Thanks so much for a great video of our little village! We're the owners of the little piggy you saw - her name is Dolly and she has a smaller brother named Fanie and they are our adorable little pets (hence the jersey as it was a little cold that day 😆) Anyway - if you'd like to know their story and get to know them a little better, feel free to head on over to our channel to meet them. Thanks again for the great video!
What a gem of a little hamlet tucked away near nowhere! I could move there in a heartbeat. I would imagine that Marietjies Pub and Grill becomes very lively on a Saturday night 😏. The pig in the jacket was the cherry on the cake! Awesome, awesome stop. Thank you.
Got my glass of wine, and sat myself down to enjoy the latest adventure of my favourite couple ❤ That sunrise is so awesome! Wow! Love the proteas, reminds me of our home in Kleinmond, where they also just grew wild. My ouma used to make tomato jam. So delicious! Cornerstone... birth certificate...😂... love it. Cemetery is very interesting. Graves of children always make me cry. So many beautiful trees. I prefer winter. Can't handle the heat, makes me really ill. Love the cats crossing ❤
My kinda small town ! Never been there but I have made a note that my sister and I will visit Baardskeerdersbos when we get to SA! Thank you for showing us the beautiful place! We booked and paid the tickets for two days after Christmas until end of January!
The prettiest little village yet! I love everything about it. 50 years younger and i would be moving there in a flash. Been there once a few years ago but its just so much better visiting Bbos with you... wonderful photography and comments . Thanks again!
They're beautiful to look at, but we've become super minimalist in the last decade or so and stopped collecting 'stuff'. All we collect now, are memories. They're much lighter to carry. 🚙🤩
My grandparents lived there and we visited their small farm so many times during our childhood days, and even after they passed away since my cousin bought the place and renovated it. We were so thrilled to see what it looks like now. Would like to go there again. And Uilkraalsmond and Pearly Beach will forever be our favourite beach holidays.
Hi guys B Bos is lekker. Quirky name and the village lives up to its name. Loved the drive in and Sonia discibed it perfectly ( the beauty is endless) .once again the drone footage captures how rural it is .with a population of 103 they definitely punch above their weight!!! So clean with love old property's. The cafe with art work blows my mind skull painted with flowers in the blue and white style what a imagination!!!!!!!! . With a posh loo .the pup and grill with the quirky artifacts and a massive breakfast right up my alley. The church was stunning and so was the mini one national monument well deserved. Then you couldn't make it up pig in a jacket beware cats crossing the old school was great bikers ladies work shop .loved the small holdings my dream. So impressed with the whole place and the barn conversion to antiques and fresh produce Sonia got it spot on the entrepreneurship is amazing. What a amazing video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
Once again another hidden gem. From the protea flowers, coffee shop, pub & grill absolutely stunning. Trees and vegetation so green, can't wait for the next one. Be safe.❤
Stunning! So green and peaceful. :) Could so easily live there! Your winters are so warm :D Amazing seeing proteas growing by the roadside. In europe just one costs a fortune!
Hi you two! What could could be more amazing than a trip straight into the rising sun? The astonishing B/Bos! I have no words to describe my emotions on your exploration of this place. Every coffee shop, bar, restaurant is a museum, art gallery or library. The green plots and town beautifully displayed by your drone view. I agree with Sonia, I would want to live there. If ever I visit B/Bos I will not be able to leave. I hope the town will thrive without losing its unique charm. I can't wait for your next trip (but I will!). Until then - Keep safe!
That sunrise blew our minds! 🌄 There's just something about the crisp, clean air of the early morning and when the sun shows off like it did that morning, we're super happy to be alive. I'm glad you enjoyed Bbos with us, it really was a uniquely special place and we still think back often to the short time we spent there. Thanks for coming along! 🚙😁
We have spent the last year trying to buy a house in Bbos. pick the keys up next week. Moving from the UK. The couple who live at the house with the pig in a coat also have a youtube channel...😀
This was a very nice trip. Amazing that they survive. It is small but still! Nice place where you had breakfast. Must be a rich history buried there. Thanks as usual you showed us so much. Next one coming up with me on board
Ooooh I'm totally in love with this place....🤗🤗🤗 everything even the green grass....omw Your drone footage said a million words. And the piggie....Ugh no you caught me off guard with this village. Well done I think I'll just stay in the car for the next spot 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
We travelled through B.Bos during our visit in April and heard that it is famous for breakfasts. We couldn't help laughing at the strange name😂! We didn't stop because we had recently eaten a veritable feast at the Black Oyster Catcher vineyard in Elim, and were heading to Hermanus, which is also beautiful! ❤
@richardbos366 The name of this beautiful place is rather funny, and long! 😁 We drove through Elim a long time ago in Episode 39 already and visited Hermanus more recently in Episode 384. Check them out if you haven't seen them yet. 🚙
Thankyou. I heard over radio ,they went there under a tree or near a bush and they shave and cut hair ,like at a barber shop and then they called it Baardskeerdersbos.I never thought of it as a settlement
I love this place ,never get enough of it. the place you had breakfast used to have a feeling full of peek caps but they were removed to make the place lighter inside. The other thing is that the village used to have a Boere orkes, names "Baardskeerdersbos Orkes". I believe the owner of the B Bus Winkel was related to the leader. A few years ago I stopped at the shop and bought all their CD's I love pulling them out and playing along with my fiddle. Numbers such as 'Manie se Gansbaai Windjobbles', Kleinbaai se Troffel Skoffel etc AaaaaaI, Hoe lekker kry ek nou!!!!!!!
Hay Cafe had just recently opened and only served beverages and small baked goods like Brownies at the time. ☕🍪 We had no option but to look elsewhere for breakfast and the owner referred us to Marietjies. 🍳🥓 We thoroughly enjoyed both places.
"Kom ek met die Rooispan van Bredarsdorp af"....Baardskeerdersbos orkes...That was the first thing that came into my mind. You must google the Baardskeerdersbos Orkes....Man I just love that music...it lives on my music flashdrive in my vehicle. Nice that you visited this small little place with the friendly people. Now I suppose we are on our way to Pearly Beach...lol. Anyway it does not matter where you go, it's always nice to follow you 2....
Sonia and I immediately stopped working when I read your comment and we just had to listen to 'Rooi Span van Bredasdorp'. 😁🎶 So cool and catchy, we love boeremusiek too! We visited Pearly Beach in Episode 38 already, shortly after we started our channel. Happy to have you along wherever we go! 🚙
When she says why do you think I come with you, you have to shine bright! Because I am the best, warmest, pure brilliant, kind and humble person you could ever meet to go walk about with!!!
This was a surreal episode for me! There's so much to say about it, from the dressed pig to the fresh proteas, the 103 population and the serene beauty of nature, but what I'd like to comment on here is the Junction 52 farmstall. Those wooden wardrobes look just like the ones my grandparents had and I'm wondering if they could be the very ones my grandparents used! If the farmstall owners happen to see this comment, I'd appreciate it very much if they could comment on where they acquired the wardrobes. It'll be quite something if it's indeed the ones that used to belong to my grandparents, who lived in Kakamas until 2013 when my grandfather went to rest in his grave. Those hat suitcases also bring back fond memories! My grandparents gave me one when I was a little boy and whenever they were about to leave from a visit to us, I'd go and grab my round suitcase that I've already packed and said that I'd go with them!
Wonderful video. Maybe I missed it. Do you know why it is called Baardskeerdersbos? Baard meaning Beard, It is actually interersting. I read about it a few months ago.
We might pop in when we pass through the village again on a return visit to the area without the camera. I hope you enjoyed what we did get to see and visit in our video! 🚙😁
Saw my biker group. At Ouskool for breakfast, probably before church if this was a Sunday. You should have spoken to us, a good bunch made up of Veterans and their families, who do a lot of charity work. Based in Gansbaai, Kleinbaai and Franskraal. I enjoyed your dissertation of B Bos, it is a regular stop for us.
It was a crisp Saturday morning, 18 May. It was really cool to hear and see your bikes. 😁🏍️ We overnighted in Van Dyksbaai the evening before, and also visited Kleinbaai, Franskraal and Uilenkraalsmond in Episode 482 if you're interested. You're lucky to live in a gorgeous part of our country. Safe travels!
Could you please put a coffee table book/s together of the Churches of South Africa? I think these buildings might not be preserved for the future generations.
I think that may be a job for someone else. Churches are just one of our interests and we're doing our bit by documenting as many as we can in the places we visit. 🚙💒 Judging by the condition of the vast majority of them, I do feel rather hopeful that they will still survive for many more generations. I hope I'm right.
🤓 Well, then I suggest you take a trip to Baardskeerdersbos yourself and see what else you can find. We were super happy with what we saw and included in our video. 🚙😁

The prettiest little village yet! I love everything about it. 50 years younger and i would be moving there in a flash.

Love this place. You must sometimes be so tempted to buy some of the lovely arts and crafts you see where ever you go.
They're beautiful to look at, but we've become super minimalist in the last decade or so and stopped collecting 'stuff'. All we collect now, are memories. They're much lighter to carry. 🚙🤩
Fantastic guys .... you sure have my envy bigtime !!! .... enjoy every moment , you sure do it for me with your travels !! ❤

Thank you for visiting our little hamlet in BBos. Hope you come for a longer stay and get in more of the nature and locals. Safe travels.
@ 4minutes "what a stunning country" - I can only concur. Keep calm and love South Africa❤

Nice, I would’ve eaten at the 1st lady, that you had coffee at. Her place was lovely.

@@DustBugsTravel THAT's the spirit!! Nice work guys!
What a beautiful village.Thankyou Sonia and hubby for this wonderful adventure of appreciating our wonderful country south Africa.

Love seeing inside the churches. So intriguing the corner stone birth certificate ..... Jesus

Yup, we do! Sonia explains the origin of the name closer to the end of our video. 🚙😁 I'm glad you enjoyed Bbos with us.
Next time you come, you must go into the Bbos Winkel!

i still have the green table and six chairs you are talking about Sonja
Baie dankie vriende
nice Peorias from the local area. Is it permitted to pick them?
I have no idea. We never pick flowers or plants from any area we visit, so I never ask. 🌺
Pragtig!

Does Sonja suffer from pain due to the cold?
No pain from the cold, no. She is extremely sensitive to cold weather though. 🥶
and she swerved good coffee

Don't forget to fuel yourselves and get Biltong and Hash Browns from Mc Donald's

Lovely town but saw little of it. Tyou
