The well-appointed centre offers comfortable accommodation within Elphin Lodge retirement village which incorporates the village and the care centre seamlessly into a happy, active social environment.
Ron Smith Care Centre offers quality care for 160 people in either single or double rooms, with or without private bathrooms in a choice of wings.
The surroundings are pleasant and secure, enhanced by trees, well tended gardens and dams with a variety of bird life. Dotted around are benches, offering residents, their families and friends the opportunity to enjoy peaceful periods outdoors. There is a coffee shop called Elphino's with outdoor and indoor seating.
Rand Aid Association recently opened a specialised dementia unit at its Ron Smith Care Centre. The unit boasts 32 single rooms, most of which lead onto a spacious covered veranda. Families are encouraged to personalise each resident's room by bringing pictures, a favourite chair and other items that will make the resident's life comfortable and pleasant.
Apart from dementia-specific care, Ron Smith offers mid care, assisted living, full frail care, respite care when the regular carer needs a break and recuperative care after hospitalisation or illness.
All the above are offered on a long or short term/temporary basis and all rates include full board and lodging, laundry, occupational therapy services, 24-hour nursing care and a doctor on call.
