You introduced me to Dropps a few months ago. I LOVE IT! We have sensitive skin in our household and it works great for us. Thank you for your recommendation. And for sharing your cleaning routine🤗
Your notecards remind me of a book I read probably 40 years ago called Sidetracked Home Executives. Two sisters were trying to get their lives/homes in order. It was hilarious to read but painful as it was my life, too. I used notecards for years, and lately my home is so peaceful and mostly clean, with help from Minimal Mom and folks like you. It’s motivation at it’s best! Love all of you you tubers who share their lives!
This video wasn’t even about it but wow I can really see your healthy changes! Do you see how nice your arms look? I can see a huge difference from a year ago. Good work girl love your videos ❤️
Great routine. You might want to consider using bins (such as the clear plastic bin with ‘stuff I never use’ 😄) to hold the bottles of products currently lying down. You could have one for the products you use daily and one for products used periodically. I’ve found it is so much easier to keep everything organized and put away when you can return the products to their own bins and slide the bin on its own shelf. This will also prevent accidents from leaking containers. 😬 Just a thought. 💝
We recently moved in 2019 and since then have really been trying to be so much more intentional and minimal, it really does help with chores and keeping things looking tidy. I sometimes get a bit jealous watching all these different holiday decorate with me videos but then I remind myself "I'd have to keep that clean" hahahaha.
I have used a "card" system for years. I don't remember where the idea came from. I even gave my kiddos cards to help them get into a routine of picking up and cleaning their things when they were young. I used 3x5 colored cards. Daily, every other day, weekly, monthly, 3 months, 6 months, and seasonal. Has helped me keep a tidy house and clutter down. No one wants to clean or move a lot of stuff routinely.
I love that you’ve found a routine that works for you! I have specific days of the week where I clean specific rooms and save Saturdays for monthly or quarterly things. Before I was a stay at home mom, I was an accountant, and I had weekly tasks(payroll), and monthly tasks(closing, reconciling, etc.), and applying those same principles to home management has worked so well for me. And once you’ve decluttered and had the same routine(basically) for a couple years it’s so easy to get through cleaning quickly. Plus you never have to waste time wondering what you should be cleaning. It also gives me peace of mind, because if something is messy or dusty, I know what day I’ll get to it that week and I don’t feel the never ending pressure of constant cleaning. Love your videos!
Thanks for sharing your system! I love how you tweak and improve as needed. Great idea to buy the same color bath mats and wash them together. Looks like your towels are all around the same color too. Me too. Makes it much easier not to have the random dark colored towel to wonder if it's OK to wash with the light ones. Please thank your son for the face washing lesson... future you tuber!!
I have a suggestion to add to your monthly list. Clean/sanitize toothbrushes. You can soak them in mouthwash or peroxide. Maybe put them in a cup to soak before you start cleaning and they will be done when you finish.
For make up removal I recently bought a magic makeup remover cloth..it’s a game changer..it just uses water and it’s amazing. I no longer have to buy wipes, or lots of cotton rounds and makeup removal lotions and potions, saves, time, money and space!
Erica, Thank you so much for going through this with us. Such a good system. I will watch this again and take notes. As always, I love when you discribe why and how you decide to do things a certain way. Very interesting and helpful. Cheers ways
Great to see you put items that need decluttering on the vanity unit rather than on the floor - which too many other TH-camrs do - I wish they would think to lay a towel or something down first.
I LOVE the index card idea! Definitely going to implement this. My 10 year old is in charge of the weekly cleaning of our hall bath. She does a great job. But it has taken 5 years of teaching her to get to this point. Well worth it to have a weekly bathroom task that is another family members responsibility!
Please tell me you're making a cleaning routine for each day of the week & room!!!! ♡ just moved into our house a month ago and idk how to make a weekly and monthly routine yet
I fell in love with the apron 😍 Maybe I can clen in Style instead of my oldest TShirt! For the broken in products: Really ask yourself again, if you love them or if it is only the money guilt. Why would you have bought a new produkt, if you liked the other one? If you really like them, then put them in a container and set them aside. And when you run out of a product in your daily routine, grab one from your stash. For me this worked really good with all those gifted body lotions and shower gels. And I have a Summer/Winter stash. Don't like lemon and mint in the winter...
I’m glad you talked about your hair, as I has noticed it was looking great recently and I wondered if you were following Curly Girl. Recently I had been trying to improve my curls but your experience, of having lots of (expensive) products that may not work for my hair, is what worries me. Thanks for talking about it!
Ever tried washing them? I throw it into the washer with some towels. I have hard water but it still works well. I want to make the plastic purchases (or polyvinyl? not sure) last as long as possible :)
ERICA- Thank you for recognizing my comment! We are still decluttering all the stuff we don’t need. We took a bunch of stuff to a food pantry, house hold kitchen and some decorative stuff, bags of clothes and a couple crockpots. It filled the back of my SUV. You know people say it takes a year however, we are going on year two. Just can’t get it all done today but every little bit helps. Thank you 🙏
I can top your years of usage on a care appliance :) My mom gave me a hand held hair blow dryer for Christmas when I was a teen. I still use it periodically when I don't plan well enough and don't want to go out with wet hair. It is in perfect shape and small which I like and bright yellow which I tolerate. I am 63. :)
I do the same with towels. Wash weekly, and return to the towel bar. I keep a calendar in my laundry room to remember when tasks are done. Towels, sheets, blankets.
I’m glad you talked about your hair, as I has noticed it was looking great recently and I wondered if you were following Curly Girl. I have a out of the home full time job and have two makeup bags. A big one bag with base makeup primers, moisturizers, etc. I have a small one if I had to do a basic face I have all the essentials. If I've done my makeup I'll just take my compact and lipstick with me. I told fold towels they all go in hooks so none of them end up on the floor. I'm on a no buy beauty products unless I am all the way out. I've been using all my lotions, face creams, nail polishes, perfumes...I will look into the reusable face round makeup removers.
I keep my “fly lady” to do lists in a binder in plastic sleeves and use a wipeable marker pen to tick off what I’ve done. Once the tasks are done I just wipe off the pen and it’s clean and ready for the next month. (Fly lady system works on zones..one room per week, 15 mins per day on rotation.) There’s no need to do deep cleans as this way means you’re always on top of those jobs.
A few thoughts on magnesium… I take magnesium tablets, and they work very well. We have magnesium lotion for my son and I use it occasionally and we have not experienced any burning. It does aid in more restful sleep!
I wash towels weekly too. However there is two people that use all the clean towels during the week. My daughter has her own towels, keeps them in her room. I also use two towels per week. I have tried the hook method too with labeled clothes pin to know who had used the towels but my son and husband never follow the rule, to use one towel a few times before getting a clean one. They get a clean towel each time they take a shower.
Hi Erica! I have curly hair too and I find I need different products as the seasons change. And yes ... me too .... forever looking for something else to calm frizz, define curl, etc, etc.
That apron is so cute! Aprons are like a fantasy self items for me - I keep seeing all the cute ones, but I owned not one but TWO and never used them. 😭 I can’t decide. It’s going on a list to think about.
Erica, I have watched you from Australia, since you lived in the last house and started decluttering. That bathroom cabinet declutter was awesome, satisfying and I could tell how happy with yourself you were when finished. I can just imagine the look of those drawers of today, compared to your last house bathroom drawers. Well done!! Jo xxx
My kids go thru foaming soap like crazy. I learned from someone here on youtube to take regular hand soap refill put 2-3 tablespoons of that into your foaming soap container and fill the rest of the way with water. I use warm/hot water to help dissolve the soap and stir it with a butter knife. works great and less waste because I am reusing the foaming soap containers.
A great make up remover is coconut oil. Also I just spray my windows and mirrors with water and wipe unless there is a product stuck on that wont come off with that. These are the money saving tips I have for the bathroom =).
You can make foam soap out out regular soap and water. Fill the foam pump a quarter of the way with regular hand soap(not foam soap) and fill the rest of the way with water. And give it a shake. Saves some money while letting the kiddos have a little freedom with soap usage❤
I just had to pause your video and clean my own bathroom (which is like really small, like 6m²). So thank you for the inspiration! I have a special wash sack (I'm not sure how you call it in English) for my drying cloth, like your glass cloth. In that sack I can wash it just with a normal washing cycle. It's from Jemako which is a German brand.
I did a bathroom closet clean out and had so many half used things. I decided that I was going to use them till they were gone and not buy anything new till they were gone. So as I go along, I get one out, use it up and get another one out. If it does something horrible to my skin or hair, I trash it. It's amazing how fast you can use stuff up if your really trying to lol
I ordered new sheets awhile back and they came with a string tie bag, which we all know we can never get the sheets back into, so I cleaned my blow dryer, then put it in the bag, like they do in hotels. It has helped keep my blow dryer less dusty on the fan. Maybe you can put your blow dryer in your satin pillow case. Store it and have them both together.
Hi Erica, I saw you have cotton pads for your makeup removal…. No judge I did too! But I recently found reusable ones at the dollar tree you just wash, I love them! Thought I would mention to you since you’ve turned me on to some great low waste products like drops! 😉😁
I think it was Dawn who made a caddy for her curlers and hair dryer with a small deep square trashcan/container she put a plastic cutting board inside diagonally. I made one for the peoples in the home who use thoes things. It works for them. Maybe for you or someone else. Easy to get to and toss items back in. Loved the "removing the thing you don't want is a good start". Isn't that just the best advice?!!
Erica! I think I’ve watch all your videos and you really motivate me. I’d love a video of you going over your index cards and how you set up your cleaning routine. I like the idea of them as I think they’d be great to help my kids also know what I expect to be done. ❤️
Use the magnesium oil!! I spray it all over my legs to eliminate cramps. If you don't want to, use one scoop of Magnacalm in your tea. It makes a HUGE difference!!!
It is always great to declutter even a small area. I know you have been attempting to use environmentally good products and less waste so just wanted to let you know about reusable face wipes/make remover rounds. I actually make them at times by crocheting rounds. Also instead of paper towels, old rags, old dish clothes no longer used etc. can be used to clean toilets and then washed in laundry.
F.y.i. you can squirt a small amount of any liquid dish soap ( like dawn) and then fill up the rest with water you can refill the method hand soap container.
You are wise to hang dry your microfiber towels. That is what keeps them from losing their dirt/dust grabbing character. Nice routine! Enjoyed the video.
The first magnesium oil I used didn't burn or anything. The second kind I tried did, so I diluted it down with water or witch hazel, and that helped a lot.
My thoughts on putting used beauty products in the trash are... they are germ filled and should not be shared. Most things can be shared, but not beauty products. I think putting them in your linen closet is a great idea. I loved this video tho. Great ideas and food for thought!
I was just thinking about bathroom towels the other day - how many towels do you have total for a family of 5? Do you have guest towels too? We just have a big pile of random towels and I'd like to just start over and get enough for what I need and toss/donate the rest so I can stop taking care of them
Lol my kids were the same way with the foaming hand soap they were always using way too much because it was so much fun they said so I just switched back over to regular hand soap in soap dispensers and just bought a big refill jug
You are really shining through. Like you've declutttered so much and figured out how to stay more on top of everything. I think front curtain bangs with front layers would look so great on you. With the weight you've taken off , you've taken years off you. Different glasses or contacts because your eyes are so great. I've been with you the whole journey and its inspiring yo watch. I didnt have much stuff to start with to declutter but you have totally surpassed me! Like wow! Time to kick my butt in gear😄 I too want to shed the clutter, the weight and the stress 😖
Erica, I adore you! You’re an inspiration! I know how much effort you put into buying more sustainable products. Have you tried makeup removing cloths? I also use washable pads. (Menstrual cups did not work for me.) The best shower cleaner is Dawn and vinegar, but I agree bleach is needed occasionally. The only thing you need to clean glass is a microfiber cloth and vinegar-no chemical heavy cleaner! In fact, water would probably work just fine but I always use vinegar. (I use regular ones [cheapies!] not the thinner glass cleaning cloths you showed.) The only cleaning products I use are water, vinegar, baking soda, Dawn, Thieves oil/concentrate-and the occasional bleach. I hope you try some of these!
So I purchased Norwex microfiber towels and now I don’t spend money on cleaning supplies. Some good old water keeps my counter tops, glass and everything else super clean. The amount of money I’m saving on not purchasing cleaning supplies is crazy! Even paper towels I use very little.
@@jennylhenry78 I’m obsessed 🤩 with these products and the company, I like their mission on helping the planet, another reason I don’t mind spending a little more on their products. Happy to hear I’m not alone ☺️
@@jennylhenry78 yes! I just got their mop system in November, so I’m a bit bummed that they have the spray mop now. But it’s all good, I have had the cedar mop and I still use that one for my heavy once a week floor cleaning with a bit of that awesome detergent they have and super hot water. And the system for every day use, I have two very hairy dirty pups that keep my floors dirty, so the mop system is my every day use. Also have saved lots of money not having to buy swiffer replacement pads, I used sooo many duster pads 🤦🏻♀️$$$$$$
I’m really interested in your curly girl routine. I have long ( to my waist) wavy/curly hair. Not sure about how to start, I’d love to hear about your journey and products you use/love.
Looking back, the #1 advice I would give myself would be to switch to curly girl friendly products and not worry about “what works best” for the first 6 months. It took 6 months for my hair to heal. I had to ditch the flat iron and the curling iron. Use extra conditioner and be gentle on my curls. I don’t spin them up in a towel after my shower. I like the Manes by Mel channel for awesome tips.
I really enjoyed this post, not so much the cleaning BUT you entertained me, I found myself laughing 😂. But seriously you have dome an amazing job in decluttering and simplifying you life 💙
It’s interesting to see how others do their cleaning routines, and how you can adapt or get new ideas for yourself. I use vinegar as a rinse as well and I think it works great. Thanks. 😀
What a great dentist! Most of us are deficient in magnesium - your muscles need it to relax properly. The gel soaks in quickly and works fast! You could also get magnesium capsules or in powdered form. It is inexpensive and really helps with relaxing in the evening. I add it to me after dinner herbal tea!
I use a Magnesium/lavender lotii o my arms and legs when I suffer from restless leg syndrome. It works within 15 minutes and on the nights I use it,bi have found I do not grind my teeth
"That's a lot of soap, Pal.....Now I know why we don't have enough soap!" I have a five year old son and I say this ATLEAST three times a day. I have been using the empty foaming bottles, pouring some (about 1/4 cup) regular hand soap in and fill the rest with water. It's cheap foaming hand soap!!!
Girl! Get yourself some Norwex! Their cloths use only water and you will not need to use any of those cleaning products. They also have a body cloth that I use to exfoliate my legs and haven't bought shaving cream in years. The body cloth also removes all my makeup so I don't buy makeup remover either. They have little pads for removing eye makeup, again just uses water so no need to buy another product (eye makeup remover). They replace SO many things! The invest for them up front is SO worth it!
Hello! I use a similar makeup remover and bought reusable cotton rounds on etsy! I have a beautiful box on my dresser with them, and keep the wash bag and used ones in an open container to be thrown in to the washer with laundry. So easy, affordable, and sustainable! One thing to note, if you have a soft or squishy mouth guard it can actually make teeth grinding much worse. My dentist told me none is better than soft until I can afford a hard one that's molded from them. Something to consider, I'm going to try that spray what a wonderful solution!
About the mouth guard... yes, the hard, molded one works best for teeth grinding. My jaws were getting rather sore, I had to give up chewing gum (excessive chewing), plus my gums began receding from the grinding. Once I began using the mouth guard, the jaw soreness went away and the receding slowed waaaay up. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that sleep apnea can cause teeth grinding, so be aware and look for signs as you age. Catch it before it puts your health at risk. PS good job on the cleaning daily/weekly/monthly. And you're right - when you keep up with it all like that, an interruption in the cleaning schedule is not going to topple your world.
You introduced me to Dropps a few months ago. I LOVE IT! We have sensitive skin in our household and it works great for us. Thank you for your recommendation. And for sharing your cleaning routine🤗
I love this! I’m so happy for you! Finding something that works with sensitive skin is such a victory!!

You just made me cry happy tears. My arms are still a mental battle for me and you just made me so happy.
I’m glad you showed the customized wash cycle on the washing machine. So many great options there we should all be using
Yes! I have an older machine and no fancy settings. If I want it to sit I have to catch it at the right time and open the lid.
Great routine. You might want to consider using bins (such as the clear plastic bin with ‘stuff I never use’ 😄) to hold the bottles of products currently lying down. You could have one for the products you use daily and one for products used periodically. Growing up in drought in Australia I cannot reconcile running a load of washing that isn’t full 😱
This machine only fills to the line of clothes so that helps.

Cleaned out my taller bathroom cupboard while listening to you. Have a great day Erica
YES!!!
I will check those out!
I use Marley's monsters reusable rounds, and a face bar by Ethique!
F.y.i. you can squirt a small amount of any liquid dish soap ( like dawn) and then fill up the rest with water you can refill the method hand soap container.
You are wise to hang dry your microfiber towels. That is what keeps them from losing their dirt/dust grabbing character. Nice routine! Enjoyed the video.
we have the same kinds of "organizational" boxes in our "daily drawers" twinsies hahaha
Some washers have a pre-soke option and on mine it works well but for my hubby's clothes yes the have to soke longer ...
The first magnesium oil I used didn't burn or anything. The second kind I tried did, so I diluted it down with water or witch hazel, and that helped a lot.
Good tricks?
The "burn" with the magnesium lotion/oil only lasts a few minutes after application. And it's more of an itch. It's definitely worth using!
My thoughts on putting used beauty products in the trash are... they are germ filled and should not be shared. Most things can be shared, but not beauty products. I think putting them in your linen closet is a great idea. I loved this video tho. Great ideas and food for thought!
God bless you, Erica Lucas! :D
Thanks for all the links.
I will check out reusable make up pads after I finish these!!
I've had a rough 24 hours with my stomach and brutal allergies. Your videos are like watching a friend! 💜💜
I hope you are resting!!!
So I purchased Norwex microfiber towels and now I don’t spend money on cleaning supplies. Some good old water keeps my counter tops, glass and everything else super clean. The amount of money I’m saving on not purchasing cleaning supplies is crazy! Even paper towels I use very little.
Yes Lorena! Me too!!
@@jennylhenry78 I’m obsessed 🤩 with these products and the company, I like their mission on helping the planet, another reason I don’t mind spending a little more on their products. Happy to hear I’m not alone ☺️
My electric steam mop is dying. When it does, I'm going to get the mop system from them. I saw they just came out with a mop sprayer attachment. 🤩
@@lorenawilliams4229 I think the sprayer attachment not still work with the handle and base?
Vinegar and dryer balls!!👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻. I use Clorox 2 with bleach regularly, in the bathroom cleanup.
You have good routines Erica.
Thanks Jo!
@@EricaLucasLoves Welcome erica!
Hi Erica, would it be possible to hang your hair dryer up on a hook, to free up more space in the drawer? Great video!
Maybe!
I use Mrs Myers’s also. Have tried the basil. Smells wonderful. It my fav. Thanks for your videos. Appreciate them
I didn’t like the bleach one I tried in this video. Switching back to Mrs Meyers!
@@EricaLucasLoves thanks. I was wondering how the bleach worked.
@@pegfairchild4525 I didn’t like the smell or how my hands smelled the rest of the day. I should have worn gloves!!
You're doing a great job, you should be so proud.
Your travel jewelry case is genius! Love it!!
I got one of those new foot grater things for Xmas. First time I used it I sliced open my big toe!!
Wow you are really kicking butt in life in every area huh! Good on you 💪😄
I really enjoyed this post, not so much the cleaning BUT you entertained me, I found myself laughing 😂. But seriously you have dome an amazing job in decluttering and simplifying you life 💙
I take magnesium and use magnesium salts in my bath. Oil is great to rub on leg or feet cramps. Great stuff !
It’s interesting to see how others do their cleaning routines, and how you can adapt or get new ideas for yourself. I use vinegar as a rinse as well and I think it works great. Thanks. 😀
I agree! I enjoy finding new things to try.
Thanks for the motivation!
Have you tried the spray? This comment makes me feel better about trying it.
Erica, you are fUn to watch ... therefore we enJoy cleaning cuz you are entertaining and I sometimes even get goofy myself... and laugh! Thank YOU!
Put a couple drops of lavender essential oil in the magnesium spray. It will cut the burn/itch.
Oh I have that!
Love your apron💕
I use a Magnesium/lavender lotii o my arms and legs when I suffer from restless leg syndrome. It works within 15 minutes and on the nights I use it,bi have found I do not grind my teeth
"That's a lot of soap, Pal.....Now I know why we don't have enough soap!" I have a five year old son and I say this ATLEAST three times a day. I have been using the empty foaming bottles, pouring some (about 1/4 cup) regular hand soap in and fill the rest with water. It's cheap foaming hand soap!!!
I really like those opaque zipper bags and I see you use them all over the house (bathroom, homeschool, toys, etc). Where are they from?
Hi Erica, can you please make a hair care video. Your hair looks amazing! I love your minimalisch journey. I'm still in the struggle 😒 💪 ☺️
The footage of Andy you chose for the intro! 😂🤣
He’s a trip, that guy.
Hi Erica. Great tips !!! Thanks. Good job
I use magnesium oil on my legs sometimes. It does burn just a tiny little bit.
I love a good cleaning routine ❤️
I stopped using make-up remover pads and just allocated a face cloth. Much more environmentally friendly and cost saving!
I made some reusable ones from left over flannel fabric. Layer several layers and stitch on edge. Wash with towels
