  • Redi Wall and Tile Redi pans eliminate the vulnerable failure points of other shower pan systems like Schluter Kerdi, Wedi, Hydroblock and Redgard. In those systems, the pan and wall connection is at or below the waterline of the shower and are often just connected in the field with sealant or thinset. Also, the drain is a separate piece and has to be secured to the pan with thinset or sealant. Installer error is common with these systems leading to catastrophic water and structural damage.
Tile Redi pans are one piece, pre-sloped, and have the drain integrated into the pan through the injection molding process. The integrated splash walls and curb make it so there are no connection points in the field at the vulnerable waterline.

It looks like Tile Redi offers a flashing product that can be used at the wall to pan transition. I can't say if it would be any better than just using the glue alone as shown in the video. Has anyone tried the flashing?

A long time ago when I first started tiling I used tile redi and I don't recall any wallboards with it. The system is great because of the integrated curb and everything However at that time I found it a little challenging especially when everything was not quite plum square and true. there is no modifying it. This video makes me want to go back and use it because of the level of Certainty. Thanks for your inspiration!

Awesome. I have a 54x40 on order along with the Redi Wall board and a niche. Can’t wait to try it out. Question: any reason you chose not to use their flashing? Also, how many tubes of the Redi Caulk did you use for installing what appears to be about six boards? I’ve ordered extra because it seems like you’d use more than the three tubes that are included - especially since I’ll be doing a niche as well.

HELP! I’m a DIYer. We’re am in a mobile home in NC.
I tore out our master bath shower system.
The DRAIN pipe currently is 1½ in ABS and intend to use a reducer bushing to enlarge to a 2 inch ABS for the FlowFX drain I ordered through your channel.
I intend to do a Dry Pack bed. I’ve learned through your videos about using plastic and metal lathe on the plywood floor and your method of screeding the dry pack.
I purchased a PVC liner PRIOR to seeing you videos.
I have NOT seen one (or missed it) on HOW HIGH the FLOWFX drain should be OFF THE FLOOR. My question is as follows.
What is SEQUENCE or ORDER I need to do.
    Here’s my thoughts…
    1. Plastic on the floor
    2. Metal Lathe next
    3. Determine FlowFX Drain height from floor (1 to 1 ½ inch)
    4. Dry Pack put in place
    5. DO I NEED this PVC LINER and IF YES, where do I put it? On TOP of the Dry Pack or must I use a liquid waterproofing or some other effective yet less costly waterproofing method. I am AFRAID to NOT get the waterproofing RIGHT.
Retired with limited funds BUT, I must get this RIGHT!
PLEASE CORRECT ANY OF MY MISUNDERSTANDING!
Thanks in Advance if you have the time to answer me.

TY

I like the changes. Might have to switch to this over Durock if it becomes available in my area. Pre sized drain pan might be a problem though because framers in my area are horrible these days. Seems like they don't know what square is or how to use a measuring tape for exact measurements. Their close enough is pretty bad and many showers are non-standardized in dimensions.

You the man Issac, love you too, but your screws on that first lap joint should not have been inside it. It didn’t look right to me and this was confirmed in their video. It seems like the flashing at the pan is an extra measure worth doing, but time will tell on all these systems. Looks like the overall cost is comparable to a Wedi kit, but the pan is bulletproof and wins over other systems hands down. I like the lap idea, but showers have little water issues that high, and Go Board is probably an easier and available wall solution, and again it is the bottom pan that is most important. We had considered using a Kohler Salient cast iron enameled shower pan to get this same bulletproof bottom, but after seeing some photos with the non slip strips looking as bad as the tub we want to get rid of, it will be the redi pan system. We hope the grout on the bottom does not look as bad as some we have seen.

Fixing framing imperfections, leveling subfloor, installing the pan, cutting a hole for the niche, installing a niche, hanging the wallboard and applying sealant…. Nobody is going to do all that work in 2 hours. You won’t really save that much time using this system, maybe half a day at most. The labor cost will be the same…Tile contractors aren’t going to lower their prices to accommodate expensive materials. That’s like giving money away.

    • @RawTakes

Every contractor in the country is buying material that is way too expensive, buy large containers in bulk. Put up $30k in all your mainstream units, stock them, become competitive, work with people that can invest with you, stop doing stuff solo lol. I have 300, 100% waterpoof shower kits in my storage that I spent $80 per kit for roughly. Think big, quit using local distribution and make your own distribution company so you keep the money in your circle, buy from your own distribution company through a separate LLC you own, tell your tile buddies to buy through your distribution LLC. Quit over paying! Lol😂
