I am a 65-year-old mother and grandmother. Thank you for a podcast that reaches across the age gap. I have already gone through the child raising issues. So, I pour me a cup of coffee, lace it with Bailey's and sit back and laugh for an hour. Thank you! As a mother that raised 2 girls and 1 grandson, I feel like I have earned it. LOL. THANK YOU!!!!!!
💙💙🤌🤌 I feel that! I am a 43 year old mom. My daughter is an adult now and am fresh in this "Me time". This podcast really is for all of us!!! I don't drink, but have my 💨💨 enjoying this podcast in my RV on my new journey! 💙💙
I feel like I've earned it also. However im a 67 y.o. Grandma lvg in Atlanta STILL raising ny 11 & 10 y.o. grandkids while my bonus dtr finishes her 2nd nursing degree. She has spent 10k on gastro surgery & $4k on golden doodles > $0 to send me or her parents on a real vacay & upset if we talk 2 her @ children saying there's no food in the frig!!! Any tips 🙏🏽 lmk
Thank you so much showcasing Charissa’s story and decision to not have children. I made the same decision for almost exactly the same reasons! Someone once asked me if I feel “selfish” for not having children, and I was so shocked! The decision I made was because I didn’t want to bring a child into the world if I couldn’t provide them with everything they deserved. I think it was the opposite of selfish. So thank you for this. Love the podcast so much. ❤
Mine was more of a health reasoning. I have Cerebral Palsy (mild) with seizures. And I've always said I'm not willing to risk my health just so I can say I brought another life into the world. Being on the short side (4 foot 9 and a half) I know they would outweigh me and be taller than me and that would be a hassle for me in the long term.
as a fellow non-mother who thought I would be, I feel so validated after your conversation with Charissa! never got married (thank god!) but came close twice in long term relationships that just became so chaotic and toxic and destructive I had to take a step back and ask myself, how do you keep ending up here? Both relationships destroyed me, and with added PTSD from multiple deployments, I just decided it was more important to protect my peace, and potentially any child’s wellbeing, from being in that orbit. Maybe someday when I retire, and don’t move every 3-5 years, I’ll be a foster mom.
Hope your PTSD gets better. No one should ask anyone anything about having children. It is so offensive. I married my high school boyfriend who went in the Navy, as I am sure you know wives, especially ones whose husband's go out to sea are almost required to have children. I told my then boyfriend I did not want to have kids. He agreed. I am not cut out for human children. I am very much cut out for animal children. I am now 54 and do not regret it. I prefer not to be around them or hear them to this day, but any stray cat or dog that comes up to me, I will give so much love and start feeding them. I got sidetracked. Sorry. Everyone constantly asked us when we were going to have children. We both said never then they would say something like "I am so sorry. Why can't you have them or you can still adopt." How dare people assume I physically can't have them, that that must be the only reason we aren't having them." Do not make anyone ever make you feel less than or something is wrong with you! It is your life. Live it how you want.🫡
As someone who is 35 and child free by choice with my husband.. thank you so much for this episode. I respect the hell out of my friends who are parents and love that they are committed to family. It was just never for me with how volatile my life was growing up ❤ 10/10
Good for you knowing what you both did not want to do. Being a parent is a choice. I wish people would stop being surprised when couples chose not to have kids.
Thank you so much for the conversations around Motherhood. I was only blessed with one child due to fertility issues. I can't tell you how many times I was told that I was going to ruin my son's life because he was an only child. It made me feel like I had to explain my medical history to complete strangers. These open conversations are so valuable. Thank you Kylie
Same, I've got tons of fertility issues so when people ask me why I only have one, I question myself on where to start and what to reveal in the conversation. Sometimes just saying he was our miracle after 10 yrs of trying is enough but other times I'll let them know how many miscarriages I've had
Really appreciating all these honest conversations with beautiful, strong and successful women that have different realities. Really appreciated Charissa’s honesty and perspective about children/motherhood.
So back in 2018 my daughter had just had 6 brain surgeries and all she wanted to do was see Taylor Swift and so we got to go to the Reputation show in Nashville and I had the same reaction watching her sing every song. She had to miss the show in Tampa that we bought tickets for in 2016 because she was undergoing brain surgery on the day of the show. She was 17 at the time and so we fulfilled our promise to her 2 years later. It was so magical.
Such good stuff Kylie! As someone who's never gotten pregnant, and became a stepmom at 45, I totally related to your story of pulling over the car and telling our daughter, 'okay, you're not listening, and maybe you need to walk home and think about what you're doing'. Phew, I felt that moment. That then 7 year old is now 26, and lovely as can be and I'm so grateful she came out the other side of those times. My only thought for Charissa, who I am now a big fan of, is I'm so glad she is giving herself grace for any mistakes or choices in the past. We all make them, and we can all get better every day. Much love to you wonderful people.
This is my favorite episode so far, I met Charissa because of the episode they made about the Eras tour, but that didn't allow me to see the depth of her personality, and the conversation about choosing not to be a mom... I have made that decision, for different reasons, but to listen to someone talk so genuinely about this and to not get criticized by the host (props to Ky for this) It is amazing ❤
@ 37:00 Ladies, this conversation was so good❤ Marriages are complicated, fertility is complicated and everyone's journey is their own to live, whatever that is for them. Embracing all the people in your life and the complicated choices that make them the people that you love is what its all about❤
This podcast is the best!! I’m a wife, mom of 2 and work full time from home. This podcast brings so much levity and joy even when tackling hard topics. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for letting women speak about their experiences and how they can only control themselves so that is what she chooses to focus on. Great message!
Love both podcasts. Have watched Charissa & Erin as sports commentators and enjoy them so much. I love their humor. They've handled themselves graciously in the sports world. Excellent role models for young women.
I’m really grateful for yall talking about choosing not to have kids. I’m in a space of deciding that and listening to people who have kids and don’t together was healing
Kylie your podcast is so great. Your so down to earth. Jason and you should be crowned King and Queen of Philly. Your interview with Clarissa was so awesome. ❤
I am 67 years old and made the decision to not have children very early on. When I started dating my eventual husband, I made it very clear to him that I did not want children. Not that I dislike them but I knew I would be happy being a stay at home mom and I certainly did not have what it would take to work and also a good mother. I don’t think most people give it much thought and the all of a sudden when the kids are there, they realize that it is one of the hardest jobs in life to be a really good parent. I’ve heard all kinds of derogatory comments about that decision and yet today at 67 I know I made the absolute right decision for me.
I can see Kylie and Taylor having a sweet friendship. They both have that quirky/original/sweet personality. The animal lover segment is giving Taylor talking about cats😅. Also my daughter asked me “why does my elf just move from shelf to shelf” 😅😂😂
@@HildaOwen-e4f 💯 - these 3 ladies r so amazing! I’ve listened to the Calm Down Podcast for awhile now n they r awesome n always have me laughing. loving Kylie’s so far - just so real n raw n so hilarious ❤
This is such a wierd Podcaast for me to love, I feel like I am crashing Girls night. Then I get all choked up on a story about a Cancer Warrior at a TS concert. Kylie is the real deal..
I’m a failed tooth fairy, elf on the shelf and Santa. My girls are 14 and 15 now and I’m so thankful I don’t have to lie about why the tooth fairy fell sleep and why does an old fat white man get credit for me shopping for Christmas and spending my hard earned money. It was so liberating when my girls got older and I explained to them I’m not good at this parenting thing and I’ve never done it before so any feedback would be helpful. Keeping it real with my girls has definitely made us closer. Thanks for your podcast and give Tay Tay a hug for me. Love you all ❤
What a fuckin QUEEN to not spoil it for us with sick kids home from school today. I instantly turned the volume down to only I can hear and am still listening. What a goat fukin move. THANK YOU 🥰
"Do people actually have a preferred side?" This is why I love you - so refreshing and normal. I also think it would be fun to have an episode of just questions with you and no guest...I think people would love to just hear the questions and listen to your answers. Ha ha, on your Elf on the Shelf lies - I actually like that lie about her wings being wet because can you imagine how Wyatt envisioned that in her head - so you increased her imagination tenfold. Charissa Thompson, I am also a 12-year-old boy when it comes to those comments =). YAY on Stick with KC!! It meant so much to those kids for you to do that, and it also helped KC Field Hockey tremendously.
My attention is so focused on your PC. I so like your “mater of fact” attitude. Your approach to Wife, motherhood, and You! Are spot on. It’s a nice to hear someone like you.
I'm so excited to see her. I cracked up when she talked about the hair tie not working on her pants because of being 2 pregnant. I did the same thing. She is just so relatable in so many ways!
I love this show/podcast!!!! And Charissa Thompson is so strong for making the decision for her and be so strong to talk about it !!!! She is such a force for being honest !! Thanks Kylie for bringing strong women to your podcast!! ❤❤much love and you deserve this awesome tool .❤❤
Great episode again! 🎉 As someone who loves kids but couldn't have them, I felt a bit like an interloper in this space until today. Thanks, Kylie. You're like a friend I haven't met yet. Happy holidays, everyone! 💛
I love your show it’s just interesting and entertaining. I’m an old man with a beautiful daughter I adopted 22 years ago and grew up not wanting kids my choice but now I couldn’t be more proud of her. I am 73 years old and never felt so loved. So it’s never too late if you change your mind. It’s always your choice. Kylie keep up the good job people want to hear what you say.
Love the pod. Started watching Erin and Carissa this year after watching for years on football broadcasts. You are all wonderful women and role models. This was truly an enjoyable listen!
This was just fantastic!!!! I so wish you were doing this when my kids were little. I felt so pressured to be perfect. And nobody talked about being anything but. There wasn't room to be human without massive judgements from family and other moms. Thank you so very much for showing the world, by being real and authentic that being a mom is yes, hard, and also so worth it. ❤️
Your first time on “The Other Podcast” you were asked, who is funnier, you or your husband. You answered, your husband. I have to say that I think that the both of you are two of the funniest people in the podcast world. I’ll also add that the other person on that “Other Podcast” is right there with both of you. Can’t imagine family gatherings.
Love your podcast, Kylie! You are so down to earth and real-it is very refreshing! How do you manage your time so that each of your children get quality Mom time as you get busier and are now expecting another baby?
Thank you for sharing the topic of women choosing not to have children. My daughter has made this choice & I do not fault her for this, in the least bit! If you know, you know! Love the podcast & all of these women you have EVERY business talking to! 😊
Love this podcast!! I always felt bad that our elf was “lazy” and forgot to move. I often told my child that the elf saw him do something and was giving him an extra day to do better. He would tell on himself and be a perfect angel all day.
My kids asked why we don't have an Elf on the shelf. I told them all houses believe in a lot of different things during the holidays. Your dad's family is from Europe they don't have it there. That's how I got out of it and my kids can explain to other kids in a way that isn't exclusionary.
I never really cared for her music, but talk about a classy lady! You never see her showing her ass or badmouthing anyone. And her generosity is over the top!!
You are a breath of fresh air and such an awesome role model . . . for anyone! Our world has turned toxic and your frank, common sense comments are great advice for everyone! You do tend to downplay your impact, though! YOU ARE AWESOME!
At 34 I used infertility drugs only for a short period of time. I have PCOS which causes infertility issues. I am now 60 and don't regret my decision to continue to go further. Since the age of 24 I've been involved in cat rescue I thought I was done , last year I took in an injured feral cat who is fiv positive to live with me and my 2 other rescue cats and rescue dog whom I brought in after my dad passed away and I was the only daughter who promised neither would be put in a nursing home. Mom had dementia, I thought my dog Jake would be good for her, instead he turned out to be my savior. I haven't been without a cat or multiple in 37 years. They are great for the soul. People do horrific things to animals, I'm not a crazy cat lady, saving these animals has brought me great joy!❤❤❤❤ Happy childless cat lady
Our elf has gone on to another home, but he was a very still elf, too!! He only ever brought a note when our daughter was in very real danger of being on the naughty list.
Great episode Kylie…in coming weeks, can you talk about teaching children Resilience…both as a Mum and Coach…I’ve been a Physical Education Teacher in Australia for 25 years, and the kids I see nowadays really struggle with Resilience…
I am a 66 YO Father and Grandfather, but I love Kylie's podcast, because she is funny and real. I had a conversation at a Christmas Party two nights ago with a young couple who did not want children. I said to them that their decision was OK. They had the means, Charissa has the means, but it is OK. I applaud them for that.
I love this episode. I'm very happy that you included a strong woman like Charissa, who made the choice not to have kids, I love her Calm Down with Erin and Charissa podcast too. At 48 years of age, I also made the decision not to have kids and I've never regretted and if I change my mind in the future, I will chose to adopt. Thank you for another wonderful episode.
After our first dog passed by Senior year, Pops didn't want another dog. My mother however, had other ideas. He went on a business trip, she got a puppy, and when he came home, she had us meet him in the garage with a welcome home banner dog in hand. Garage door comes up, he sees the dog, garage door comes down. We don't seem him for two hours. Man needed to go on a drive and center himself. We kept the dog.
My daughter is 8 and fully invested in the magic of Christmas and it breaks my heart a little each time she tells me something someone at school said to try to bring her down about Santa, the elf, reindeer etc. I know the day is coming but man I am dreading that realization for her
This might be my favorite conversation so far. And they have all been great. But this was so great. Charissa is such a great speaker aswell. As someone who knew i never wanted kids i really loved this conversation. I love kids but i have enough self awareness that im not selfless enough for children. I love to travel, i love to be spontaneous and adventurous. Thats not an ideal life to bring children into. I think its important to know that sometimes choosing not to have kids can be whats best for your potential child aswell. I do think mothers are incredible and i admire women who have children but its not for everyone. And my adhd is wild at times 😂 you Kylie seem like an incredible mother in the way you carry yourself. And for sure there is a winner and loser in sports because you need to learn to bounce back from losing in life! This is really my new favorite podcast. Sending love from sweden
If you get a kitten, GET TWOOO!!! I beg!! They are great in pairs and I swear it’s arguably easier than just one because they will entertain each other 😂
Suggestion for getting Jason onboard for thr cat, try fostering. That way yall can try before you buy. That's how i got my husband on board for our two cats. I told him 7 day free trial, if he hated the cat, we would take it back (no way I was giving the cat back!) It took 24 hours and he walked in with the cat goes "I hate you, but we're keeping the cat!" He loves the cats now.
Married and no children, 60, and loving life. I knew from around 6 years old I never wanted children. And that has never changed. No regrets. Don't look back, look forward with joy and happiness.
Who wouldn't want to marry Charissa and have kids and be faithful. It's very easy to do but it takes work. My wife was divorced when we met and we have 6 great kids together. Great show Kylie.
I am so with you about Elf on the shelf. I thank heaven that my kids are grown so I don’t have to deal with that. I was busy enough getting ready for the holidays.
I didn't have kids so no elf here, but my great niece has an elf she named Bart. Bart isn't allowed to be a naughty or mischievous elf because it upsets her, so he just does nice things, like leaving her cute little notes, fun little puzzles to do, build a snownan from mini donuts, etc. She's 3, turning 4 soon.
I am a 65-year-old mother and grandmother. Thank you for a podcast that reaches across the age gap. I have already gone through the child raising issues. I love how she calls it 'The Other Podcast' 😂😂😂
No cross promotion here 🙅♀️😂
Same!
The other podcast isn't under Wave Sports anymore so she can't say the name lol
The other podcast is #1 for a reason

Always!
Who hasn't?!
💯
I love that you are fostering a safe space for women to support women! Great podcast Queen Kiana!!!!!!
Ill try helping
Do people not support women? News to me.

Same here 😂
I had to pause it to do the math in my head 😂
Really appreciating all these honest conversations with beautiful, strong and successful women that have different realities. Really appreciated Charissa’s honesty and perspective about children/motherhood.
Really appreciate the discussion about not having kids. Doesn't get talked about enough.

Loved her honesty about not having children.

Thanks for introducing us to Charissa! Loved this ep as usual.
Loved Charissa’s honesty, I can totally relate💙. Great conversation.
I loved this conversation. Thank you for hosting such a fun and interesting show.
The way you two lift each other up is amazing! Literally teared up at the end. Love this podcast soooo much!!!
Love this podcast! Thank you for covering that women have choices around motherhood.
I'm so glad someone asked about the rainbow pic! I had a feeling it was a sibling-on-sibling crime. Keep it up, Kylie!! Love what you're doing!
Thank you for sharing the topic of women choosing not to have children. My daughter has made this choice & I do not fault her for this, in the least bit! If you know, you know! Love the podcast & all of these women you have EVERY business talking to! 😊
Best episode yet! Loving the transitions and music!!!! Also best convo with Charissa and… yes Eras Tour memories!!! ❤❤❤
This podcast brings me so much joy! Great listen!
I have never felt so seen as a parent! Haha! Thank you, Kylie!
Love this podcast!! I always felt bad that our elf was “lazy” and forgot to move. I often told my child that the elf saw him do something and was giving him an extra day to do better. He would tell on himself and be a perfect angel all day.
I only watch 2 podcasts: Jason and Travis and You! Ain’t no time for being bored. You’re crushing it!
Not Gonna Lie, Kylie, I am really enjoying the podcast Happy Holiday!! 🎄
My kids asked why we don't have an Elf on the shelf. I told them all houses believe in a lot of different things during the holidays. Your dad's family is from Europe they don't have it there. That's how I got out of it and my kids can explain to other kids in a way that isn't exclusionary.
This is the best thing since Peanut Butter. I am never early for anything other than this and the New heights Pod Cast :)
Kylie I love your podcast I'm so glad that you had this new podcast I can't stop listening it's wicked good❤
Kylie, you’re amazing-so down-to-earth! I absolutely love your podcast❣
I never really cared for her music, but talk about a classy lady! You never see her showing her ass or badmouthing anyone. And her generosity is over the top!!
Love this podcast! So relatable. Elf, bedtime shenanigans, etc…. On board with all of that!! Definitely underachieving over here on the Elf.
Thursday’s have never been better! Love Charissa! So I’m looking for to her part. Have a great day!!❤
You are a breath of fresh air and such an awesome role model . . .
I identify as a “cat-crazy lady” - I’m crazy about cats, but not crazy in general.
Our elf has gone on to another home, but he was a very still elf, too!! He only ever brought a note when our daughter was in very real danger of being on the naughty list.
Great podcast. Thank you glad to know more about both of you.
Kylie Kelce is a national treasure.
Love that you have Winnie represented in your space 🥹💕
After our first dog passed by Senior year, Pops didn't want another dog. My mother however, had other ideas. He went on a business trip, she got a puppy, and when he came home, she had us meet him in the garage with a welcome home banner dog in hand. Garage door comes up, he sees the dog, garage door comes down. We don't seem him for two hours.
Man needed to go on a drive and center himself. We kept the dog.
I love this podcast. You are Real People. Today it was like I was listening To my 2 best friends Catch up. Thank you much
My daughter is 8 and fully invested in the magic of Christmas and it breaks my heart a little each time she tells me something someone at school said to try to bring her down about Santa, the elf, reindeer etc.
Love Carissa!! She and Erin have a great podcast " Just Calm Down " 😊
My first podcast i look forward to listening to each week.
Love, love, love it, and you! You are the real deal...Jason is one lucky dude. Well, so are you...I watch "Heights", too.
If you get a kitten, GET TWOOO!!! I beg!! They are great in pairs and I swear it’s arguably easier than just one because they will entertain each other 😂
Merry Christmas to you, Jason and the girls!!! ❤
This is the ONLY podcast I listen to. I'm obsessed!
I love the Rainbow question and story!!!
they've all been good but this one was special!!
