Thinner paste application won't lower the temps. Go too thin and temps go up (not enough contact). Add too much paste and it just spills out to the sides (doesn't negatively impact thermals). Always better to add too much than too little.

Dude. I'm not even fucking kidding. I bought a 12700K YESTERDAY and searched "best thermal paste frame chasers" and was so sad when you didn't have a video. LMAO. I just got Kryonaut because it seemed like a safe choice. I think the cost is really not even a factor. What's $3.50 vs. $10 when you're installing a $300+ CPU
edit: was able to cancel my order and used your link to try the Zezzio

The usual approach to make such hard paste more "fluid" and easier to spread out, is to leave the tube in hot water for 3-5 minutes before application, like it was done back in the day with ic-diamond one.

Is the Zezzio the same as SYY-157? SYY-157 is basically Thermaltake TFX in terms of performance, longevity, texture, etc. but for a fraction of the cost. It's insane how good it is. I went from Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut to SYY-157 with my 10900KF and 11900KF and have never looked back.

I use Cooler Master Cryofuze thermal paste with 14 W/m-K thermal conductivity. Keeps my Ryzen 7 5800X running at 52*C avg playing Halo Infinite multiplayer, and my Ryzen 9 5900X running at 62*C avg playing Halo Infinite multiplayer. Running Cinebench R23, my 5800X never goes past 69*C, and my 5900X never goes past 78*C.

Let me tell you what Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut did to my AMD FX-9590. (A hot running 220w CPU)...
I couldn't figure out what was going on but it kept powering itself . I finally sat in front of the machine, and started another Android system build . It powered off at 90.
It totally mangled, pitted and eroded the base of the water block on my Hydro Series Corsair H110 Extreme AIO and I'm pretty sure the extreme heat killed my pump . I was going to mill that copper plate, but finding the rhe blown punp its like what's the point? I've got a new AIO ayarem and baseplate on rhe way, and at some point I may play with liquid metals . That machine has built at LEAST 600 Custom Android System Images at full power++ and never gave me a bit of trouble, till last week
    ASUS Crosshair- V Formula - G , 32GB G.Skill RipJaws DDR3 (2166) and six (6) 2TB Seagate Barracudas behind an LSI-2960-8i in RAID-5. (Root disk is a 4T Qestern Digital 7200RPM (Black) spinner.
I can't believe what rhat did to the pump. It wasnt 'Extreme', just plain Kryonaut, and a couple people mentioned that they released some bad paste a few times, but I'll spend a bit more on paste rather than spending $250+ on an AIO Cooler. I'll never buy Thermal Grizzly anything again. I'm going to give Cooler Master's MasterGel Pro2 a go this time.

Thermal cycling causes a pumping action that can destroy the integrity of the thermal paste application. I wonder if the cryonauts are more resistant to thermal pumping, hence the slightly higher temperature but would be better used in a long-term build?

      @Ben-ld1qi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Ryan Mah Same, I was really hoping to see the Arctic MX5, especially now that a 20g tube is so value oriented. I really don't mind buying those ultra expensive thermal paste, except that it seems, at least with the Kryonaut, that people complain the the longevity. As Jufes usually says, for family and friends I would rather keep it 'grandma friendly' and use something like the MX5 so I can paste and forget. For my own use I probably wouldn't mind using something more "premium" even if it means repasting every 6-12 months for optimal temps.

Turpentine will work to thin pastes out. I use it for all my paste applications if the paste is not flowing too well. It makes the contact 100%. It can even revive paste if it has dried out, so you can add less new paste. Just stir one or two drops into the paste with a glove on and the mount will be perfect. Be careful not to spill the stuff, don't let the mixture leak into your PC.

I also can confirm that Kingpin for two years has been fine. You have to make sure you use the plastic spatula and spread it. I also apply a small bead in the center after I spread it and never had the temps rise after two years. So in short, spread the paste then add a small bead in the center that will compress down when cooler is placed on top of it.

Any real differences in these pastes should be pretty minor unless one of them is straight up lying. You're not going to get a super reliable indicator of which one has the highest heat conductivity with such a short test. You need to have a known thickness of paste and heatload. The cpu works well but the overall testing methodology is "uncontrolled" for the differences you wish to measure.
The "best" paste will give the best results in all use cases and applications. IE it's foolproof to apply and works well. The paste that takes this crown? Kryonaut and likely noctua nt-h2 for a thicker option.
To accomplish this you can't have a super thick paste. This is why thinner pastes paradoxically work very well in the short term before "pump out" takes place. I would wager a guess that super thick paste actually performs the best but is very difficult to apply "correctly" thus leading people to conclude that it sucks. Which is also valid, but the reason for the conclusion is incorrect.
My go to paste is syy-157. I've found it to be the best paste at a reasonable price. Is it the absolute best? Probably not but it's very close to the best. I can also assure you it's better than kryonaut especially for longevity. Cheaper as well. Issue is it's hard to apply as it's super thick. The trick it to spread it evenly and super thin. The stuff works absolute wonders in laptops. There are comments saying to warm it up in some water, but I'm not quite sure how much of a difference it would make. Something to test I guess.
KPX is great but damn is it expensive. No thanks.
