Our house has thumbs up for almost every Ebonite thrown, some of our friend's, such as the LaneBreaker, is still in use. Currently my league ball is the Drastic Fusion hybrid GB12.7 cover & wife is using the Stinger pearl Detonator 2020 cover. We surface the covers at 4000 every few months, with alcohol cleanings after every league night, easy to maintain. My ball down is the GB Asym & wife has a Cyclone, again both at 4000. CB-2 is the fastest revving core that I have ever tossed, from any manufacturer. First used it in a Pivot hybrid, did win a state title, playing it all 8 games.
Yeah, I echo the surface tutorial! Awesome! Ebonite is a tough one for me... I'm going to go with the GB4 Hybrid (I really liked that ball when I rolled it), then the Game Breaker 2 (solid with a similar motion), then a Maxim Night Sky (because I love a spare ball). Probably should do the Envision for more flip but I don't do well with the pearls... I would need to try it.
Well I can only do a 2-ball arsenal because the only balls from Ebonite I ever had were in the 70's and early 80's. So my arsenal would be the Ebonite Gyro balanced Earl Anthony Magmun 7 (shiny rubber) and the Ebonite Magnum 12 (urethane). Good stuff!
Old stuff: matrix tps II, apex adrenaline, matrix dynasty. That three ball combo paid for a lot of my college! Right now, have (2019?) Matrix solid, Allure (@ 2k), GB3 black and blue w/compound. I need newer equipment! Hahha!
I would use the Gyro balls Earl used. Wouldn't care how I bowled. I would be telling everyone I am using the balls the greatest bowler of all time used. Earl Anthony. There was a guy in league using a 3 dot classic. I had to go over to him and let him know the memories of my childhood are coming back!
when i first got the GB4 hybrid i didn't like it at all i couldn't make it move but man now that i have some games on it its becoming a great burn/beat up pattern ball for me im really tempted to get the emerge only because i need a ball that i can move left with. i got the offset attack and its a great ball but not what i wanted it
Question: how frequently should a bowler maintain surface? Should it be done after every time one uses their ball, or for e.g., a 2000 surface, will this surface hold up longer? Is there a rule of thumb? Thanks.
Duller balls need it more as the covers will smooth out as you use them. Comes down really to feel, keeping tabs on your Arsenal and where each ball fits in. The loss of performance is gradual so you may not notice it immediately. With the Emerge at 2000, I’d probably want to hit that fresh every time I bowl if I really like it at 2k.

If we must go way back, I really liked the Timberwolf and Grey Wolf. Had a couple Panteras too.

I liked the Xcel balls. I have a polaris, one remix and thinking about a gb4 hybrid as third. I will miss my ebonite gladiator.

The last time I had Ebonite balls in my bag the 3 ball would have been the Stinger 2 piece, Tiger, and Pantera. ;) Tiger used to be my go to ball.
