    My mom named me Stella from a street car named desire, and all my life people have been screaming “STELLA” at me, and now I finally understand why

    I saw the entire series. Being from Brazil, I wish Mike could do one episode on 20th Century Third World Theater, specially latin america. We have in Brazil one major playwright NELSON RODRIGUES, a true genious, he has amazing plays, very modernistic. Consider that in that time Brazil was an isolated country, and NELSON somehow had impressionist, Brechtian, and other elements in his plays, although he had never heard of them.

    A lot of people don't know this, but originally Broadway was one of three streets - A, B, and C Roadway. A and C were demolished during the war, so we were left with B Roadway, or "Broadway", as it is known in the vernacular.

    Where are the musicals!?!
    We better get to some musicals eventually, they are the best and why I am here

      This is where you break into a choreographed song-and-dance routine, isn't it?

    • @fobwatchful
      @fobwatchful 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DFloyd84 Yup, not realistic, but other parts of theater aren't either!

      Musicals are the best. Theatre AND Music AND Dance (even through they’re all the same thing)... what could be better?

      Derek Floyd Who doesn’t love a choreographed song-and-dance number? (If you don’t, I’m sorry, I don’t think we can be friends...)

    Great episode. It is interesting how many theater titans are dudes who didn’t write women that well (Miller) or who had bad relationships with them in real life (Brecht)

      Yea, contemporary bway. Everyone thinks of Hamilton nowadays when speaking of Broadway... I'd say there's much more than that; and Hamilton, though a good show, isn't really one that defines Broadway.
