    This is a good subject Dixon. A lot deeper than many people realize. I find myself really struggling with some memories of my grandmother (my mom's mom), who is now nearing 90 and was placed in a nursing home just a couple of weeks ago. I have one memory in particular that I find so disturbing and I am so ashamed of that I've never been able to bring myself to talk about it. I came to realize a long time ago that my grandma was never going to change. I think for the most part she learned that racist comments were not acceptable around certain people - but I know she never changed her heart. She doesn't even know where she is these days, so all that's left to do is prayer for her. My dad was a great man and he didn't tolerate any kind of racism, looking down on people who were less fortunate than us or making fun of anyone, nothing like that. I remember as a kid my dad not letting my grandma see us for a long time, although I didn't understand why at that time. I am thankful for his influence in my life, especially when I wonder how my brothers and I might have been otherwise influenced by some of the people in my family. Anyways, there are more than a few people in my family that I love, but do not like.

      Thank God for your father was like my mother! And because of what my mother taught me I, have had a marvelous life with great people in my life. And my grandchildren are biracial I have 14 from 6 different ethnic and cultural differences it’s great I don’t speak all the languages they do but whenever I need a translation even my 5 year old granddaughter does it with such ease and I have been invited around the world into homes of intelligent like minded folk, experienced things I could never have imagined seen the beauty of this earth as many have not I feel honored to have been blessed with an open mind and a loving heart for those whom are fellow human beings ❤️

    *From one white guy to another, excellent video, man👍. In my experience, I’ve come to see prejudice as basically the same thing as a real hardcore drug addiction. Instead of abusing chemicals, these people are abusing an ideology. And the only way these people are gonna change is for them to hit absolute rock bottom and realize all of the destructiveness it’s caused them and those around them. Therefore, nobody BUT THEM can make that decision for them, but I’ve noticed that completely cutting yourself off from them, certainly has a way to invoke pain into them. And pain can often times be the best teacher.*

    • @archersunshine8890
      @archersunshine8890 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Thanks for your commentary. I feel your words. And to see you describe racism as a “real hardcore drug addition” is very profound. This really helps to put things into perspective in understanding how challenging it will be to overcome something that is so ingrained.

    • @chrisulmer694
      @chrisulmer694 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tory Hamilton *Thanks buddy, and to elaborate further, that is LITERALLY true. There have been well documented studies on people’s brains who are prejudice and they’ve found the exact same brain patterns for them that are found with hardcore drug addicts.*
      *I’ve been on the inside with a white, conservative evangelical church I was a part of a long time ago where there was a lot of prejudice towards other demographics of people. I’ve also spent a lot of time befriending homeless hardcore drug and alcohol addicts on the street. You see certain types of the same behavior being prominently exhibited among both demographics of people.*

    i remember when i worked in germany. i was viewed with suspicion at an institution where i worked when i first arrived. I was an aeronautics engineer and when they later realised i was clever after some months of working there they started saying I am a white person in a black skin. As time went on and i became fluent in german they said i am black and african only in theory and by skin colour but white in all other aspects. I felt hurt each time they said it thinking back home about my fellow brothers and sisters in africa.

    • @globalcetzen5271
      @globalcetzen5271 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silent Lessons, I could feel your deep hurt as I read your comment. Why didn't you stop them from describing a highly accomplished professional such as yourself that way? You should have stopped them by standing up to them the very first time, and educating them about who you really are as a Black person and who they really are as White people? You should have taught them about the origins of Black people as well as White people, instead of keeping quiet and hurting inside. The moment you educate the White Supremacist about the origins of the White man, the arrogance and feelings of supremacy dissipates. I am African too but I was raised by a Freedom Fighter who was at Nkrumah's side to the very end, and I've never been timid around White people.

    I'm sorry to hear about your personal experience, Dixon. But at least you and your girlfriend moved on. As an African-American young man, I'm in an interracial relationship with an Asian/white girl, and it's been three years till this day, and our relationship is still going strong. We have ups and downs, but we never gave up and still don't give up on each other. And our own families are happy for our relationship. I know it doesn't apply to all people, but I wish it did. My girlfriend and I always attract jealousy almost everywhere we go, but we don't care. As long as we're happy. Good day to you, Dixon.

    In high school I met a beautiful black girl and started talking to her. Eventually we wanted to start dating. When I told my parents they weren't going to allow it (they're not outwardly racist people, I've seen my mom and dad cry over the deaths of black friends, but they do hold some very antiquated views), and her mom wouldn't allow her to date me either because I was white. We both had our hearts broken to say the least. To think that in the year 2000, this was how both our families felt about an interracial relationship. It's now 2020 and apparently nothing's changed. Keep fighting Dixon, we are and together we will end intolerance and racism. Love your vids ❤

    Romans 13:8-10 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

    My family is racist. And I think my family is the main reason my relationship was ended, I have four biracial children, and they mean so much to me. My family members are old and set in their ways. I'm not racist I never have been. I've Had My Moments though, I don't like racism I don't like any person that demonstrates or practices evil hateful racism or racist statements. It hurts me deeply, my children are my life. And it's really hard to explain to a child. Why certain people act the way they do. I don't like to be around anyone that's racist especially not family but I understand a lot of people old and set in their ways. Close minded. Racism is really annoying, and it's mentally and emotionally draining. Just my thoughts.

      they want you to think of yourself as biracial instead of black because that would mean that there are more black and brown people in the world then it is of them so they give names like biracial half-black half-white mix names like that the truth is you are with your father seed is if your father is a black man you are a black individual regardless of who the mother is why because black blood dominates all others is not a Prejudice statement it is a factual statement the white supremacist change the fact that years ago when a black man fathered a white woman child they call that child a Niger now that it is happening more and more since the 50s they're coming up with more names to disassociate with a biracial child being black so as not to overpopulate the white race. if your father is a black man you are a black descendant no matter what race the mother is and if the mother is black and the father is white then it depends on how much DNA the black mother carries.

    There are alot of w people who have that one black friend or Co worker or that blk person that are kind of friendly with who are still racist n hide it from that one blk person they talk to. I seen plenty of racist be friendly to certain blk people. ( smh) I'm like only If that blk person knew how racist that person is. Cause that same racist stared at me, followed me, remotely locked their doors, assuming I'm a criminal etc. When I see blk people being friendly with those racist im like do they know or is that blk person a racoon. I had a white friend who I was friends with for 15 + years I had no idea he was a racist until years later. The signs was there I just didn't pay them any mind. ( I was super young at the time) I couldn't talk about racism with him. he would deflect ,change the subject. Saying it's all in my head, you need help etc. I even warned him to stop cause he is wrong and if he doesn't stop the friendship is over. We was actually good friends and i hated to lose his friendship . He Even say bad things about blk people to me as if I'm not blk . ( my guess he probably thought I was a racoon) I'm like dude u know u talking to a blk person right! I ended our friendship I could not have someone in my life who had those views.
