2012 Nissan Altima 2.5 S Review & Drive

  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2012 Nissan Altima 2.5 S is like Vanilla ice cream. It is smooth, easy to drive, and a bit boring. The Altima competes in a very tough crowd that includes the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. So is being Vanilla enough to take on the competition. Check out this first drive video review to find out.

    We have a 2013 Altima S and the CVT seems to have been reprogrammed to where it catches up quicker to the engine's rpm. It doesn't seem to rev any higher than a regular automatic setup; unless you floor it. Did a hundred mile r/t trip and it was so comfortable and relaxed. One thing you guys never mention are the interior colors (I hate a black interior) and how well the a/c works. No one ever mentions that. We're in south Louisiana where you need the a/c 24/7! I have to say it works very well.

    How is the suspension over rough bumpy pavement?
    Is the steering loose and "floaty" at highway speeds? I've heard that it is. So much so that you are constantly having to correct it in order to stay in your lane.

    I just traded my Altima for an older 2008 BMW 328i a year ago and it is like night and day. Everything is where it supposed to be. The car drives and handles perfect. And I dont feel bored driving it. The fit and finish is topnotch and I did not pay anything different from when I had the altima.This is a case of a car manufacture paying attention to specific details. Nothing against the Altima but you have to experience it for yourself to know what im talking about.

  • @DMaster27
    @DMaster27 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It depends on the vehicle you get. With German technology more extra electronic toys more testing issues to worry about. Otherwise my car don't got to worry about anything. Parts are cheap as well if I need them. Never go to the dealer no matter which make or model. Cheers

    I disagree with the cheap looking plastic comment regarding the interior.
    I have the black cloth interior and like the carbon fiber texture of the plastic around the center dash area also the plastic varies in texture all around the cars interior.
    Maybe it looks better in black....I think it does versus the beige interior.

    Well obviously the 2007-2011 altima was in the lead, because most of the time, car companies change a car or name of a car, when they feel/know that competitors are doing better, or are going to be improving their cars.

    I'm never "bored" driving my 2.5S "20th Anniversary" optioned dark slate grey with black cloth interior Altima.
    I look forward to driving it for my sales position here in So Cal every day, it's a VERY nice NEW car for around 20 grand. You can't touch a NEW 328i for anywhere near 20 grand. Bad comparison not apples to apples.
    Everything is where it's suppossed to be? WTF does that mean? That' a subjective statement as drivers like different things.

  • @luke.jaguar
    @luke.jaguar 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well obviously they were in the lead, because most of the time, car companies don't change a car unless their competitors improve a specific model to be better. So yeah there wasnt good competition for about 3 years..

  • @rowsdower12
    @rowsdower12 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nissan's aren't very known for their interiors. Look at the new Versa, I know its a bargain basement car but sheesh! its like they took it out of 95. The Altima doesn't have the stigma of bland and boring as the Camry, that's the one that really has the stigma. I have no doubt this car is boring to some extent, it is a family car. But I digress. I hope the next Mazda6 can rectify its first gen one and be sporty again and I have no doubt it will. I love how Nathan is wearing a Daewoo shirt.

    @94navin 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    actually this one does have most of altima features automatic climit control 16 in ally leather my friend has one of these same car and color. but they not lying it is a nice car and the interior is really nice but compared to the competitor its fallen behind but the new and improved altima is out wait till they see that one its amazing i would buy it but i like the new 2014 mazda6.

  • @455Transam
    @455Transam 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You're not making a fair comparison.
    Different classes of cars.
    The 2.5 Altima is a "family sedan" that can be sporty (with the 3.5)not a luxury/sport sedan.
    Of course the BMW would be a better vehicle, you pay thousands more for it, as is you have a 4 or 5 year old car and it costs as much as a NEW Altima.

  • @rowsdower12
    @rowsdower12 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jaymum23 I guess that's objective. I think a lot of carmakers are using excessive plastic or at least cheapy plastic. I agree Toyota and Honda are guilty of this. Nissan isn't far behind. I think the new Camry has too much plastic, it looks nice but when I touched it it was hard plastic. Yuck! Korean's might not be there yet but they will give the others a run for the money.

    It seems that the bald guy hates anything to do with Nissan. I have that exact same car, same interior/exterior color, except we have a tail or spoiler on the back. Plus that is the model that doesn't have any optional features. If you look at any other leading competitors look-a-likes, their cars with out any optional features, are plain and boring also. Plus that the Altima comes in many great colors in different shades, and the inside color can be changed to ...SO WHAT NOW?
