I've been in bed with the flu all week, and just those few seconds of hearing Gul Sher's laughter brought joy to my heart and lightened my mood. Some people are just blessed with the gift of laughter that brings joy to all who hear it, and Gul Sher is one of those folks. I enjoy all their laughter, it's always a bright spot.
I wish all our beloved gentlemen love and laughter and goodness.

    • @redemptusrenatus5336
      @redemptusrenatus5336 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Hi-bl8rm Oh if you want to know tasteless tamales... you should try having tamales made by Mexican Indians in very rural regions. My Dad lived in Mexico in the 50's and was pretty remote out there and he was used to eating Tamales in the states (full of meat and different salsas, etc). He was with these Mexican Indian guys and they asked if he wanted tamales. He said sure he LOVES tamales and so they present him with a big basket with plenty of them, and he instinctively grabs about 8 of them. These Mexican Indians lived very plain and simple lives, with plain pants, shirt, waistband as a belt, and a big machete. I mention that because my Dad took a big bite out of one of the tamales only to find out that these are PLAIN MAIZE tamales, without SALT.... no meat... no salsa... no spices.. nothing. So as to not offend them he had to scarf down all 8 plain jane tamales and when they asked if he wanted more he said he was stuffed LOL Now those were definitely tasteless. 🤣

I love what we call "sweet tamales" (pronounced: Tah-mal-ehs) but I believe the spicy variety are more popular. I'm just a wimp and can't handle anything too spicy, lol. Those were probably the smallest tamales I've ever seen though. Generally I only see them at least 4 times the size at minimum. 😅
BTW, I'm 100% Puerto Rican but I can appreciate my fellow Latin/Hispanic people's food. 😁👍 We Puerto Ricans tend to make something somewhat similar that we call Pasteles (which is made with green bananas and/or white yuca instead instead of corn wrapped around pre-cooked pork, chicken or seafood filling) that is traditionally encased in leaves for cooking but can also be wrapped in paper before being boiled in salt water for about 45 minutes before serving. I miss my mom making those (may she rest in peace). 💔

I love these gentlemen ❤️ so many things of what they said resonated with me, a Mexican. Like yes we serve this on some parties, it was indeed invented by our indigenous acenstors and when I was little I did imagine some very ritualistic preparation of the tamales after hunting or sacrificing domestic animals, sadly a lot of prehispanic information is lost so I guess we don't really know how they prepared them in the old days... also I have eaten tamales while traveling, not while walking but on busses and cars, not as easy as they imagine... easiest and more efficient are tacos xD
EDIT why are those tamales so small?

C'mon y'all! Give these fine folks a break! Even if the tamales are a bit on the small side, I think people tend to forget that it's not like they have a Publix, Walmart or Mexican specialty store on the corner of every city block in their part of the world! So, it could well be a case of making it work with the best they had available *to them*
The guys sure enjoyed them and as always, were very gracious and grateful for the food that comes from all different cultures and countries this channel exposes them to.
I guess I'm just trying to say that no matter what size those yummy looking tamales were, they're still a new and exciting food (and cultural) experience for them!
Hats off to the chef for doing a great job with whatever he (or she) had available to work with!
Much love and abundant blessings to everyone in the TPT family! 💛🕊🙏🏻

It's a street food: roasted corn on the cob, and then your choice of toppings - cojita, chili powder, butter, crema, salt, lime, pepper, etc.

Around the holidays back in Texas Mexican families would get together and make an assembly line to make a huge amount ,occasionally having enough to sell to-co workers after hours. It is an ancient way to cook with leaves. Some Islander and Asian foods were cooked with banana leaves and even the "plates"were banana leaves and apparently in Mexico's neighbor Guatemala banana leaf tamales are made.

All the tamales I've ever had
      were just rolled and folded
      with the folded end stacked
      downward to hold it closed
      when loading up the pot.
      Of course, after they're cooked
they will stay rolled up until
      the person eating them unwraps
      it.

According to texts made by first travelers, tamales were very common in the city of Tenochtitlan and existed in great variety of stuffings and tastes, also available sold on street as fast-food.
