      Thanks for your sharing in this video! There is one skill - critical thinking - that I have found difficult for me to keep balance with capacity of empathy. Too much critical thinking might lead to judgment and criticism. I have found many experts and researchers have similar problems. Can you share your experience about this? what/when should we think critically? what or when shouldn't we? Thanks! :)

      How to silence your inner critic?

    • @1urie1
      @1urie1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@dawoodakhtar9108 Be realistic. Weigh the chances of a negative event happening. Yes... It's possible your colleague will take credit for your project. But how likely is that? Prepare for what you can and reduce those chances. Befriend your colleague. Determine what would make them betray you. Prevent it happening. And keep focusing on the positive outcomes. As time goes by, you'll realize you've prepared for everything your current skill allows you. If you still then fail, then you couldn't have done any better at the current time and place. And that is fine. Learn and grow. Carry on. You can only be truly defeated if you stop trying.

      I never adapt to my abusive family.broke a leg,get some bottle to the head,loose a bunch self-respect,ruined future.Yet im not a school shooter yet.HOOORAY !!!
      Grit was my thing.A signature of me if you know me.IT build me!All i have ever accomplish is throug hardship and never give up,always find a way even when thing didn't go your way.The power of never give up is truly remarkable.
      As a religious person,my adaptability is very poor. That's why i keep getting punch and kick from my family without even moving.Because it had possess me,in my bone in my blood vein.I was like a computer,a program design not to hurt their privilege, their emotion or their body. But all the curse, the gaslight, the lie,it show me their hypocrite. No longer i was blindly love and respect my family, and that's when i stop my Murphy's Law.
      Their word soon find a way into my head.Never have i let anyone opinion bother me if my action is justified. But my family.I learn to hate myself, telling myself that i was nothing, and deserve nothing. That all I do mean nothing, they are small and they are useless. They told, even still now that they own me,treating me like some kind of poperty.
      You never see "Democracy" in my family.just purely slavery.Every inch i lie, every bite i take, every sip of water i drink, every day that i'm living, i get a remind that it was their money, their work, the sweat they make.Everyday, and im not a bad son.Even in Asia my condition is bad,but people having stigma if i said so.so i wanna say "no" my family isn't that happy,no it doesn't,stop telling me so.You can see what outside but you can't see what inside.
      Now am i a good son?No.Am I a bad son?No.
      + A good son is someone who listen to all their parent word and don't talk back,do all the housework, make their parent proud in school, never let their parent worry about anything, seem mature and all that stuff
      +A bad son is someone who casually trash talk other people, always piss off, drinking, use drug, racing, talk back to their parents, hang out with the bad kid you name it
      But to them,it may be different.each person see throug a different lens, and think differently, behave differently.True is,they never care. They don't care when i got an A,don't care when i got nominate. So i keep trying, days i get tired,i still try.Days i get sick,i still try.It come to a point that i was physically and mentally so fucked up and don't think i got the will to do it anymore.I thought they would have change, but no no no no.
      : ^ )
      I loose my my respect for this.My friend for this.My influence for this,my reputation for this.
      I loose time to care for myself.I loose my handsome outlook.I loose my healthy body.Loose my singing voice just to scream all my anger and get back to study
      I loose my dream,my purpose,my initial goal.I lost myself.
      Who am i?
      Is this all what i am?
      I keep living like that for so long, until i could finally met somebody who took pity of my life. And all suddenly there is something inside.Something so hard to tell.Despite being so "nerdy" i can't pin it down.
      Is this love?
      I keep watching her.My mind stun for a momment. That sily eye couldn't keep away what i was feeling inside."For so long there been a woman who care for me no matter it all" I talk to myself."All people leave me when you are here cuddle with me,joking around, making yourself sily so i could smile?"I thought that women care so much for me that she wouldn't mind me now.She know me before and even now,her attitude is still the same. The same manner, the same word, same action.None have treat me this way.I fell for her completely...

    " Don't give up on life long learning, ever " absolutely true :) if you have graduated school / University and think you're done with learning, you're preparing yourself for a bad outcome. Read everyday, or listen to audio books, or lectures, or languages. Learning a language is really powerful, it changes you profoundly. There is so many things to learn in the world, I'm genuinely surprised by the people who waste their lives and stop learning. Isn't it boring? To never learn anything new?

    Success to me isn't just reaching a peak and saying "I made it."
    It's reaching a peak and saying, "man I have come a long way, but my favorite peak to reach will be the next one." A lifelong journey is exactly what it says it is: lifelong. To reach a fay in your life when you knew you ended up being your best self and that you are leaving nothing behind. That is what makes learning these skills worthwhile.

    1. Teach your kids personal finance in elementary school. Compound interest will be their greatest asset. Better yet, instill them a mentality that their investments are for their families, not their retirement.
    2. Fear works better than grit. :D
    3. Meet new people. Play around with technology. Try new things. Get out of your comfort zone.
    4. Perfect is the opposite of done. If you’re criticizing yourself, you’re taking time and mental effort out of your productive and leisure time. Let others criticize you instead of doing it yourself. You will find that many of they won’t even care.
    5. Remember your inner child. Any toddler will tell you how important “NO” is. :D
    6. Creative thinking is valuable to your most important employer - yourself. Avoid comfort and thinking something can’t be done.
    7. Guess it’s time to find a video explaining what this “emotional intelligence” is. Maybe with the rapidly advancing technology mentioned in Adaptability, someone will cross a human being with a golden retriever. :D

    • @gnarthdarkanen7464
      @gnarthdarkanen7464 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very easily argued that there is NO big assumption here.
      If you don't know what you want (most) to do, then research, experimentation, and observation of results combine with critical thinking to figure it out... Consider it cyclical, and the first pick of things to research for the first experiment completely random.
      Once researched, studied, and experimented with, the notions of whether or not you like or want to do it will come... OR you can always make a list of "Pro's and Con's" to consider before either doubling down on that first thing, some part or derivative of it, or finding something else to research and study... and the cycle can continue.
      Good reasons are a bit more ambiguous, but should you be able to sustain the activity and still manage a life in which you find happiness, relatively... then you're likely on approximately the "right" path. ;o)

    You don't need any of this if you're born into money. You can go to Harvard if Daddy went to Harvard (so true it actually has a name) without worrying about grades. All these aphorisms do is try to maintain the fallacy that hard work and intelligence are all one needs for success when it's pretty damn clear, especially in this day and age, that nothing could be further from the truth.
