I know how you feel, Josh. I lived in Ft Myers for 41 years and the first time I visited New Mexico I fell in love. I climbed those mountains behind you, and heck yes, we are NOT used to that thin air for sure! Hope you had a great time.
Glad you like it here Josh, it is an awesome state and Albuquerque is a great city to live in. Your statements about the melting pot and being a very inclusive place are on point. You're right about people focusing on the bad and not recognizing the good.
Where you hear that from? I am born and raised in Albuquerque and that’s not true. We do not serve Margaritas for breakfast. We do eat Enchiladas topped with egg sometimes though for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lol 😂
@@MrJmartinez76 I don't know what restaurant we were in, but we did have enchilada' and margarita's for breakfast when we werepassing thru on our way to AZ.
Both my babies were born in southern NM. I grew up there. I WANT TO RETIRE THERE. Yes. Thank you for this video. New Mexico is definitely the land of enchantment! I still eat green chili on EVERYTHING.
I been considering moving there from FL but I’ve heard negative things about the economy.I’m a mom of an 11 month old baby but I fear scorpions, rattle snakes and spiders.
I’ve lived in NM for 15 years and the landscape doesn’t cease to impress me. Same with the history and culture. Plus there’s a lot of great places to hike and take in nature.
Been in ABQ 15 years now. If I miss LA and the beaches they are less than two hours away by plane. Same for PHX, Dallas, Denver or Vegas. With only two million in the entire state it's easy flowing on any roadway on a normal day. The beautiful areas are so easy to get to. I went to Jemez Springs for the first time last weekend and man what a stunning place. Abq is growing up and the state will now be my home from here on out Glad you had a nice time, bro.
Been living in Albuquerque, NM from 10 years now...originally from NYC. I agree with everything you said, especially the green chili lol. Oh and yes I couldn't breathe either for the first few months. And after 1 or 2 beers I would be tipsy as hell. But now I'm used to it and when i go back home to visit, back down to sea level, I can out drink all of my friends! 10-15 beers and feel nothing! Kind of a waste though lol. THank you for visiting our city and please come back to visit soon. I'd be happy to show you the best parts of it, like our breweries and southern food restaurants...yes, we have that!
Uh, excuse me, it's not 'chili' here it's 'chile' (CHEE-lay). EVERY NEW MEXICAN knows this. Red and green Hatch chiles are like heroin to our citizens and we have ALOT of actual heroin here too!

I grew up in Albuquerque and although I have lived in other states from time to time, I always came back here. My fiancé and I have been thinking about moving elsewhere. But no other US city checks all of the boxes ✅ for us that Albuquerque does. While we certainly do appreciate what we've got here, you're right, some people don't. But that may be because they believe a perception from people living elsewhere. Part of it may also be because it's not as well known as the bigger cities. Sadly, that's important to some people. But I really do love it here. Just like Denver, we too are a mile high. I don't notice it, but I am not surprised that you did, coming from sea level. One of my favorite things about this place is that it truly is a melting pot. Glad you enjoyed your time here. And thank you for the kind words.
