  • You know what? Women are creating women's history right now!
Recently, I was invited to speak at a celebration of life held at the LGBTQ Community Center in New York City for my friend and mentor, Barbara Love. She was a truly remarkable woman whose activism and writings played an essential part in uniting the early women's liberation and gay movements.
My remarks that day describe an encounter I had with Sidney Abbott and Barbara Love's book, "Sappho Was a Right-On Woman," which turned my world upside-down. That pivotal moment in 1973 transformed my consciousness and propelled the next fifty years of my work in Women's Music.
If you want to see Barbara in action, drop by The American Archive of Public Broadcasting (americanarchive.org/catalog/c...) and watch a fascinating 1974 PBS interview with this amazon, in all her glory. Here she demonstrates the magnetic, yet casual precision and effortless style that made her such a force in both public and behind-the-scenes activism. Visit Veteran Feminists of America (veteranfeministsofamerica.org...) for more of Barbara's story and those of other feminist pioneers.
    Onward and Outward!

Hi Margie I was a part of the times you speak of here. I have recently revisited all the music from that time and have been inspired again!! I think I was too young to fully appreciate the enormous gift you all gave us- so as inadequate as the word is I will use it to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also photographed a lot of those times and have some of you. Where can I send them?
    Bless you Margie❤

Hi Margie I did send a couple of photos and wondering if you received them. If they were too small I might be able to send bigger versions☺️
    Thanks again!

I met this woman at the 40th National Women's Music Festival and she spoke with us not once but twice. I then understood why Meg Christian was so excited to meet Margie 50 years ago. Thank you Margie for the pin you gave me and for being present here. Often when I need 'one of us' I get a visit. Feels good!

Hi, 🐦🐦🦜🦜🦜May I share the most important news you will ever hear? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
