      I know what you mean. They really seemed to enjoy that especially Rana. It is more interesting to me to see them eat proper food from all kinds of countries rather than endless burgers and junk. I find it a little bit embarrassing if the junk food is the best they think the west has to offer. Still I imagine some of the big companies are good sponsors for the channel and the gentlemen are always polite.

    Lived on Guam for 3 years and never heard of this famous dish. Would have liked to taste this dish. The people are wonderful and inviting to their festive celebrations. Glad these funny loving Tribal people are trying this dish. Always happy and humble.

      This is considered a comfort type meal, normally served within families. So you don't see it often at like fiestas or parties. :)

    I was on Guam for a long time. I have not seen tinatak in 53 years. How fun it is. Some of the islands I went to back then , they were still wearing grass skirts and paddling dug-out canoes.

      It just looks like beef stew with coconut milk. You could make this easily with canned meat and veg.

      @farahrenard4074 you are calling me a liar? Maybe my statement got lost in translation? Here in the US we use the term "canned" loosely. Homemade "canned" goods come in glass jars and we call the process canning.

    I love Tribal People Try and always watching the videos and I had to share this with you. I had a very strange dream the other night in which my brother and I were driving in America and we were pulled over by the police and the officer that came to our car was Chaudhary Rafique 😁 He spoke perfect English and told me the reason he stopped me was that I had an alcoholic drink 5 days ago. I still laugh about it now. How strange dreams are eh?

    I knew a family that I went to church with when I was a kid that were from Guam. I remember they had these tiny peppers in a jar that were VERY HOT. I work with their grandson and next time we work the same shift, I need to ask him about Beef Tinaktak.

    Coconut milk?!! Yes! But after seeing this village cook WITH PEPPERMINT, I now consider all spices 'fair game'. Wow... I'd have never thought of using peppermint with lamb and chicken stews. Soooo amazing.

      Spices are used in different ways in different countries.
      In most English countries cinnamon is used in sweet dishes in most foreign countries it is used in soups,stews,curries and in general cooking.

    This has always been a comfort food choice for me. My grandma, mom and now my wife have all made this for me. It truly does make me feel happy eating it. It is awesome to see others react to it and try it :)

    The name tinaktak is an onomatopoeia. The meat would originally be ground/chopped by hand using heavy knives that would make a rhythmic almost drum like sound. The had it right off the bat with hand drum inference.

    Sir, thank you for this food suggestion! I had never heard of this but I found a recipe and made it yesterday. At first I was unsure about it because it’s very different from what I’m used to.     The name tinaktak comes from the Chamorro (people of the Mariana Islands) word "taktak" which means to tap on something referring to the process of tapping the meat with a tenderizer.
