Glad you enjoys moms story. I think porcupine are scraping up the bark but the trees are dying from a larch beetle. The beaver have got to go. No room for them in our land. Keep on tractoring!

Sounds like a Larch, Larch (pine) loses it's needles. maybe Porcupines are getting them, if they are there. What an awesome story about the land !! EDIT TO ADD ... Larch makes outstanding sawn lumber and it doesn't rot as fast.
Beautiful. I will be driving from Moorhead to Duluth next week for work, I love that drive this time of year. Find someone locally to trap the beavers for pelt. The beaver are amazing at what they do but what they do is destructive.
I’d like to find someone to trap them but the problem is that the pelts aren’t worth much right now. Enjoy your drive, I’m sure you’ll see some pretty scenery. Keep on tractoring!
I believe the tamarack needle turn yellow in autumn, before they fall off. As for the beavers, you really only have two choices. Hire some to trap them out, or buy a boat. Just don't fall on the sharp stumps they leave behind.
I will make sure the wife doesn’t see this video 😂 My wife and son spent a month at Mayo Clinic and all they saw was snow, didn’t know how beautiful Minnesota is. The area you are in looks a. lot like parts of Alabama. Appreciate your videos!

The northern half is a little prettier in my opinion. However the south eastern hills, rivers and hardwoods are also nice.

I’m guessing it’s insects killing them off and the woodpeckers are responsible for stripping the bark while going for the insects.
