Some many people haven't realize yet that noble line units can always be recruited from castle villages of any culture, while town villages only have normal recruit line always.
Great guides, I’m really liking the troop stats in 1.0. Went around the map and assembled a force of Heroic Line Breakers, Veteran legionnaires, Fian Champions and Banner Knights based off these guides. They work great
i’ve found in my experience that banner knights have relatively low survivability and also suffer from getting locked up and getting taken out by low tier units where the catafract doesn’t quite as much and has much better shoulder piece and chest armor
For an initial charge, the Banner Knight takes the win, but a lot of time cavalry will be slowed down and might not regroup to charge together again. In that scenario, the Elite Cataphracts are superior I believe, they are less useful for a charge but way better in melee, aren't they?
The main advantage the cataphract has is that there's 3 whole kingdoms you can draw recruits from they have the most abundant pool of hero troops over any kingdom in the game making it much easier to field them in larger numbers. Additionally losing the couched lance does draw off some of the initial burst damage they have but rarely will you see them couch their lances after and that's were the cataphract damage excels, they're better armored and and built to fight even when stalling after crashing into the enemy line
I’m doin a vlandian play through as a lancer and I had an army of 150 vs. 347 empire troops my army mostly comprised of Calvary and crossbow men and we beat the hell out of em it was great
So I play on console my question is is the noble troop lines randomized thru out the game on pc or are people not aware that they are linked to towns that have castles linked to them?
Noble troops can be recruited from villages bound to Castles, but that's not all you can recruit from those villages. And some appear to not have them, although most do. So, yes, if you want noble troops, you go to castle bound villages.
I cant bring myself to play as Vlandia or use many of their troops. Way more fun to be the hypothetical imperial overlord or heathen invader of some kind (Viking, Mongol, Arab).
Chicken bannerlord found that druznhiks were the best anti infantry cav. Khans guard is the strongest dismounted cav. Kherg lancers are the cheapest numbers advantage cav similar to how t4 regular falxman are the strongest and cheapest infantry. Imperial cav and Faris melee only are roughly the same. Not sure if Khans guard is still the strongest anti cav unit in the game. But we do know for sure that Khans guard are now very weak at anti infantry roles when used in a head on charge.
Chicken found Vlandians banner is not as good as druznhiks. But is better than cataphracts with Faris melee only usually being in 4th place or so. Vlandians are usually 2nd place
@@Dare_To_Game Druzhinic Champions is the best heavy cavalry and shielded foot troop. Try testing them in the field and u will see that Bannerknight is the worst noble line heavy cav.
I was funny videos to be the most helpful if I want a certain troop in my army it really helps a lot when I'm having a hard time trying to conquer, just one question a lot of is Calvary is pretty good but why are the sturgeons Calvary not in here I thought they were actually pretty good? PS I understand why the battalion's calvary not in here because they are basically garbage compared to all the other Calvary and does not last long at all and it's only if you're desperate for but still why aren't the surgeons in this?
all these lists on youtube about "best" units are really not thought through or just wrong. this list right here is about the top 5 STRONGEST cavalry, and not the BEST. availabilty playes one of the biggest, if not THE biggest role by figureing out what is the BEST unit in every category. im not talking about wages, since money doesnt play (sadly) ANY roll in bannerlord. but again, availabilty. yes, cataphracts are a GG top tier unit, and thats why it takes so long to build up a good amount of them. especially because they need so much exp and care in early stages. mercenary cav for example might be weaker than top tier cavs......... BUT, counting in mercenarys and karavan cav, you can get 200+ of them in like a few ingame days. which is VERY crazy, considering that you are ready to fight again in NO time. try giving your companion partys full caravan cav partys, and they will faceroll over EVERYTHING for the next several ingame days, with an all cav TOP map speed. i do like these lists on youtube and i respect the effort made, but yeah, STRONGEST is not the same as BEST.
You should test the vladian bannerknights to the sturgian champions in testing of my own on the recent update I have had more success with the sturgian champions both in open field and Sieging with less deaths and wounded compared to the bannerknights
Instead of ranking, maybe an advise on either: 1 top units, always recruit, upgrade and treasure these possibly traveling far away or back home to replenish them. 2 good troops, recruit and upgrade a decent number for your armies 3 ok troops. keep but replace if you can and avoid getting too many of 4 avoid recruiting or upgrading a unit that path, the first to donate to garrisons or dump if you get them anyway All noble lines are probably 1. The extra tier jump main skills from 130 to 200 and over and gear is top notch. Even if you do nothing but sieges, the noble mounted units still outmatch regular infantry/cav and fians/khan's guards outperform other ranged. (But you'll probably want some front line or not cheese to much) Category 2, and depending on your playstyle (you may consider some 1) you'll want a few sturgian infantry (spear/linebreaker?), wildlings and legionaries for your infantry core. Get some Vlandian crossbows and Aserai archers to complement your fians. Darkhan and some shock infantry are nice imo if you use them right. I think the Aserai infantry is good too, like the Khuzait archer, but neither is supposed to, so I'm expecting nerfs. If you don't mind spending war horses on non noble lines, or you want a horde style, khuzait horse archers are a great pick to supplement your khan's guard. For both Aserai and Khuzait you kinda are in that territory or you're not, you have to deal with what you get or it's too big a detour. So it doesn't matter too much how good they are. Category 3 are subpar units that just have better alternatives. Most non noble mounted units, and most meh troops not mentioned above. Most mercenaries unless you have a cost reducing perks. Some I consider trash, but not sure if they deserve it, just a warband assumption they are overpriced. Sword sisters I consider nice, but more for nostalgic reasons (no helmet makes them vulnerable). What other troops fall here is a matter of taste I guess? The imperial ranged units could fall into this category, or in the trash if their tier 5 options weren't decent. Is it worth suffering through 1 quivers archers to end up only decent? If you have too few shield infantry, shock infantry drops to this category they are so squishy! Category 4 are absolute trash, or a waste of a better upgrade line. Militia already for their lack of upgrade ability (only tier 2 and 4 that stay there). Most minor factions I put here, although they are flavorful (I like the Arboreals and the idea of the aserai rebels). They have mostly subpar gear and with lots of 1s and 2s your list gets long and cluttered. These are nice troops to hand over to your companion parties.

This comment is more useful than the video. Thanks for this gold.

I am glad you mentioned the couched lances, because it makes a huge difference.
Yes, it makes the Vlandian charge way more deadly than any other faction's lancers.
Rbm makes banner knights obsolete, It fixes cataphracts so that they couch
i’ve found in my experience that banner knights have relatively low survivability and also suffer from getting locked up and getting taken out by low tier units where the catafract doesn’t quite as much and has much better shoulder piece and chest armor
Interestingly, the last testing video I saw had Khan's guard as the best horse archer AND the best heavy cav.
I am glad you are updating your bannerlord guides. I have been playing the game a ton since release.
I am glad you enjoy them. I plan to do quite a few bannerlord videos now that i am playing it again.
For an initial charge, the Banner Knight takes the win, but a lot of time cavalry will be slowed down and might not regroup to charge together again. In that scenario, the Elite Cataphracts are superior I believe, they are less useful for a charge but way better in melee, aren't they?
This could be true. When i command heavy cavalry, i reform and recharge every time.
I knew the Banner Knight was gonna be Boss. Considering it shares the first part of it name with the name of the game.
Makes sense. They are also the precourser of the Swadian Knights from Warband, and they were Overpowered. Lore wise, it makes sense to me.
Inperial cataprath have more HP and survivability, its better
I was cataphract all the way, until i learned better. Now i rock Vlandian Cavalry all day and night.
They are of course an excellent heavy lancer, just outclassed by the superior Vlandian knights.
Average Vlandian cavalry fan vs. Average Sturgian cavalry enjoyer
Noble lines generally come from castle villages, standard are more plentiful from towns villages.
The main advantage the cataphract has is that there's 3 whole kingdoms you can draw recruits from they have the most abundant pool of hero troops over any kingdom in the game making it much easier to field them in larger numbers. Great guide. Definitely do these for all the troops.
Thank you. I plan to.
I think this might be a good option while I wait for Kingdom Come 2
I definitely recommend it. I love Mount & Blade, and if you enjoy medieval sandbox games, these are the best.
Wait... there is going to be a second one!
You should definitely get this game. 1000s of hours of fun.
I’m a KCD fan too, but I honestly think this might be even better.
I definitely don’t think there is gonna be a second KCD since the studio who mare it are a smaller company

Do castle's prosperity and loyalty level affects their overall production of noble troops in bound villages?
Fun fact when you make the khans guard hold fire they become the best cavalry easily beating the banner knight by miles
Vlandian Banner Knights also die less than IHC in battles
I knew the vlandians would be the champs. Just the Beta version of Swadian Butter Knights.
Yeah, it makes sense that the Devs would know the correct lore option.
You missed two cavalry units, one from the green dudes in the trees and one in the north the blue dudes don’t they both have cavalry
I cant bring myself to play as Vlandia or use many of their troops. Way more fun to be the hypothetical imperial overlord or heathen invader of some kind (Viking, Mongol, Arab).
OP Valandia again. I beat Warband with 100 knights, rarely if ever lost knights.
