      You would have to be under 5'11" and have the footspeed of an NFL Corner to stay in front of Iverson in his prime. Payton was a great defender and he couldn't do it.

    imagine this guy in todays pace and space game. the lack of double teams and the lack of bodies clogging the lane. he'd easily be a top 3 player today without a doubt. that inefficient 42% would easily be 45-46% and he'd average close to 10 dimes

    • @gangstagummybear3432
      @gangstagummybear3432 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      people act like he was just missing open shots but it was always fouls or crazy hard defense also iversons shot selection was mostly attacking the middle which is crazy since the insane shots he scored inside his percentage wouldve been way higher if his shot selection came from trying to go for open shots.

    • @esaumalakai7485
      @esaumalakai7485 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When Iverson actually had some help like on his Denver Nuggets team, he still averaged 27 on 46% shooting. I can imagine in todays soft era, and with an actual team, AI would be extremely efficient from the field, averaging close to 50%. He is really underrated, and gets a pass for his 42% FG% not just because he was smaller, but for years he played by himself. No teammates worthy to even form a dynamic duo with him and help the team compete for a title and win the championship. I mean, look at the year Iverson led his team to the finals in ‘01. His second best player was averaging 12 ppg…So defenses would just focus on AI to contain him, so it was harder in him by himself to get shots off. That 76ers team was so scrappy and defensive minded, so he was able to make it to the finals that year. Give AI a teammate in his prime that could have helped drop 20 ppg for that same team, and they probably could have won the championship during those years.

      I was talking about 1 on 1 both primes.
      Now if team concept is what we're talking about, then Peyton is definitely a more well rounded player, no question.

    • @Armando316
      @Armando316 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@denniseudela411 Well yeah if it’s one on one, I guess I’d lean towards Iverson but ya never know because it is speculation. Now I have heard that Iverson and Payton used to play one on one vs each other when Iverson would go to Payton’s house so I’d like to see who got the better of who there. But yes, with regards to building a team around, I’d definitely take Payton. Iverson was better as a 2 guard, than at point.
