Wanted to feel that love, wanted to give that love to someone else, but alas, you couldn’t seem to talk to anyone for the life of you. Sitting back down in your corner, you couldn’t help but feel lonely seeing how every couple looked at each other with so much adoration in their eyes. Feeling awkward now, you walked out with a sigh, but not before catching the eye of someone across the room. Now in the parlor, you let yourself become consumed by your thoughts, watching as each drop of rain fell. Oblivious to the newcomer now walking into the room, you were startled, realizing it was the same person you made eye contact with earlier. “Mind if I sit?” they said. Too nervous to say anything else, you simply nodded. As you both sat talking in the parlor, you started to notice small things, like their crooked smile when they laughed, or the twinkle in their eyes whenever they talked about something they enjoyed. You tried to smush these new feelings down, not knowing that they felt the same way as well.. after a few moments of comfortable silence, they spoke up “May I have this dance?”, deciding to finally take a chance for once, you gave them a smile, and responded with a simple “yes”. As you both swayed together, you realized that you didn’t feel so lonely anymore, because now you had someone to share your love with. Closing your eyes, hearing the song playing faintly in the next room, you both enjoy the silence that’s been engulfed by the steady rainfall outside the window.

pov: you’re an avenger who accidentally got some of the super soldier serum when helping as steve got it in the 40s. it’s 2023 and you’ve been through thick and thin with him and though you never got all the ‘hero-like’ side effects, at least you and steve have made it this far.
right now, he has just gone back in time and you followed suit though he didn’t expect this in the slightest. this song is playing, god you love this song- you know steve loves it too, he must be near.
