His career choices were tragic for football fans only, they lament a squandered talent as if they knew destiny. But people have agency, I'd argue that he achieved what he wanted: becoming absurdly rich by kicking a ball. Good on him. Who are we to judge, would anyone consider e.g. Le Tissier's career a failure?
Just a complementary info: Santos’ scout found Neymar at 10 years old and convinced the club to create an under 11 squad just so they could properly sign him. Up until that point, the youngest squad was under 13, which they thought would be too much for Neymar, given his physique. In other words, Neymar was so promising, he made Santos (the same club that had created Pelé and even Robinho, in spite of his legal issues) create an entire new team category and look for other 10 young boys to form a tem to play for him.
At a certain moment, I think it was already 2012, after the Libertadores and the Puskas Award, if I remember correctly), Neymar’s contract with Santos involved a series of other investors. The club and the player had managed to sign 11 personal sponsors to compensate European offers and keep him in Brazil for a little longer. (To put it in perspective, he had more personal sponsors than many clubs)
I’m brazillian, and i agree with you. Neymar probality have the best natural talent of the history, but his focus goed to your brand. In the pitch he’s unstoppable, but he not focused only in the pitch. The most what if in the history. Sad, bro 😭
@@wallysoncosta9601 His decision to move to PSG. What if he had stayed at Barca, focused on football, probably the biggest regret in football history. He was so talented but wasted everything.
This couldn't be further from the truth, yes Neymar could have performed better in certain games but a lot of those "missed opportunities" aren't even his fault, PSG lost against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final because Mbappé wasn't potent enough in front of goal, the 2021 Copa America Final Neymar played one of his best ever matches and still lost, 2022 world cup quarter final vs Croatia he scores the goal that puts them in the lead and then Brazil concede a late equaliser and Marquinhos misses his penalty and Brazil get knocked out, yes there are times when Neymar Jr should ask more from himself but saying it's all hs fault and that he is a "party animal who lost focus on football" is such a poor conclusion to jump to especially when you factor in how most people have universally agreed as such without rewatching each game
Neymar is more talented than messi who named as the most god giving talented guy by football fans . Difference is neymar got distracted . Parties , childhood behaviors , girls , toxic relationships , drugs , gambling . He destroyed himself 😢 Talent without work is nothing -goat-
Do you think Neymar's career is a tragedy or just a result of his own choices? Let’s discuss below! 👇

@@XmarkedSpot Thank you. Means a lot 😁
You forgot to put that even in PSG he was in Mbappe's shadow.
Thought about it, but Neymar had enough talent to be above Mbappe in that PSG team, only if he had been more disciplined and focused
