Lived in Harold Hill spent my teenage years in and around Romford. Moved away nearly 30 years ago it’s changed so much, definitely more multi cultural now. Maybe just me being nostalgic but I prefer the old Romford. Was engaged to a lovely girl at the time (J Leaver) often wonder what happened to her. Hopefully you are well and happy.

It is nice to see the transformation of Romford Market into a car free pedestrian plaza. I grew up in Harold Hill, Romford and left in 1964 with my parents to Canada. Went back once in 2003 to visit a school friend, my schools and had chat with the headmaster at my secondary modern school in Dagenham.

It's pretty shocking to see Romford in decline, I grew up there but moved to Asia 20 years ago and I haven;t been back to the UK for more than 18 years.

it looks healthy, good mix of businesses, good number of people out actually shopping. A few questionable outfits. Many places wish for this kind of high st now.
I went to a warehouse in Silvertown E16 called Thrift factory Kilo sale !!
They had a massive selection you could spend a whole day there...
They only allow some people to pick and choose as they are really exporting mostly. but They also do events , thrift factory £10 per kilo
You need a strong back to go through the clothes as mostly in cages and trollies...
But it was worth it as many where Brand new with Tags...
