Good going, no excitement like your first chinook! Another tip is that you actually can turn off your trolling motor while fighting the fish. Especially with an 5.8/1 retrieve rate and no flasher. It's not helping you when you leave the motor unmanned and are turning in circles. When you turn towards the fish it is causing more problems than helping.

Quick trick when landing/Fishing by urself on a boat. Put the Rod back in the Holder and Hand line the fish the rest of the way using the leader/Line, this will keep him from coming off and will help you feel the fish and makes it easier to land !!! Great Videos !!
hey by the way, when netting by yourself it is super easy to get them in close here's a great tip if fishing off the right side of the boat. kick your motor to the left slightly this will make you do circles to the left keeping your fish to the right rear the back of the boat allowing your plan (sitting on the cooler netting right handed to go off flawlessly) also let them tire out a little more. I know its super exciting but if you have a good hook set the time is on your side. keep them at about 10-15 feet circle left with them on the right and wait till they are done fighting. plan out your fights to last 10-15 minutes, relish the battle. cant wait to see some more. (:

Nice catch, it takes some practice and timing to net or gaff your own fish.Couple suggestions. Get a spare gas tank, that's twice now I have seen you questioning if you have enough fuel. I'm assuming your using a plastic tank with a quick disconnect, get a second one even if you need to get a smaller one and it will also come in handy balancing your boat in a swell.Also, there is multicolored braid that is a different color every 10 feet, I'm sure your tackle store buddy can order you some. Some day when you have some time you might want to drag that diving plane over a sandy bottom with no hooks and find out exactly how much scope you need for a given depth. I have a feeling it's a lot more than your guessing. You can log the depths at different speeds and have a better idea because if your bait isn't in the zone your wasting your time.Keep it up bro, I really enjoy watching your vids.Dave

Decided to try fishing on a small kayak. Caught 2 small little fish and threw back. I had the same feeling like you, catching fish for the first time!

Up here in Alaska we kill the motor if we’re hooked into a king. You don’t want that extra tension on the line with a king. On the other hand, if we hook into a silver we’ll keep the troll moving. Interesting to see how ya’ll do it in Cali! Great vid 👍🏽
Matt, congrats on the salmon. I wanted to tell you I just bought two waterproof drones! One cheap one for like 59.00 and one more expensive one specially equipped fishing drone with a 4K camera. One drone is for crashing, (trainer) and one for cash (maybe I can use the 4k drone for weddings and real estate jobs). The fishing drone has a hook release feature and was about 119.00.
