I still remember the debut of Shoaib Akhtar. At that time, I was in class 5 and on medical leave from my School. He took 2 wickets while bowling in the 1st Innings
I was in 6th Class 😊 i used to read article on Sports star magazine about cricket. I vividly remember one article where he was named as “Hurling Thunderbolt” ☺️
Childhood hero he was. I remember I used to practice bowling for hours after coming back from school and copy his style..that way ended up becoming the fastest bowler of my colony. Good old days
One of the all time greats as far as Fast bowling.....genuine...terrifying ....devastating yorkers (Rahul/Sachin) and what style.....Genuine respect from old 'enemy'.....India......
As a Fast bowler and cricket lover, I feel very sad for Shoaib. He had one of the best, clean actions when he burst on the international scene- Side chested , maximum use of crease, good jump and follow through. Regardless of the fact that he had hyperextension, his Arm was very straight. Later, some people put unsubstantiated chucking allegations on him. He was forced to change his action, and later he started bowling with a bent arm. With the original action, he would have surely ended with more success and wickets. World cricket really lost a bowling genius... A genius destroyed at a budding stage...
Fearsome bowler that time, waiting for his spell to complete and mostly Indian batsman frightened of his terrific strength and even master blaster faint of his speed, from Kerala India
Did you watch 2003 world cup ind vs pak match? certainly not...If you had watched the match you wouldn't say that about Sachin. I request you to watch that match.
@Hamza Mughal Sachin's batting average was close to 44 in 9 tests and 19 odis involving Akhtar. in 37 innings a batsman on an average gets out 7.4 times by a bowler considering 5 main bowlers. And Sachin got out 8 times by shoiab.
Initially he modeled his action on Waqar and he was very lean however he picked up injury very earlier and due to his body mechanics he had to bulk up and tweak his action still was a very good bowler
@@MohammedShafiq-id5ov Hey no question about his capabilities he was the best and will always remain the best. I just hated him once when he bowled Sachin Tendulkar on the first ball uprooting the middle stump.
Brothers don't care who agrees or not, but i will say - I have not seen West Indies fearsome bowlers bowl... but i have seen Shoaib Akhtar. There might be McGrath, Wasim, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh.... but when it comes to Fast Bowling... Shoaib Akhtar is sheer pleasure to watch and his aggression is matched by no one else. Period. He is Superstar of Cricket. I am Indian... but i have no reservations in saying if God asked me just one wish to be fulfilled... it would be to see Shoaib Akhtar bowl in his prime live in a stadium. GOAT.
The best part of The Shoaib is not only is a great pacer but an honest advisor as well and which doesn't restrict wrt any country. He advised Mohd. Shami regarding his bowling technique and whence applied, Shami got results in pace. I am 80's born 6ft height and copied Shoaib's action with small runup as i had wrist power and ended taking wickets with massive swings. Love you as a player and as an human being. ❤🙏
He changed his action many times in 2002 he was at peak beauty of his action , fitness and speed. As usual unlike Australians and english players he couldn't maintain his fitness.
akram, waquar and akthar the most fearsome fast bowlers ever.. whenever i see them playing against Lanka i was soo scared and counting balls cos we dunno when our batsmen getting out... luv that pace attack..
He was introduced as a medium fast bowler. Atleast the tv screen intro showed that. Also surprised how much of his action resembled Waqar younas.. obviously later on he changed it

It’s interesting to see how bowlers imitate their seniors bowling action through their cricketing journey but later do modifications and have an action of heir own. I grew up watching all these legends and myself have different bowling actions and very effective as to what those bowlers were trying to do. Early days of Shoaib suggest he was trying to do bit of “waqar younis” with his bowling and swinging the ball beautifully
Worlds fastest bowler since 1997 to 2023 no bowler have managed to beat his record I wonder who could beat his record I feel someone from Australia or England maybe
Brett Lee, Shane Bond & Shoaib Akhtar, all were express fast bowlers but without any doubt Shoaib was the most exciting one. I use to see matches where India was not playing just to see Shoaib. Still remember Pakistan won a 3 match ODI series in Oz just for Shoaib's bowling in the early 2000s.
Pakistan always had great fast bowlers.. . M Jealous one of that era especially 90's, but hats off to Wasim Akram, Vaqaar Younis n then Shoib Akhtar no match..,....
