    Simply excellent. We never get tired of seeing stories from the wild west.

      Thank you! We feel exactly the same about those stories. 😄

    Lester Moore was employed as a Wells Fargo station agent. Hank Dunstan showed up to claim a package one afternoon. He received it, but it was mangled. An argument ensued, and both Moore and Dunstan reached for their six shooters. When the smoke cleared, Lester lay dead behind his window with four .44 slugs in his chest. Dunstan, was also mortally wounded with one shot Moore managed to get off. Its not known where Dunstan is buried.

      We've seen that story a number of times. Would be really neat to see if there are historical documents on him and the others buried there. 😊

      @@CactusAtlas Not sure if you have seen this but I have been looking at Old News papers from that time. There is tons of great stuff. The Arizona Memory Project has digitized old papers and I have found many fascinating articles. I have yet to find anything on Moore yet but there are many articles of other notorious outlaws.

    I went here when I was a kid, it's been 25 years since but I have really pleasant memories of Tombstone, the whole town is cool. The cemetery was cool, seeing the outlaw graves was really interesting to me especially since I liked westerns a lot back then lol. The mines were pretty awesome as well, the little museum they have there is great.

    We visited it today! Can't believe how many people died in that town between 1881 to 1883. Crazy how life was back then in the wild west!!

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isn't it? Especially when just about every headstone says they were shot! 😳

    I was just watching your video and I did not realize they tried metal markers in the cemetery. This cemetery is interesting to tour but trying to figure out what is real and what isn't is practically impossible. It was certainly set up for tourism and I understand that. I do have trouble buying the Lester Moore one. It definitely sounds touristy and I had read that people could not find records on him. If I lived closer I would love to go thru the courthouse records.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same. We really hope to do just that one day. And you're absolutely right about tourism and some of these towns. It's hard to tell what is truth versus what makes for a good tale

      It's always hard to really know what's real and what gets fabricated or exaggerated throughout years, isn't it? One day if we have time (and lots of it), I think it would be fascinating to really dig into the archives and records of Tombstone.

    The Dec. 14, 1879, edition of the Arizona Daily Star stated: “Last Tuesday a shooting took place at Safford in which Louis Hancock was shot by Johnny Ringo. It appears Ringo wanted Hancock to take a drink of whiskey, and refused, saying he would prefer beer. Ringo then struck him over the head with his pistol and fired, the ball taking effect in the lower end of the ear and passing through the fleshy part of his neck. Half an inch more in the neck would have killed Hancock. Ringo is under arrest.”

    You see that's my problem with movies. I've been to boot hill, and no way on hell is it located near town. Tombstone is one of my favorite places to visit. In fact, the lady that runs the gift shop in the center of town is sick of me trying to buy Wyatte Earp's Colt revolve.

    Are most on BOOTHILL buried at ground level or very shalloww graves?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume shallow graves. Not 100% sure to be honest, but I do know they used to put rocks on those graves to keep the coyotes from digging up those at rest. So likely means they did not dig too deep.
