    I’ll never forget the time I was walking through a train station in Melbourne and i faintly heard the sound of a busker playing a song on his guitar. I actually couldn’t believe my ears as I immediately recognised the song was “for mom” from bucketheads colma album which is an absolute favourite of mine. I pushed through the crowds following the sound and when I found him I just stood there and listened and had a massive smile on my face as all the other commuters rushed past without even a glance. After he finished I just asked him “that’s for mom right” and he was so unbelievably happy that I had recognised it.

      Exactly, he doesn't do music for the recognition, he does it for the people who love his music and doesn't seem to care about fame given he has the pull to do larger venues but almost always does small venue shows to keep it personal.
      He's one weird feller but he definitely cares for his fans and just wants to play for them and that seems to be it.

      I saw pics of him before, but never listened to any of his music! I love metal, love Satriani and Vai, and many guitar virtuosos, like Van Halen or Slash, but never listened to Chinese Democracy... because of all the fake hype and because of Axl. I just saw a couple of videos of Buckethead and I am getting very intrigued. I think I found an amazing guitar player to listen to.

      I was 12 in 2002 when reality hit that my parents (who years prior abandoned me) ... They split when I was 2.. my dad raised me most of my childhood... my mom would come to Ohio and basically kidnap me.. Take me to a different state... Leaving me with strangers... She'd be beaten by her lovers in my presence, I could never express myself to her... She would be in a drunken rage and take her anger out on me with whatever item was closest to her. I was adopted in 2002 and was very self destructive. I had a roof over my head but I didn't have mental, stability. I didn't want pity, I wanted to be encouraged... The self-destructive was how I copied. It helped process these emotions.
      ODB died and I found a tribute to him... Some guy dressed like Leatherface and he had decapitated heads rappin' . His movements were like mine when I tried to get my point across, he's wearing a Steelers wind breaker. (Mom loves Steelers) he obviously likes to make people smile... I had to find out who he was..... I came across whitewash.... This man described my entire life with no words through acoustic emotion. I soon came to forgive myself of my terrible thoughts about myself.. I forgave my parents . I realized life is too short. I wanted to treat others with kindness, not how I was treated.. I wanted people to feel like I did when I listened to his music. I love you Buckethead

    While he's known for speed and technique, people tend to dismiss him as just a weird shredder. What they don't know, having never actually listened to more than a few song clips, is that he's a melodic genius as well. The dude can (and does) play pretty much anything, from blues-inspired licks to soulful, soaring solos to articulate acoustic sketches. If you like guitar, and can't find something from Buckethead to amaze you, you simply haven't looked hard enough.

    • @AkkayaOzgun
      @AkkayaOzgun 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I don't understand how people could say he's "just a shredder," even on his shred songs. I found out about him through Soothsayer and it is hands down one of the most mind-blowing songs I have ever heard. It's melodic, and the shred isn't just a throwdown on some scales. It's got emotion, the notes are intentionally placed, and it sings a story. If you think it's just a shred, begone.

    There are many good guitarists but Buckethead is special. He reaches me deeper, he's a sonic therapist. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, but his songs crawl right into the soul and pull out everything that was buried. Where there was stagnation, everything starts to move. He is like a ray of light. His music is pure, vibrant, powerful, nurturing, healing, honest, soulful and absolutely amazing. I love you Buckethead.

    Buckethead is in my opinion the most emotional guitarist of our time. I can't think of another. Waves ahead of Petrucci, Vai, or any of the others. Some of his stuff is just randomness, but when he wants to write a ballad, their is nobody than can coax emotion out of a guitar better.

      With spidercrawl fingers! He also recent years had heart problems I understand. And he had spine issues. Although he always wears his mask. I get the feeling I know him more than any other non mask-wearing guitarist/musician some of his songs are just heart warming and life changing. I followed a lot of the news just like the podcast which came online with him first talking. And he's just genuine creativity oozing guitar Wizard not more to say lol. I feel like he writes sometimes the music I would love to come up with and it feels like the story of my life. In some of his songs, it's like he's multiple personalities in one cause of his feeling his bends his all-round string feeling on the fretboard. I find him the most unique. And I want/dream he'd come to tour the Netherlands. I would go without hesitation. I would sell almost my last and only known kidney to date. He has so many beautiful emotional songs. He is like multiple guitarists into one with his feeling and I feel it's once in a lifetime someone with his talent gets to play. There are a handful of others though almost near Big B to me. It's unfortunate and a bummer that he doesn't tour outside the states.

    • @filipvis4655

      And even for his length I believe he is near 2m around 1.98 or 6'6. He has freakingly long hands and fingers. I wonder if these things he suffers from his spine and heart are because he has Marfan, or is just very thin and, one thing I know for sure must be living healthy diet. I'm pretty much overweight by a lot. He's just skinny and dexterity with nunchucks also amaze me. Nun chaka Kata. I love that one. He's really just a ninja with robot like precision.

    I first heard of Buckethead when I picked up the soundtrack for Last Action Hero back in '93, and I bought Bucketheadland shortly thereafter I think - I didn't see him til '98 or '99, and that was in Philly with Primus and Incubus. Big B kicked off the night with a blistering set, played to a backing track. I was maybe 2 rows deep, got to see the man up close, watched his spider fingers doing their frenetic, dissonant dance. Never gonna forget that one!!
