My good friend Mark Chai is a native Hawaiian artist who made that piece of art on the wall with the men holding a net with all the fish in it. It's a depiction of how the Native Hawaiians used nets to pull in fish from the ocean during the Hukilau. He also made the artwork hanging from the ceiling near the staircase. Fun fact, most of the supplies used (including the wood) is repurposed materials. He is truly some who finds treasures in someone else's trash. Loved your series on Hawaii. I moved away about 7 years ago and I miss it!
We have been there and it is AWESOME!! Expensive but well worth everything! Across the street walking distance is also a small shopping center and you can shop for necessities to use in your kitchens for bigger family parties. Almost like a little grocery store. The Hawaiin Shrimp are the best!! Miss you Ohana Hawaii!!
These relaxed "mini-tour" videos are so fun. It is a personal concern that a possible Target in Hawaii video sounds just as exciting as your trip to Kualoa Ranch. Can't wait for both ^^
Oh I can't wait for you guys to go back when everything's open! There are SO MANY fun things that aren't currently happening (tours, Uncle's storytelling, Ama Ama, etc.). Mama's Snack Shop was where I had coconut shrimp for the first time (and LOVED it). Great tour - we're enjoying watching these every day & remembering our two amazing trips!!! Mahalo for sharing!
This makes me want to book a trip to Aulani!! This place looks absolutely amazing. Even with some of the things close down. it would sure be amazing for you guys to go back and see it when it’s fully open. I miss vacation…
Thank y’all for making this series. I’ve been very interested in seeing what this resort has to offer and I love you guys’ videos, so win win! Hope you had fun!
Loving all the Hawaii content! It's always so fun to see Hawaii through a visitor's eyes. Aulani certainly is beautiful! One small thing I wanted to point out, the beach at Aulani is open to the public, as there are no private beaches in Hawaii. But I think most locals use the other coves because they are closer to public parking :) can't wait to see all the upcoming videos!
Something I love about you guys (I’ve been binging your content all week since I first discovered your channel) is that you both like to notice and point out the little things. Like the rock wall part of the shower. And the orange glow of the lamps. It’s just cute to me that y’all like to add all the little nuances of your (extra)ordinary adventures 😊
My grandmother said years ago that once she’s retired (48 years as a Nurse, retired in 2020 ❤️), we’d all take a big trip somewhere... think I may have convinced my family to travel to Aulani once everyone feels more comfortable doing so! Thanks for these videos, they’ve been a big help in convincing people so far 😂
I took the tour when I was there a few years ago. The interesting thing about the mural in the lobby is that it represents the different aspects of the resort. On the female side, you see mostly women. On the men's, same. Then there is the ocean side (Moana)= where you see the water and the mountain side (Mauka) where you see the hills. It's amazing how well thought out the resort is.
We were there last October. It is one of our Home Resorts. We weren’t sure if there were any airline restrictions when we had been thinking about coming back this year. . It’s great seeing all the beautiful Christmas decor. Beautiful views. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless you both.
This is such a wonderful video! Not only is it awesome for those of us who love following your adventures, it will be a great guide for people thinking about or planning to go to Aulani. It's so well done. 🌴🏖 And Kitra, there are Disney Resort exclusive Alex & Ani bracelets?! WHAT? What is wrong with me that I am more inclined to visit the parks in the future because I have this knowledge. 🤪
You know the pandemic wasn’t fun, but I think you went here at the perfect time. Low crowds, great prices and you both sound over the moon happy!!! I hope you can go back soon.
I watch a lot of WDW content and just came across you from a google search for Aulani - you guys are amazing! This was a great video and your presentation style is extremely engaging and you just seem like wonderful people! Just subscribed! Thank you!!
My father in-law did the sound design for the grotto pool and the Menehune Adventure. If you dip your head in the grotto pool you'll hear things like whale song and submarine pings.
If you get a 1 bedroom villa there is a larger television in the living room, but when you’re at Aulani you don’t typically watch a lot of television. 14:01 I noticed Kitra was wearing her pool bands from each day. We did the same thing last time we were there (for 10 nights). The kids kept them on for like a week after we left (went to WDW afterwards).
Peter says look at these men playing a board game. Then Kitra steps in to explain it is men fishing with a net. Nice confirmation of who the real brains of the operations truly is. 😂 Looks beautiful! Thank you for taking us on your adventure. 😁
Thank you so much for this video and showing what it's like during the pandemic. It's so helpful to know what to expect when times are so uncertain. We went to Aulani in 2018 and loved it. Thank you again!
Yoy guys really hit the sweet spot for anyone wanting to stay here. You have a knaxk for sharing info that is very relevant with a nice fliw to the video.
We loved the infinity grotto pool!!! The whale and dolphin sounds underwater were SO COOL!! You gotta go back when things are more open. Such an amazing place. I know Joe Rohde is very proud of this resort. He did a separate talk at our event (PNWMM) just about Aulani. So interesting!!
the way u guys show and explain stuff by exploring is really nice and relaxing to watch and very informative. keep up the good stuff. hopefully we get the disney and universal parks in full flow in 2021 after vaccines
Aulani truly seems to be a secluded paradise. While I can't blame kids getting upset when it's time to leave. For the money people normally spend at the resort, I'd steer clear of family areas as much as possible. Fun vlog!
Hey Peter and Kitra, in a previous video you asked if anyone would be interested in a cost break down of your Aulani trip, and my wife and I are total budget nerds. So if your willing to share, we are eager to listen. I had never even heard of Aulani before you two talked about it, and now it's on my bucket list! So any budget advice is greatly appreciated! Do you guys have a list of what is open or not at the resort? My husband and I are thinking of going to Aulani for our first Anniversary/Honeymoon in July.
The art piece where the men are surrounding a square arrangement of fish holding a net depicts a traditional Hawaiian group fishing practice called a “hukilau”. 😊 ʻŌlelo means “language” in Hawaiian, hence all the Hawaiian words and definitions in the ʻŌlelo Room! 😄 p.s. I said “oh yay! 😄” when I saw the Leonard’s Malasada box in the fridge! 😁

The art piece where the men are surrounding a square arrangement of fish holding a net depicts a traditional Hawaiian group fishing practice called a “hukilau”. 😊
ʻŌlelo means “language” in Hawaiian, hence all the Hawaiian words and definitions in the ʻŌlelo Room! 😄
p.s. I said “oh yay! 😄” when I saw the Leonard’s Malasada box in the fridge! 😁
🙌😄🏝❤️
