I had a ‘69 Plymouth GTX 440. It was a great car. It was beautiful, a gentleman’s muscle car. Compared to a ‘66 GTO I was driving a second class citizen and I knew it. That car was what made me love and learn more about motors and style. Only wish I owned one today. I’m 75 years old too!
I bought a tri power 4 speed GTO in 1966 for $3379. It had the AM-FM radio with the 3-d echo sound effect device that GM provided. Blue with blue vinyl top. Had sintered metallic brakes up front that needed to be heated up to work properly. I had a 4.33 rear axle ratio.
What a great story! I love that you got your car back from your teenage years and restored it. This is such a great mix of restored and also modified for convenience and performance! The cutouts are awesome! Love you still put your foot in it Boss!
I had the pleasure of meeting Walter at the GTOAA Nationals. His car is like him....a class act! A real gentleman who help a younger guy (me) learn a few more things about our cars. He lives in Florida in a newer development. Cheers and thanks Walter!
We all recall our Driver Ed car-mine was a '73 Pontiac Ventura. Vanilla white, tan vinyl bench seats with a 6 cyl and 2 speed automatic. Perfect learner car as it could not get out of its own way. 55 MPH was asking a lot of that motor vehicle.
My brother had one back in, 1975 I was,,6 years old what's the prettiest blue I had ever seen in my life I was a Hurst edition same as this car but just in a different shade of blue
I had a 1967 Goat in 1969 with a full racing cam, twin Holly 3 barrels. I made the headers myself welding them on the engine. It was a screamer. I made a video about it where I ran it into Lake Michigan at over 100 mph. It had a Hurst 4 Speed trans. I seldom took it out 2rd gear in the city.
I'm 72 years old. After my discharge from the navy I purchased a 67 goat. It was beautiful and I loved it. It was stolen. To this day I still dream of that car
I bought a 1966 GTO in 1968....389 4 gear tri power hard top black in and out...I am currently freshening it up...M y other one is a rare sedan it's same drive train has 50,000 miles....spent time on several drag straps....fun cars.......
I had two 66 GTO’s at the same time. I kept the one that looks very similar to this one in the video. Your car is bad ass. What 5 speed transmission do you have. I would love to get one for mine. Have a good one brother.
Great build, &. CAR. Interestingly, I got a FORD, 1966*GALAXIE 500 XL IN 1967:4 speed/352/4 Bbl/ Exh dual/ deep Burgandy(* onviously, I would have preferred a loaded GTO; but Ford was the budget buy …nice car, needed some build ups QUICKLY(** metallic Brakes, tires, shocks, etc) but many years service.
Nice........If I had the choice between this goat or my Black/Black 1967 Buick GS 400 factory 4speed, 3:91 posi, factory AC, PS, PFdiscB and factory SUN tachometer ....I'd still take my Buick with the Starship Enterprise red air cleaner...
Not to sure about the inner fender color should have been blacked out. My 67 was the best 6.5 liter 400 it was sky blue with white interior factory tach on the hood. Tarantula high-rise manifold with a 650 Holley double Pumper Excel points transgo shift kit balanced blueprinted 400 electric fuel pump for no bog
People have got to STOP "resto-modding" these CLASSIC CARS!! The 1966 GTO never had a 5-speed transmission!! Remember? Three deuces and a FOUR SPEED!!?
It’s not like he added a supercharger through the hood or swapped in a Coyote engine from a Ford. Should people stock upgrading the brakes and only use bias ply tires, too?
Never was a greater or more beautiful car than a '66 GTO Tri-power !
Amen to that. When this car first appeared in ‘66 I was awestruck as a kid
@@michaelreilly1310esq I bought my GOAT in Dec.'65 and I had it for many years until it was caught in
a flood on July 3, 1976 !!

The most beautiful rear end ever designed 👍👍😎what a beautiful car!!👍👍
Those hidden taillights are perfect.
My dad had a 66' nightwatch blue with the Parchment interior... it was his first new car...

Well done. Modified, but stock appearing, I like it. Plus the dark blue, with the white interior , has it all. Nice.
These were real cars folks ! They had class and style unlike the cars of today.

Beautiful GTO! Really enjoyed the video!
Thank you!
Beautiful car! I had a 67 in red with white interior. 389, three duecesn4 speed! Loved that car. Bought it for $300 in 1975!
Walter thanks for letting us get a peek at your GTO
Thanks for tuning in. Hope you’ll share the link with your car-loving friends.

Beautiful car. I want it!!! I'm inheriting a '65 grand prix. I want tri power on it.
Love that car!!!
It is something else!

Impressive car! The golden era of muscle cars.
I'm 72 years old. After my discharge from the navy I purchased a 67 goat. It was beautiful and I loved it. It was stolen. To this day I still dream of that car
There is still time to get another one.

Awesome car (of course I'm a bit biased...). Originally equipped with super rare aluminum front brake drums! Wonder where they are now? I want them!
Great video and one of my favorite cars/years.
Same here!
Best year!
Beautiful Goat! Nice growl.
I would dearly love to have one of these cars. My dad had one that was tiger gold with black interior.

I will always regret not buying a ‘67 convertible for my first car.
I loved GTO'S ! I had a 67 and a 69.
Excellent car!
BEAUTIFUL! Reminds me of "I Dream of Jeannie". I like your quiet exhaust with headers. Is it true duals? What mufflers? Any other details?
Nice GTO.
The beauty of the muscle car era.
One of the best for sure.
Stunning!
Absolutely.
The Nova kicked his butt good
Love it!
Me too!
Headrests were available that year. Royal's drag cars had them.

That is a great air cleaner.
...with some tastefully realistic updates...for real-world enhancements
Those mods make the car perfect.
what cam did you use
Dominic Toretto approves this Goat!!

I LIKED IT
Thanks!
5 spd, great upgrade.
It sure is.
I have a tripower , what's it worth? Numbers match.
My dad had the same car bought new in 66.

manual gearbox? Is it an MG.
It is an MG: Mighty Goat.
Hellow. I. Love. That car. Wish. I. Can't. Own. One. Zoom. Zoom
Great looking car except for the red wheel wells. Why?
They were optional (lighter weight)
@@musclecarcampy9922 Right, I'm sure they add HP and MPG.
They were standard on the W-30 Oldsmobile 442, too. Probably took 25 lbs off the nose of the car, which is huge for drag racing.
@@musclecarcampy9922 I have no recollection of it. I assume they are plastic and red to...show them off?
Fiberglass, technically, and yes, there’s made them stand out.
Is this GTO for sale
No.
He has a 67 steering wheel on a 66 mine is a 66
My. Brother. Use. To. Own. One. Dark. Red. Color 4 Speed
Lovely car, but it is just too big, should have pared about 2 - 3 feet off the body!
Cars were definitely getting bigger then. No denying that it’s gorgeous, though.
That was considered Mid-size in the 60's
