    I think it was the Dave Stevens doc on Amazon, plus publicity from many sites, plus the good girl appeal of his art; it was a perfect storm. And now all the "floor" prices are permanently up on his cover work. Also, these books weren't flooding the market with high print runs, and many are decades old from non-exist publishers. Like I said, a perfect combo of things.

    Wow, I always look forward to your videos Dave anyway, I liked one of these comments. Of course he is no Frank Frazetta, Frank Frazetta is one of a kind.. anyway he is considered a painter, and he left all of his paintings to both of his daughters, and both of his sons. I personally know Bill frazetta and he is the holder of all three of the Conan paintings.. I know for a fact Sylvester Stallone wanted to buy at least one of his paintings when he was over frazetta’s house, but he would not sell him anything. On the other hand, Clint Eastwood was able to buy the frazetta painting of his movie the gauntlet.. I guess you could say all four of his kids he would say they are almost millionaires. Of course they have the estate the frazetta museum.

    Can you imagine how crazy hot that Dazzler comic would be if Dave Stevens had drawn the cover?

    Dave I live in London England, and went to a my lcs here and asked for Dave Stevens, and they said alot of people are asking for him! (And they didn't know why) So if it is you it's streched all the way to Britain.

    There was a 3-D Zone #16 9.8 sale for $4070 in Dec. It was the "variant" cover that does not have the Canadian price

    The rise on Planet Comics #1 is crazy. I was trying to get one a few years ago for $100, and they were selling around that raw in NM- or so. I was wondering why his covers seem to be going up. That Jonny Quest cover is also higher than ever, and DNAgents as well

    Planet Comics 1 is most expensive DS cover because the homage by Adam Hughes in that Dirty Pair variant. So lots people have always like that one.

    Any TH-cam channel can influence book purchases. Each of you are influencers whether you want to be one or not. It may not be a huge influence, but it still can make a difference on what a person decides they want to purchase. Without these TH-cam channels, most people will not know what books are hot in, which are cold.

    I wonder if this artist driven uptick is a trend or if the prices will hold? Seems like everything is so heavily weighted towards first appearances these days. I hope so, though, as I have multiples of that Starslayer 2 which was worth zip for decades.

    I think some artists get lazy like you said. Jim Aparos art was simple, repetitive and lacking in backgrounds towards the end of his career. I was surprised that his early work in the bronze age looked like Neal Adams stuff.

    I think artists have about 10-15 peak years, then they burn out. Even Kirby went downhill bigtime from the early '70s onwards.

    Gil Kane and Joe Kubert's art may have deteriorated or they lost their enthusiasm but that was when they were fairly old men.Neal Adams' art started to decline in his early thirties.I don't think he lost his talent I just think he was more into the business side of things.

    Yeah i could'nt agree more about Gil Kane another one i've notice is JRJR, i prefer is old stuff but sometimes they have an embellisher and i remember Jim Mooney would help JRJR finish is art in the early 80's

    Am I correct in reading that it is 5% or $500 max seller’s fee? So if a book auctions for $20k, the seller’s fee is only $500 as opposed to $1000? Out of curiosity, what is the most expensive book you have auctioned? Thanks!

    • @ComicBookInvestments
      @ComicBookInvestments  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes that is correct. If it sells for a million it will be only $500 as well. Most expensive was around 35k I believe.

    Dave Steven's is awesome but no frank frazetta

  • @RobertMatteis-pe7vh
    @RobertMatteis-pe7vh 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Oh sorry Dave my comment should have been frazetta’s kids must be worth $500 million each or more as of right now, obviously they are set for life. On the other hand, if people bought the keys Comics, about 15 or 20 years ago, people would be rich they would never have to work again.. I have not worked in many years I was a bartender I don’t have any money. I still have some good Comic Books.

    Do yall agree that X-force #2 is the most undervalued book out there its 2ND appearance of Deadpool 🤔🤔 like its so cheap

    • @ComicBookInvestments
      @ComicBookInvestments  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes. The only downside is it was made when they were printing a ton. So lots of supply

    • @Future-Classic-Comics
      @Future-Classic-Comics 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ComicBookInvestmentsFairly rare in a 9.8 N/S though, spidey 299 and marvel superheroes #18 are the biggest undervalued books imo.
      Technically Deadpool #1 should be worth more than X-Force 2.
