    Always use full extension drawer slides. You can see all the way to the back of the drawer. As contractor, l have seen drawers that only pullout less than half way.

    I have always wanted to to see a lazy Susan in your ceiling that goes up to the attic one for pots and pans one for appliances and one for Glases and plates and one for spices .motorized that with a push of button lowers your lazy Susan to unload dishwasher and to get pots and pans .You have all that attic space that could be framed up in roof with easy access to all the crazy things that get in the way

    If you are replacing an old sink consider this. Usually the pipe from the sink bottom connects to the drain with a vertical tail pipe (two for double sinks) If you do a bit of searching at your big box store you can find a pvc drain pipe with a right angle that will screw to the bottom of the sink drain similar to the standard tail pipe. Point the pipe toward the back wall and use a transition slip joint fitting to standard 1 1/2 inch (or 1 1/4 inch) PVC Next for dual sinks, connect the two drains together along the back wall. Then use a 90 (or 45) elbow as needed to change from horizontal to vertical. You then need a P trap (or S) trap to hold the water that prevents drain gas from flowing up and out your sink drain. Somewhere you also need a vent pipe that connects to the vent pipe in the wall. If that is not accessible most codes permit installation of a screw on air vent. Big box stores carry these for around six bucks. Keeney 1-1/2-in Plastic Mechanical Plumbing Air Admittance Vent $5.98 at Lowes) You should dry fit all the pieces together before you do your glue up to make sure you have what you want. I installed pull out drawers and made the whole frame unit removable (two screws in the frame to the cabinet floor). If I should need access to the plumbing it is easy.

    Lookup Elva system in the container store for an over the pantry door track system. The track clamps to the top and bottom of door and you can piecemeal the bins that hook on. Great for renters. Not the cheapest, but affordable. The rack will run about 25 to 30 dollars and each bin is about 15 dollars. Start small and add a bin or so each month.

    if you totally take the doors off of the cabinet then it is code to be able to put a plug in it. I tried four of the hacks. I put the pull-out drawers in the kitchen cabinets. a total of $42 and 2 hours for 6 shelves. the lazy Susan's worked for me in the corner because I put a triangle in the back corner on the two sides I stored my holiday platters fits perfect. the hanging rack under the counter I moved to the ceiling because everyone in the house is tall. use that space under the counter for my gumbo pots. inside the gumbo pots I store my flower, sugar and pasta containers. again on a pull out rack. the tea kettle stays on the stove in the toaster is on its own Shelf to the right of the stove. I sort of like a phone caddy sized Shelf. works great!

      Sturdy baskets with handles that I could pull out were very helpful to me while I was renting. I measured my lower cabinets and bought wicker ones with fabric lining for my pots that I could just slide out. For the pantry, I used plastic dollar store baskets to sort. One for pasta and rice, one for for spices, one for baking supplies. Different sizes depending on what I was storing, plus ones that stack for smaller items like sauce packets and tea bags.

    We have an extremely small kitchen one wall about 13 feet contains the sink, stove and the dishwasher. The left corner comes out and has a few drawers and cupboards underneath. Other than that, facing the sink, on the right there's a doorway to the bathroom behind you is a refrigerator in the corner and a stairway to the basement… As you keep turning clockwise, there is the way into the living room/dining room area and then you come back to the L-shaped cabinet that I just told you stuck out from the left. Unfortunately we had a fire… But, we were told that we may be able to push the sink wall back towards the garage and maybe push the bathroom wall/door in and use the walls… The reason I say that is there is another entrance to the bathroom from my guest bedroom. I WAS putting pots and pans in the bathroom and in a dry sink I had in the dining room. There's nowhere to put anything. I would love to hear your suggestions on how to make this space more usable and yet look nice. If you need me to draw something quickly let me know.
    They have just taken it all the way down to the studs and I need help quickly!
    Thanks!

    It should be pointed out that with a small exercise in geometry, it can be shown that a Lazy Susan in a corner base unit does not save any more space than if the corner was simply boxed out.

    Thanks for the ideas, but some of them won't work at all. Heat and dirt generated by the working appliances will quickly degrade and then destroy cupboards that they are stored in. Sponges and brushes stuck in the fold-out flap under the sink and not being able to air dry will cause mold, bad smells, and soap scum to quickly accumulate in that flap. I speak from the experience. Two-level lazy susans for corner cabinets cost from $50 and up in hardware stores, so it is definitely not a few dollars. It would be nice if you verified the facts before posting the video.

      Thanks so much for putting up this comment! I was thinking of custom making a cupboard for my appliances that would fit my tiny tiny kitchen. Thanks for the warning, I would never have thought of the grease and that would've been a lot of work to go through just to have a harder-to-use kitchen in the end.

    • @Autism_Forever
      @Autism_Forever 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. Maybe if you made them out of natural wood and put some ventilation holes in them?.. I personally had a really bad incident with an appliances cupboard, but mine was enclosed and made out of particleboard. At certain point moisture and heat made the whole structure to simply collapse on itself. I was standing next to it when it happened, so the boards, appliances, and other stuff all fell on me. I am really glad that my hubby was at home and was able to quickly pull me from under all of that or I'd end up in a hospital.

    • @ampz1466
      @ampz1466 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Anna Gray Wow, that's super scary. It is really lucky he was there. The ventilation might work for the heat but it won't stop the grease. Using a metal cupboard/shelving would probably prevent the cupboard from trying to kill me and would be easier to clean. (maybe using a grease resistant paint would help). I'd still have to lift out my stuff to clean around it all the time though. I'm trying to design the laziest kitchen I can have.

    I have a corner cabinet for a corner sink. It's worse to organize. I can't install a Lazy-Susan. Baskets don't work and figuring out how to use drawers that pull out and still optimize my space seems ominous. I'd remodel, however, it's not currently an option. I think rolling drawers would be my best solution, I'm just having trouble figuring out how to capture the most for my space.

    The electrical safety code will not allow receptacles to be installed within cupboards unless there is a mechanism installed to kill the power to the outlets whenever the door is closed. This is a fire hazard to have something cooking within, the door closed, and someone forgets about it.

    Well these are great ideas. I'll get right on these when I get a third job so I can afford the "small price" of professional installs.😒

    I'm glad to see pantry's making a comeback. No cabinet gives you the type of storage a pantry closet does. I remodeled my kitchen years ago and knocked out the pantry and replaced it with cabinets. Meh, the pantry was a better reach and the storage was better.

    All great ideas except the sponge drawer............. you don't really want sponges in a dark, non-air flowing environemnt because promoting rapid bacteria growth............. good vid though!

    Hi , we use Wet Grinders at India.It is very heavy which one can't lift everytime to work with it . As u mentioned if we keep it inside the cupboard we cannot work with it as it needs open space to open it n put the ingredients n again close . Wat would be the best solution as to where to place it in the kitchen?

    Hi ,the biggest pain ever I feel is that your standard fridge does not have pull out drawers.why the heck not.every time I want something it’s in there somewhere but can’t be seen until you pull everything out dropping a glass jar whilst doing so and cracking a floor tile to boot.they seem just inaccessible.kind regards tim

    Can you have an electrical outlet inside a cabinet?
    Electrical Outlet Inside an Appliance Cabinet - Easy ...
    Normally it is illegal to build an electrical outlet inside a cabinet - for example - in your kitchen. The reason is that if you were to plug in an appliance like a toaster and close the door, you could have a fire on your hands.

    Most of your solutions take up space . It would be easier and cheaper to have less stuff-which you would end doing with your ideas.

    not everyone has the time and money to do projects like this. they are great ideas but... also most rent apartments or houses and the owners don't want you rearranging their homes to suit your own needs.
