      Haha thanks man and how did you know! I replaced the ones that I gave away while in Bermuda. In all seriousness, I might have to work back up in Fort McMurray, Alberta again. Flying back and forth for work. 8 days on 6 days off. I'm working a 4/3 shift right now so it's pretty much the same but I'll be away longer. Not in stone yet but it's very possible. We'll see!

    That vis is crazy! Dove last week in the Puget Sound with 2m vis. Kind of hard to get motivated and a little scary to dive when you can barely see the tips of your fins.

      Yeah we got super lucky. The visibility is often good in the area due to all the current but I had never seen it this good. Bad visibility sucks but still beats staying dry! Agreed though, takes away from of the enjoyment for sure...

    Great content! If you get a moment please can you explain more about the ocean and why it's seems unhealthy in that one spot, is it the fish farms causing issues etc?. It doesn't have to be in reply to this comment but for future content, if you could maybe show a healthy video clip and help educate more on your findings. Super cool to learn more about the ocean through your content, Keep up the good work!.

      Great idea man, I edit the footage and add a voice over after. Sometimes I want to explain more than I do but I run out of time with the music/song/flow. It's probably not the most efficient way to edit but I'm an amateur and self taught haha. I'll make a video and go on a rant. Talk about what I see and my concerns/frustrations. Cheers man!

    Fabuuulous as always. Can you share if Brian has a channel to see about the documentary or his other cinematography videos? Hope y'all survived that storm prior few days...hope did not lose power nor the family on island in the case you maybe were on mainland. Did you hear about sea lion group breaking into another Tofino fish farm in last few days --now unhealthy farmed salmon out in 'general population'.
    I am so glad you continually bring awareness to the travesties 'we' as humans continually, and often all knowingly, plague all the environments around us. Not enough content creators do so and I think it is important. Plus when your kiddos are older they will watch your videos and learn from you.
    **Have you checked out website for 'the' Jackie Hildering 'The Marine Detective' . . . based NE Van Island...immense background. She has great blog with all the photos of various items found in 'our' Salish Sea etc. Maybe the 'worm' thing will be in there.
    Jasmine . . . you are 'the' bomdigity of mama's & great to see partnership thriving like this in this day n' age.

    • @PNWSamson
      @PNWSamson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you again for the wonderful comments, they mean a lot. My wife is great, can't be believe what she puts up with. All the hard work she does is definitely not unappreciated! And unfortunately I did hear about that... Everyone's response "we need to cull them" yet they fail to see the damage their own actions are causing. Basking sharks were once common in the Salish Sea until commercial fishermen killed them all as they were competition for fish. Literally just history repeating itself. The Herring fishery on the east coast just got shut down and you can't blame that on sea lion. Commerical fishing is the common denominator yet the industry is blind. Herring roe gets shipped to Japan and China while the herring gets turned into dog food and fish farm food. Meanwhile the backbone of the food chain is left in a critical state. Sickening... I hope there is a ocean for my kids to dive in while they are my age but I have my doubts. I hope things change one day but I get the feeling they won't in all our lifetime. Sad realities...

    • @abeach5420
      @abeach5420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PNWSamson Yes great points and 'facts'. The sea lions are more so protected in this case as there was illegal killings in prior years by fish
      farms here in BC. They are being watched. They are positively ballerinas in the water and big slugs when beached. I have 'met' a cple in Tofino before in the water and it was more terrifying than sharks met in Australia, haha, Your wee kiddos are outstanding and I cannot imagine people not watching the full video just to see their reactions and faces, haha. Bit of cheap advice my 2 cents is the fact that you're saying all the stuff about humans there's nothing new for anybody we all know that there's more and more humans every day and there's gonna be until we're all gone one way or the other so what your basically doing is sort of ruining your videos.. Just my opinion but your videos would be a log better and enjoyable without that.

    • @PNWSamson
      @PNWSamson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the advice man. I guess what I see just angers me. People destroying amazing ecosystems out of greed. Hopefully by providing some images and explanations about the cause/effect our actions have it will make people think twice about their actions. At least that's my hope. I want people to enjoy my videos, but my ultimate goal is to spread awareness around conservation and fishing regulations/best practices. Hell, before I started diving I was pretty ignorant and clueless. My footprint has reduced 10 fold since I started diving. Will I reach everyone? No. And I don't expect too. But hopefully some will get the picture. The fact that we don't kill sea otter anymore for fur pelts shows you that humans have the potential to change.
