My teen son and I just did this for an elderly neighbor of mine, and as hard as the work was it felt so good. Her gardens are just overgrown because she can’t do the work like she used to. Her kids live across the country so she really doesn’t have any help. I was paid with fresh lemonade, good conversation, and endless wisdom. We’re already planning what she wants to do this spring, I can’t wait! She’s so excited to garden again 😊🌿

Every time she is sped up and multiplies I keep thinking that is her normal speed. LOVE THE DRONE FOOTAGE AARON. @@Edu_Kate not really. The tree that was on my parents front yard was planted in 1970/71. It was huge by the mid 80's when we all use to hang under it. It was a beautiful tree, but use to drop these awful spiked balls in the late fall and all winter. You had to go out every day, for months, to clean them up. My oldest brother moved home to be with our mom about 6 years ago, and had to have the tree removed. The roots were going into her sewer lines and causing issues. Still strange to see it gone.

Beautiful! It's starting to look like a golf course :) I have a thought about path width, it's nice to keep it consistently the same width all along so that your mower can make a fixed number of runs the whole way, otherwise he might need to do random back and forward to catch random slivers of wider spaces. In other words, ease of mowing :)

We're still frost free thus far (I'm on Cape Cod zone 6b/7a depending on who you ask haha) but it's close. I keep putting my meyer lemon out each day tho, as it's big fruit are STILL green, I think they will will have to ripen in my tiny plant room (which does get lovely sun into Winter) I ADORE this time of year. To feel the cooler weather, thinking about putting things to bed (tho I still have daffs and garlic to put in) and dreaming of Christmas and forcing bulbs and scouring the seed catalogs in front of toasty fires on dark Winter's evenings.
Gardening Fills Each of the seasons with hope and I think that is why Gardeners are always young at heart : We're always excited for the next day and planning for tomorrows. Thank you Laura and all you start our day and then we all head out to work in our own gardens :)

I'm out near Worcester in zone 5b and it's chilly today! I, too, have daffs left to plant :) I also very much agree with your sentiment: we're always excited for the next day and planning for tomorrow. The joy of gardening!

Daffodils are easy to plant. I gave up on tulips. Too much work for a brief moment of beauty. Daffs keep giving and giving. I just don't care for their dying foliage we have to look at while they absorb solar energy. That's why we plant annuals.

@@melaniebolduc6148 I learned my love of gardening from my Grandfather, who lived a LONG time and he always told me "As long as there are gardens to plan, seeds to plant , flowers to smell or fruit to pick there is joy in tomorrow" And I always hold that in my thoughts.
Wow I guess the zones really are different as you move towards the East of good ole' MA.

@@Edu_Kate I totally agree and I gave up on tulips as well, tho mine was due to the fact that between the deer, squirrels and chipmunks (I even caught a skunk digging them up) it wasn't worth it. As daffs are deadly poison I believe they ALL leave them alone and the naturalize so wonderfully. I'm going to try some of the more exotic bloom type daffs this Autumn there seems to be so many variety now.

Haha, that little smile when you said the 28 degrees will pretty much button up the cut flower garden: I know that feeling! Toward the end of the season where you're trying to keep things as nice looking as you can, but you're kinda ready for it to be done. Different scale for you guys, and your two plus months of well over 100 degree temps, but same idea. It's OK for things to die now!

We do our grass this way at our house and we call it a crusty edge. The edge stays just dry and crusty enough to keep the grass from sending out runners into the flower beds. I'm loving how this space is turning out!
