Technology of growing onions in the south of Ukraine

  • We grow onions from sowing seeds to harvest. Teaching video and theory.
    Onions - a popular vegetable crop, food product. Mature onions contain minerals: sulfur, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium. The composition also includes vitamins: C, A, B1, B2 and essential amino acids (up to 520 mg per 100 grams).
    This is a perennial plant, which consists of:
    - tubular leaves;
    - Modified shoot - onion;
    - Donets - shortened escape, in which buds are laid.
    Onions - cold-resistant culture, growing from +5 degrees Celsius. Sowing is done in early spring. Predecessors: tomato, melons, winter wheat. Pre-sowing tillage includes cultivation and leveling. Sowing depth - up to 3 cm.
    Further, on the cultivation of onions from sowing to ripening:
    - sowing scheme and seeding rate;
    - the importance of seeding accuracy;
    - Onion root system and water supply;
    - periods of onion growth: sprouting and development of the bulb;
    - problems of bulb growth;
    - drip irrigation of onions, placement of irrigation tapes;
    - removal of batteries;
    - fertilization by the method of fertigation;
    - phosphate fertilizers for onions: when to give and for what;
    - nitrogen for growth;
    - potash fertilizers and orthophosphoric acid are applied from the phase of 6-7 leaves;
    - the use of potassium humate (Concentrated Growth);
    - leaf top-dressings (phase 3-4 of this leaf);
    - the use of trace elements (Chelate Potassium, Manganese,);
    - the use of herbicides on the bow;
    - diseases of onions and the fight against them (instruments and agricultural technology);
    - pests of onions (insecticides and acaricides).
