- "I, The Creator" is one of my favorite songs off of 'The Amanuensis'.
Shout out to Mike Malyan for writing killer parts. It was a privilege filling in for him. Monuments has already been out touring with Mike since I filled in, and if you didn't already know, he's fully recovered and back at the kit.

The snare is a 14x6.5 David Silveria which belongs to my good friend Alex Markidies. This is without a doubt one of my favorite snare sounds I've achieved in my home studio.
Huge thanks to Adam 'Nolly' Getgood for the mix. Never ceases to amaze me how much he can bring out the sounds I capture here. Incredibly talented guy... not that you all don't already know that! Drums are all natural, kick too! Used a Beta91 inside & an AKG D112 out (though, I think most of the sound is the 91).
This video was done in one take. I used 5 different cameras running simultaneously. For anyone interested they are as followed...

Everyone and their mother programs their drums to be hitting like Alex is.
It's like winning lottery for the sound engineer, so much more pleasant to mix heavy hitting drummer.
He doesn't use triggers my dude, you gotta hit it that hard to make it sound like that.

It is truly amazing to see how much your playing has changed (improved that is) over the past 2 years! Where at first it was really technical and a joy to watch, you now make much larger swinging motions and are much more energetic in your playing, whilst keeping the technical aspects killer-level as always. Great work as always, Alex! It was an honor getting to meet you, talk drums & shit, and hang after the show in New Orleans with Animals As Leaders. Your dediccation to the parts and your sheer energy are peerless. The Tamas also sound incredible. In fact, both kits you used (the B/B's here & the Silverstar Customs live) sounded excellent. Regarding the hair, who cares! Regarding the drummer faces, who cares! Regarding The Faceless, I was never really a fan of them, but I enjoyed your work with them, and I'm glad you moved forward from them. Keep up the good work, and whoever you're playing with, come back to NOLA!
Just discovered this one while preparing for our first big live show that took place this past Saturday. There is some sick live footage of Alex playing this on tour and it got me fired up!!!
Both the snare and bass drum sound SO punchy and good. Great playing as well of course. Looks like you are putting your heart and soul into it also, which is great to see.

First off, awesome video! I always enjoy watching your covers and play-throughs because both the quality of playing and production quality are amazing. Second off, I have a question about your bubinga/birch kit. I noticed that have black nickel hardware on all of your drums (which doesn't come standard on the bubinga/birch kits, at least not on the website), and I was wondering how you went about acquiring a kit with this hardware finish? It really is a beautiful kit, and I'm thinking about purchasing one for myself in the near future!
