My son has severe autism and has always loved riding but he's not really all that fussed about spending time with the horses on the ground. He'll give them a pat after a ride to say 'thank you' but then he's off! Well my friend has a Friesian and one day he was loose in the school while my son was sitting at a small table outside the fence waiting for me to finish up with my horse. The Friesian came over to my son and started to gently nose at him, and he got up and started gently stroking its face and neck (which he's never done, even with his little Shetland that he loved, let alone a strange horse). Then he put his arms around its neck and boy and horse stood quietly hugging for ten minutes with a look of utter contentment on both their faces. No one at the yard could believe it and we all just stood drinking in the magic. He really is a special horse.
