    You are, by far, one of the most incredible teachers I've ever experienced. Your command of the English language is really good especially when you consider how hard it is to learn, just Ukrainan and Russian. I'm learning both at the same time which is filled with challenges (along with French and Spanish because why not) but it's amazing how much there is to take on with your beautiful language. You're an incredible teacher with a really good grasp of English and, like me, are always eager to learn more because you know it's a lifelong process. Thanks for the great instruction!

    Thank you. A very useful summary. I am very slowly working through your book. It's taking me a long time as I don't have a large vocabulary yet, but I am finding the exercises very useful.

    I have not watched all the video to the end, i am in the middle, however i believe that learning the Ukrainian alphabet (Cyrillic) is the key to being able to pronounce words and read in Ukrainian. Once you learn the alphabet then it is a case of knowing what the actual Ukrainian word corresponds to. Inna am I correct?

    • @bre_me
      @bre_me ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Definitely. Learn the alphabet and you will essentially be able to read Ukrainian. You might mess up the stressed syllable, but you’ll be able to at least pronounce the vowels and consonants as they should be. From there it’s just learning the words and grammar

    Thanks for this teaser into your course. I asked this before, but under an older video: do you already know the approximate dates for the 7th edition, so I can reserve time for it on my calendar? I'd love to join your course, but I will be too busy during the time when this 6th edition takes place.

    • @SpeakUkrainian
      @SpeakUkrainian  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t know the exact date of the 7th edition. Perhaps, it will be in November. I will let you in advance.

    Well, listening to this video, I think I need a good dictionary to know what is the gender of thing. If I do your exercises in your book, you give the words to modify in nominative case and it's easy the know with the ending they have in that case. But, if I want to read something, or write something without knowing the nominative case first I don't know the gender, and then don't know how to accord it correctly...

    as a American that has been learning Ukranian for about 5 months, recently found a teacher in odesa.. she took me as a student for no charge because of my reason for learning Ukranian... that being said, teaching cases is really pointless.. teach to speak and later after fluent then explain cases. just integrate cases into learning the language. in 4 months time my teacher has described me as her most gifted student. she has been teaching ukranian, russian and english for almost 30 years. she has said i speak and write at intermediate level so we are doing something right. to clarify, i self taught for about 3 months before finding this kind lady and she has been teaching me about 2 months, about 1 month ago she was amazed how quickly i was learning and we decided to just learn the categorization at a later time.

    One quick question, are the people in Ukraine speaking Ukrainian all the time or are they still speaking russian sometimes. 💛💙

    • @finchois
      @finchois ปีที่แล้ว +5

      from what I’ve seen some people does speak russian in their personal lives, but almost everyone I’ve been following online switched to ukrainian which is such a fortunate thing for me, since it’s such a nice/practical/productive way to practice.

    • @bre_me
      @bre_me ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not Ukrainian but from what I’ve seen online most Ukrainians speak Ukrainian primarily while some speak Russian primarily. The Russian speakers are primarily centered in the very south and very east of Ukraine

    The grammatical cases and gender are not difficult to understand. But they are extremely difficult to put into practice.

      Makes me think of "dog people." They always ask the gender or name of your dog because it's like a little person to them, not a thing.
      Dog person: My mom got a dog. HE's so cute!
      Not a dog person: My mom got a dog. IT smells.
