From the little sea shanty town of Cervantes and there famous Lobster Shack we travel south visiting the very unique Pinnacles. Next up is the City of Perth where we indulge and visit some breweries but not before some shopping, caravan parks and getting fined. It was time to get out and escape to the beautiful Margaret river for some much needed bush camping and of course visiting some of the many wineries.All this and more whilst trying to stay dry and out of the WA wind.

Similar to what others here have said, I see why the car is stalling on you after the filter change. Your pumping the common rail pump full of air. Change both filters at the same time. Then prime the pump with the out let off the factory filter, put a little hose on it so you can catch it in a bottle, Keep pumping till all the air is out of both filters, then reconnect it and start the car, but dont rev it, just let it idle. It's no problem to then tip that fuel back in the car, no wastage then. Your problem will be no where near as bad. Your micron guess is correct by the way aswell...👍
Also, over the years of travel like that, running two filters, I found doing them every 50,000ks is perfectly fine.

You can buy a lift pump for the pre filter which I have found no problems with changing filters. Just prime the pre filter first then prime main filter.

Clamp the fuel lines on the aux tank when you change the filter and you'll get a lot less air into the system.

The other thing you can do is gently pressurise the fuel tank with your compressor with the outlet hose of you factor filter disconnected. This will push fuel through and lines.

Mate, with the filters if you take off the outgoing fuel line from main factory filter to the engine and then pump into a plastic bowl (or similar) until there is just fuel pumping out and no air, this should eliminate any air traps. Also do not rev the car, just let it idle after. It is also advisable not to change both the filters at the same time, split them say 6 months apart. I had same issues mate, this sorted it. Great vids too guys.

Husbands is a mechanic and has had the same problems as you and he says when it’s idling walk around and pump the primer until you feel it go hard. Don’t rev the engine. No guarantees but it worked for him. Good luck. Ps Enjoying your videos.

Hi Stewie thanks for the kind words. I assume your talking about the awning on the ute. Yes I would not leave home without it as it was handy on the beach, but yeah you really don’t use it much when towing a van.

I'm Not a Toyota man but remove both filters and assemble, take output off from priming pump fit a short hose and prime, when all air is out which you will see from that short hose then fit hose back on prime till hard and start engine. Try it next time and see how you go. As I see it your putting air into you high pressure pump. Its a shame you have to high tail it home, as I was hoping you were going to do all of S.A. as well.
