Standing by for Part 2. Good to hear a fighter pilot story from day 1. I hope the F-14s & F-4's are flying in airshows again someday. I remember them both in 1984 when I was 4yrs old with my Dad. I learned then, America was Badass. That sheer sound of Freedom never leaves the Soul 🇺🇲
Thanks Mr Ritland - for me - your podcast is my go too. I listen to many however I thoroughly enjoy how you interview your guests. Happy Holidays and best wishes for 2024.
All the thanks goes to you sir. Thanks you for all the incredible guest you interview. Your no bs style of interviewing is very unique. Thank you again. Hoping for your show to reach a New echelon in 2024! Happy holidays everyone!
Thank you for bringing the best content nobody else really gets into. Love the channel love the causes and personally I greatly appreciate your channel keeping my mond from wandering to dark places. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas 🎄🤙
I finally ordered my First Bubs Collagen Powder December 24/ 2023. Great Podcast looking forward to Round 2. Great guest. Thank You Mr. Ritland another awesome year of information and the BAD ASS guests of 2023…
Fond memories of when i was a Navy AIC (Air Intercept Controller). In 94 they took us to the dome sim he mentioned and let us fly to give us an appreciation for the calls we provided the pilots
Mike, you are very top of my list for interviewers.. Love your line of questions and considering what listeners might want to know even if you already do 💪
Thank you to you and your Team, Mike ! The shows have been awesome from the start, and we really appreciate the content and the way you've stayed steady and engaging throughout the entire show. Happy Holidays and best wishes !
Awesome interview Mike. Sortie is a french verb that means “to go out”. A lot of words in aviation are French origin from WWI when airplanes first started first got off the ground. Words like aileron, empennage (tail), Chandelle (a type of maneuver) etc. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Thank you!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Mike. Thank you for the podcast, your service and for putting out some amazing content for us. See you back in 2024.
Sortie: In French, the word sortie literally means "a going out," from a Latin root, surgere, or "rise up." Definitions of sortie. a military action in which besieged troops burst forth from their position. synonyms: sally.
Really great podcast. Just so you know .... 1. Angled deck (allowing for bolters): a British Invention; 2. call the ball on the Deck Landing Sight: a British invention and 3. the Steam catapult: a British invention (I know the new Ford class have EMALS). (Even the T-45 trainer is a (highly modified) version of the British Hawk jet.) It's ironic then that, after creating these 3 essentials that make modern CATOBAR naval aviation possible, the UK government and Royal Navy opted for the F35B VSTOL version for their QE carriers.. All the very best to all for 2024 from the UK 🇬🇧.
Takes a while to pick up the acronyms and initialises but once they are in your head, they’re there for good. I’m an RAF veteran and for me SWO means ‘Station Warrant Officer’, responsible to the RAF Station Cmdr for good order and discipline.
As a recreational pilot with 500 hours of VFR in Redbird Airport Dallas Texas. Love ❤️ Love LOVE hearing his stories !! My favorite jet is the F-16 built in Fort Worth Texas !! 🇺🇸❤️🥰😍 thanks. Love hearing wanted to be a Navy Seal and Mike wanted to be a Navy Pilot !! Greatness both !! Happy New Years. Is Mike still in Copper Texas ?? Thanks 🙏
Merry Christmas 🎄✨️and thank you for all the great videos 🙏🏼Alwas interesting and informative 👍🏼I'm looking forward to 2024 and many new great interviews 🎤 All the best and greetings from Germany 🐕🐾 🇩🇪🤝🏻🇺🇸🎗🫡
I don’t like to boast but you can thank my country and the Royal Navy for, the angled flight deck, the steam catapult, the mirror landing sight and RAS, (Replenishment At Sea).
1:35:31 Quick web search for Nimitz class carrier say around a minimum of 64 fighter jets Where the hell do they all fit along with the other aircraft lol
Russia wont sell engines to China anymore without airframes, and they seal the engines shut because China hasn't yet got the reverse engineering down on the engines, and they kept trying to buy just the engines. China has a very bad grasp on metallurgy, Rockwell-like hardnesses, durometer softness for seals, and tolerances. Their airframes crack a lot and their engines fail quickly.
The planes can’t fly at those speeds that low to the ground. They’re made to fly at those speeds up in the thin air. That low to the ground they would have broken apart or stalled. You are talking 200knots over max. The planes couldn’t take it. Your boy is saying it’s not hard because he’s thinking about how slow he is moving at low altitude. Have him do that steep of a drop at almost 600mph. Watch 9/11 a New Pearl Harbor to the pilot who flew two of the planes involved. Watch the testing that they use in designing the aircraft. There’s no way. Not possible.
@ObamaFromKenya I think now you can’t have reached your 23rd bday by July 1 of year you’re admitted. Seems like it was 22 when I went because I didn’t have enough time to go to the prep school which I certainly could have benefited from.
That’s every swinging dick, some guys/gals not prior service actually show up with 1-2 years college or military because this is their dream. Don’t take it lightly.

Which airshow would that have been?
The F-14’s are all gone .
If you want to see one in an air show you have to go to Iran !
They are still flying F-14 a that they upgraded themselves .
@@josephpadula2283 I’m asking OP where he went to the airshow in ‘84.
I'm ex British army and I remember the gr4s,sea kings and there was a phantom I also saw a Vulcan take off that feels like the world was shacking😂😂😂

Sortie is a French word meaning exit or rise up, and it refers to a deployment or dispatch of one military unit from a base, or in this case the ship.
Merry Christmas!!
Sorte is a French word meaning “ To go out” .
We probably picked it up in WWI from fighting in France .
I grew up in the Bothell /Kirkland area of washington.
Sortie - French word for exit or to go out...
Happy holidays sir 🫡
🎄Merry Christmas Mike!

Sortie is from the French meaning way out or exit
I served on Subs. Carrier Pilots can’t land when their “Base” is on the bottom of the Sea.
I live 30 Mi outside of Top Gun Air Base I live in Fernley Nevada Top Guns in Fallon

I graduated Annapolis in 94. I was prior service Marine. It’s a kick in the balls every day. At least it was for me.
