    This is the type of loss that could affect OU's recruiting for several years. Would not be surprised to see some top players decommit and hit transfer portal.

      My thoughts exactly. You can take some losses, even bad ones, and OU was missing it's QB as well, but that doesn't have anything to do with the 49 points (should have been 56 with that wide open Tx receiver in the end zone, or even 59 with the missed FG). But as a team, they have to still fight and play with pride, and they just gave up after the first drive of the 2nd half.
      The OU offense only had like.... 25 yards I think in the 2nd half.

      @@Juan_deep , the answer to your question is Lincoln Riley, he took several of their best players with him, when he left for USC. He really screwed the OU football program for years to come.

      Not his fault when the best players were out from Last Week by the Ruthless TCU.
      Also similar to LSU 2020, lots of Freshmen and Sophomores. But a completely different coaching.

      this is all bad coaching on OUs part. The players were out of position, lacking blocking and tackling fundamentals, very little adaptation to UTs offense (although I did see more this week than last week against TCU). It looks like OUs first day of spring training. This is just ALL bad coaching.

    I've never in my life seen such a one sided game between two big time programs. On all aspects of the game. It went the Horns way from start to finish. Oklahoma didn't have one good block, one good punt, or one good idea.

    And whats more concerning for Oklahoma is their schedule down the stretch. They still have an upstart Kansas team, Baylor, a Bedlam game with Oklahoma State (whos already pissed about OU leaving the Bedlam series) and an on again, off again Texas Tech team. If Venables seat wasnt already warm after 2 conference losses, then it started to smoke after being womped by Texas.

      As ugly as this game got for OU, Texas visibly took the foot off the gas. OSU will likely not show them the same mercy. The new record set by Texas may not last long. I would not at all be surprised to see Mike Gundy try to score 70 on OU.

    Sarkisian being an SEC vet has got Texas in a pretty good position for the move to SEC. This is what it could be like on a weekly for Oklahoma in the SEC. As far as Texas, as I said they have a coach who was under Saban and knows the SEC, has got an awesome recruitment class that started with Arch Manning, and can clearly get Texas to hang with Alabama despite losing their starting QB early in the game. I’d say Texas is in a good spot for a move to SEC where it could get ugly for Oklahoma if they don’t figure something out.

      @@kycone A mediocre Texas team led by Tom Herman throttled Georgia in the Sugar Bowl just a few years ago. And Missouri with Drew Lock in a bowl game the year before that. Texas also played LSU to a one score game when Joe Burrow was making his Heisman and NC run. And, Texas dropped a wide open pass in the end zone in that game that would have tied it. Historically, Texas has beaten Alabama nearly four times as often as they've lost to them. Texas will be just fine in the SEC. Especially with the soft OOC scheduling the SEC seems to employ to pad their win columns.
      I mean, look at A&M. They're awful and they beat Alabama last year. The SEC is without a doubt the best overall athletic conference in the country but it isn't as big of a gap as some would have people believe.

    I went to my first OU game in 1963. Since then I haven’t missed a game be in in person, TV, Radio, etc.
    The 49-0 shellacking we took from our most hard foe Texas is the worst I’ve ever seen. There were some games under John Blake that were bad, but this gives a whole other level to “suck” when defining an effort in a football game.
    From peewee to the NFL, this game is the most humiliating in OU history. Period.

    As a huge Texas fan. This might have been the most enjoyment I've ever gotten out of the horns. All those close losses and we finally gave the sooners what they deserve and exposed how bad they are without a heisman quarterback

    Keep in mind that Oklahoma has ruled the conference pretty much since 2000... all good things eventually come to an end, and it was a pretty good run for them. As a Sooners fan and OU grad, I am very disappointed with how the team is now, but.. it may not be the end forever. And it's still satisfying to know that OU has a better football history than most college teams out there. A sh*t year like this was bound to happen eventually. Good for Texas, they may finally be back. Good luck for the rest of the season Horns, it looks like it will more than likely be between you and OSU, possibly TCU. Represent the Big 12 well!

    Venables is like a brother to the Clemson alums and the Tigers. He helped build the Clemson program back to greatness and took assistant coach as far as you can. Then he stepped into this, his dream job. I hope OK gives him the years its gonna take to rebuild.

    Venables needs to Pull a Mike Leach but for a QB. in In a Game in 2008 at TTU Mike Leach Suited up the Winner to the Half Time 30 Yard FG to Win Free Rent. That Kid Kicked FGs for TTU for 2 and Half Seasons Kicking some Game Winning FGs.

      Texas might actually be in a better position for when it does come time to move to the SEC especially with this recent commits that started with Arch Manning. Then there’s SEC vet Sarkisian and that awesome showing vs Bama keeping the game tight. They are set up pretty good for the SEC move where as Oklahoma seems to be in a bad spot come SEC time. It could get ugly for the Sooners.

Missouri won two sec east titles since they came to the sec and there are 8 teams that have been there forever and haven't won a thing..       As Riley's recruiting got better, his team got worse. That should tell you all you need to know about his coaching. He was only good at conducting players who were already built up and disciplined. But he can't build players from the bottom worth crap. Which is why he chose to go to a bigger program, in a weaker conference, and spends millions trying to get his hands on as many high star players as he can. He's a great play designer and OC... but he's a pretty pretentious HC.

    In my small opinion….the problem is that OU is struggling in the Big 12…..but have committed to head forward into the SEC?!? That’s nuts! I don’t place blame solely on the coaching staff….at least Venables has experience with battling those SEC teams.
    The players aren’t playing.
    If they keep this up….OU will be one of the weaker teams in the SEC.
