I'm convinced Zelda's true power is her ability as the best hype man. She got everybody riding the Link train and betting their entire futures on a guy they've never even met.
Still doesn’t make sense since there is still a hero in the “original calamity”mentioned in BOTW we even get an armor set for him so why was this link more important than that hero?
@oscarm7787 makes perfect sense, the original hero didn't have anyone managing his pr. Didn't get famous until he died and people examined his work afterwards, happens all the time. A good hype man is a necessity.
@@oscarm7787the first calamity didn’t decimate Hyrule castle and allow Ganondorf to escape. Not to mention, the Zonai hero had all the help he needed, whereas Link needed to reclaim the divine beasts, become a single champion army, and had a Zelda that only just unlocked her power and used it to hold back Ganon for 100 years. I’d pick the guy that was able to do all that with amnesia over some ancient hero that has no known history of struggling, because even with those feats BotW Link barely made it alive from his first interaction with a mummified Ganondorf. Ancient hero would’ve likely been killed. Especially with the fact that Rauru’s arm had been weakening Ganondorf down from the imprisoning war to Link and Zelda’s arrival. Had he been found 10,000 years earlier he’d have been far stronger than what we had to face off against

Well in their defense they couldn’t defeat ganon and they knew it. Link defeated calamity Ganon. He wields the sword. Zelda’s idea of link gives them something they don’t have. Hope

I had that exact same thought! It even sounds the same the exact moment of the punch.

And the saddest thing is that he knew.
He knew he was walking into a battle where he was warned that he would die…and it didn’t matter. Rauru still went into that battle fully accepting that he wouldn’t come out of it alive and that he still needed to do what needed to be done.

I see it more as though the Hero was never born in the era of the first kingdom, but Ganondorf was. Without the Hero who wields the Master Sword they were powerless, so they did the only thing they could. Hold Ganondorf until the day the Hero is born to defeat him

@@Hexstasy100 it’s equivalent to WindWaker, when the Goddesses decided to flood Hyrule to stop Ganondorf, all because the Hero of Time disappeared
I thinks it's rather the case that the last hero, the one to finally defeat Ganondorf and destroy the root of the calamity, was also the first: the story is a loop/spiral. You can think of Rauru as the first hero, but he drew up his plan to defeat Ganondorf _after Zelda told him about Link,_ meaning he inherited the charge of fighting Gnaondorf _from Link_ even though Link wouldn't be born for millennia.
In BOTW, the "last leader of Hyrule" King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule, charged Link with defeating Ganon. In TOTK, Link passed his charge to Rauru -- the _first_ leader of Hyrule.
"In the world to come, the last shall be first, and the first shall be last."
Also consider that the game's motif is a ring of two dragons consuming each other, forming an uroboros.
@@Gladr-sk5xu this is pretty much the original backstory to a link to the past. ganondorf stole a sacred power, and the sages, originally wise men, sealed him away.
@@Excalibur5k Ganon's been sealed away a million times at this point. Zelda uses the "they couldn't beat them so they sealed them away" trope more than any other fictional series to my knowledge.
I love the subtle respect Ganondorf gives Rauru in this entire encounter. Here stands the King of the Land, going up against a Mortal using the full power of a Secret Stone, and sacrificing themself for the Greater Good of their Kingdom. Ganondorf never really sounds mad he's being sealed, he's genuinely impressed with how Rauru did it.
Tbh I never saw this til just now. “What a clever way to solve your problems… … thousands of years will pass in the blink of an eye; you only delay the inevitable.” He truly wasn’t even mad that he was sealed because he knew it was only temporary - and he loved the idea of fighting Link in the future to prove Rauru wrong. He definitely was impressed that Rauru somehow sealed him.
they never could win. thats the thing. as long as there is no "link" in that time line, ganondorf is usually sealed or imprisoned away somewhere until there is both a link and zelda in the current timeline. For that is the fate of the ones both blessed and cursed by the triforce

Honestly, once Link started killing everything in Hyrule and started crucifying Koroks, Ganondorf probably regretted everything he’d ever done…
This single cutscene raises the stakes for TotK so much higher. It makes you realise that there was never any danger of Link failing to defeat Calamity Ganon in BotW, else Zelda could have never travelled to the past and this scene wouldn’t have been possible. This time though, the possibility of Ganondorf defeating Link is very real.
Since the timeline is split into two by Terrako, how will this affect the Age of Calamity alternate reality?
@@a.jthomas6132 Tears of the Kingdom probably plays out the same way in that timeline, even with Terrako's involvement. Ganondorf began to wake up because of the disturbance caused by the calamity, which did still happen in AoC. The only difference is that they won.
@@AmalGum001 Yeah because Ganon in that timeline still destroyed Hyrule Castle and the Town. Just that the champions survived and Divine Beasts weren't corrupted. But Ganon still made a huge disturbance weakening the Seal. So 100 or so years later, Ganondorf would break free, even if Terrako was involved
@@a.jthomas6132 you know Terrako was built by Zelda during the second calamity and since Terrako was built during the second Calamity it was during a time when the kingdom of Hyrule forgot about the power that lies dormant in the temple of time and all of the time portals from Skyward Sword no longer exist so how is Terrako and AOC canon since he was built during an era when Hyrule didn’t even know about the time traveling power that exists in the temple of time Terrako at least needed a small piece of the time traveling power from the temple

This scene is terrifying when you think about it. Rauru had him sealed there for so long, everything but his arm turned to dust, but after all that time, Ganondorf was *still* powerful enough to nearly kill Link in a couple seconds.
I remember when I first started the game. I was in complete shock at how easily Ganondorf obliterated the Master Sword moments after being revived.
Did Ganon live longer because he had Sonia’s time stone?

This is the scene when everything changed for me. This game felt a little more real, a little more of a struggle between immense evil and overwhelming good. Beautiful. Peak cinema in gaming.

4:22 man after i saw this scene while playing, with rauru telling ganondorf that he will be defeated by a swordsman name link while the zelda theme song plays, it just made me want a zelda movie like this. epic, exciting and badass.
This cutscene can be best be described as epically prophetic. To any onlooker alive during this time, it seems that the resistance has only achieved a temporary pyrrhic victory, with Ganandorf merely being locked away in a temporary slumber at the expense of their beloved king. That is what Rauru thinks too, and yet he’s willing to trust in Zelda’s wisdom and places all his faith in a hero destined to be born thousands of years into the future. He places the fate of Hyrule into the hands of the knight with the sword that seals the darkness and literally tells the manifestation of evil that he will be defeated by said hero because destiny itself has ordained it to be so. Really drives home now Link isn’t some knight that got lucky (like what Revali thought), but is indeed the savior of Hyrule as proclaimed by its very first king thousands of years ago.

so why is there 2 Zelda then how can Zelda be in the distant past when she was already in the botw. as she wasn't there 10.000 years ago with Raura 1st king of hyrule and like it confused me how does this play out showing the last batter with all sages and Zelda even tho zelda wasn't there 10.000 years ago so how does it play out when she was born in botw after her mother pass away work that one out, as Zelda did say to ganondorf " how do you know our name" but yet the picture on the wall show that she was in it but she doesn't have a clue help me on this please
@Adrian Rennie Zelda was always in the past. Zelda traveled to the past and all the events of the past occurred as we saw them in game. Then, she transformed into a dragon and was able to live until current times as a dragon, unrecognizable to anyone as Zelda. That's why Ganonforf recognizes Link and Zelda at the beginning of the game, because he met Zelda after she traveled to the past and he heard of Link from Rauru.

@Adrian Rennie Think of it like this. Zelda was born and grew up until the Calamity happened, in which Link was defeated, was sent to rest, and the kingdom fell into ruin for 100 years. After that, Link wakes up and BOTW happens. A few years later, Link and Zelda go investigate the gloom under hyrule castle, and there they find Ganondorf. Ganondorf attacks Zelda and Link, and as a result, Zelda travels back in time. *Then* Zelda experiences all of the events in the past, and the last thing she does there is become a dragon. Zelda's story is linear, and the events of the present happen before the events of the past to her. In BOTW and at the beginning of TOTK, she has yet to time travel. As such, she doesn't yet know of what happened in the past. You need to view it less as "Zelda is both in the past and the present" and more as "Zelda was in the present and then in the past".
The music for this game is just so good!! At 4:33 with the horns playing the main theme and the choir singing in the back! It really adds a lot to this scene!

The bell toll at 3:30 when Rauru’s secret stone insignia appears and the reversal of the bell sound is badass. I get chills throughout this whole cutscene.
I like how Rauru and ganons last moments together are both of them smiling both so sure of each others future claims. Absolutely badass.

Ganondorf is supposed to respect strength, but he refuses to acknowledge Link's strength and admit defeat. He's just a bad player and not the Ganondorf we know would have reacted.

I remember the moment Ganondorf mentioned Rauru, just thinking "Oh! Ocarina of Time ties!" and being slightly disappointed when the aforementioned Rauru wasn't the sage Rauru. But that disappointment faded away, and I came to appreciate the character, and even admire him, given *everything* he was willing to sacrifice to put a stop to this game's incarnation of Ganondorf! Especially when you stop and think about it, all the OOT Rauru did was just sitting around in the Temple of Light and sicking his dumb owl on the players to tell them stuff they already knew...........
If you think about it, is he not still the Sage of Light? I know they only spoke of 6, but Rauru is clearly also essentially a sage with light power
Makes you wonder if they'll do new incarnation of Rauru in the future with the recurring or similar role just as Impa and Beedle did.
Since the Sage of Light is named Rauru, I think it's also fair to assume the Zora Sage is Ruto, the Goron Sage is Darunia and the Gerudo Sage is Nabooru. I'm not sure about the Rito Sage since Medli was a girl, but I'm gonna call him Medar since he's also the Wind Sage like Makar. These guys are who the Divine Beasts are named after.
@@speedude0164 It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that was the case! After all, Nintendo has said that the Wild games are meant to be a convergence or merging of the timelines, which is why there are places, weapons, armors, other gear and so on that reference all of the different timelines in them. So, it is only natural that all of the Sages, outside of Mineru, could be references to, or named after the original seven.

“As long as one man stands against you, you will never be able to claim victory.”
“Noble sentiments, from one who is about to die.”
“I’ve lived my life by those sentiments, they’re well worth dying for.”
But for real, they had a 6v1 and each of those 6 had a secret stone, and couldn’t beat him, and two of them were part of a species said to be related to gods, and yet, they couldn’t beat him, however, link managed to do it without the Master Sword, just a regular guy, how fucking powerful is link, and god forbid, imagine what link would have been like with a secret stone of his own
I mean none of the sages had an anti evil weapon or the spirit of the hero

Just how Ganondorf's eyes fade to black, Rauru's eyes become glazed over and lifeless. Subtle detail to show that he too, died with Ganondorf. Being sealed for thousands of years along side him.

I like to imagine that Rauru fought Ganondorf with a Zonai mech at some point before the final battle and it wasn't enough to defeat him.
At this point, Rauru has never even met Link, yet places so much faith in him only through Zelda's accounts.

I love this cutscene purely because of the music, the way the theme of the music from the opening of the game plays as Rauru is preparing to perform the seal on Ganon, the way the main legend of Zelda theme plays as Ganon learns about Link, and the way that it all slowly transitions into the music from the opening at the end is just absolute perfection. I get goosebumps every time I watch this scene.
Every time I hear the legend of Zelda jingle in these scenes, it never fails to give me goosebumps. I don't know why.

I love the sound effect at 3:27. When I first saw this in-game I got chills hearing that sound effect. As well as seeing Rauru’s secret stone icon. Rauru is badass. He took one for the team so that later on Link can kick Ganondorf’s ass. This is one of my favorite cutscenes lol.

It's really sad because Rauru stood in place for 10,000 years, keeping Ganondorf sealed.
When Link and Zelda first find Ganondorf, all that's left of Rauru is his hand. Meaning that Rauru's body decayed and vanished over all those years.
I makes me sad.
10 000 years ago was when Calamity Ganon was originally defeated with the help of the Guardians and Divine Beasts. This happened way before that. I'm guessing about 50 000 years.

Not exactly sure where this fits in the Zelda timeline, though I’m sure it will be worked out eventually, but from this through Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, the first Calamity and BOTW…….I think it’s somewhere between fifty to a hundred thousand years of Ganondorf being trapped down there.
When the main theme came on and Ganondorf was excited to meet link. It just made me want to fight him even more. Thousands of years past to this one battle. Im ready 😎
Skyward sword did happen people. This is confirmed by Aonuma. That´s why the release skyward hd before this. This games serves as a sequel to skyward and breath of the wild. But keep in mind thousands of years have passed and several eras until they establish the kingdom. Link, Groose, Zelda, her father they have been dead for a very very long time. Those events were forgotten and considered legends. In our world stuff that happend 4k years ago are considered legends or are really blurred and wer are more advanced than this people. Thats why nobody knows about the master sword or even the triforce, because it was sealed in the sacred realm. This games happen in a time expand of thosands of years. Maybe the minish cap ocurred 6000 years after this. They wouldn´t remember any of this stuff, that´s why they wrote it down in the murals down the castle and EVEN WITH THAT , it still considered a legend..

@@VergilGaming19 No, Calamity Ganon happen in breath of the wild and it´s the malice of this ganondorf. Beetween the sealing and breath of the wild thousands and thousands of year pass and in that time the rest of the games. Ofcourse there are retcons this saga has 30 + years, but it matches the timeline. Some people prefer to see this as a reboot, I can not see it this way because the flashbacks take place in the prosperity era and that appears in hyrule historia. Besides the triforce has already been sealed.

Every scene in Zelda that mentions the hero followed by the main theme, whether that is in the wink waker when link sees the triforce of courage on his hand, or here when Rauru tells ganon of the hero who will slay him, it never fails to be so dang epic every time
This scene was amazing. I get chills every time I watch it. But I’m sorta getting tired of the memories. I wish I could play through all of the tense moments and not just hear about them

So was Calamity Ganon the product of Rauru siphoning out Ganondorf’s magic into the atmosphere?
I would think it was Raurus seal being close to breaking. Calamity could be an omen of Ganons return. Like his power creeping out of the seal.
Impa actually discusses this back in Kakariko village after you collect all the memories and progress a certain amount through the game (I don’t remember how far).

@@couragew6260 In BotW they mention that Ganon was in a rage incapable of regaining his body is i remember correctly. Ganon was made with Ganondorf gloom, that make sense that the seal was starting to be weak but i suggest the seal was very weak in BotW time. Ganon first appear was before BotW, in BotW Ganon destroyed hyrule "killing Link". Link waking up 100 years later loosing all his memories in the shrine of resurrection. It is mentionned to that every time Ganon was appeared he gained power every time if i remember wich confirm about the seal starting to be weak.

The Calamity Ganon not only happened once or twice but atleast a few times during his imprisonment, a sign of the ever weakening Seal.
But the Question is how many Links and Zeldas where Born before the Events of BotW took place.
It is a bit confusing though, somwehre it is also Mentioned ingame with 10.000 years Ago, so we don’t really know for sure how long Ganon was actually sealed down there, directly under Hyrule Castle.
There are also some references on the Gerudo and why no male Gerudo was born a very long time.

Honestly idk how these theory channels are going to make sense of this mess.
Botw clearly states that Skyward, oot, and Twilight happen, which means a hero existed the same time this ganondorf. We see in a different cutscene ganondorf swearing loyalty to the king (as seen in oot from the garden)
But in this timeline, ganondorf doesnt give two doodoos about the triforce, rather he wants to get "stoned" and very clearly DOESN'T meet or kill the hero of time. (He didnt turn his head and see link or link just straight up wasnt there) The hero of time also does not awaken any of the sages, rather they are chosen by Rauru.
It just doesnt make any sense.
There have been multiple instances of zelda before so reincarnation isn’t linear, ganondorf has already been reincarnated before. Also the kingdom of Hyrule has been refounded before after the sea swallowed it so likely the zonai coming down is another refounding after Hyrule fell.
Only if you assume it's the same Ganondorf, but repeated reference is made to the fact that a Gerudo king is only born once every 100 years, as if to remind you that the Ganondorf we're familiar with isn't the only Gerudo king to have ever existed.

Ganondorf just wants power, the vehicle itself doesn't matter. The stones in this timeline were enough to give him that. Whether the Triforce is just lost or doesn't reveal itself, it's just the sages' powers were enough for him to rule just by him corrupting it but he doesn't need a triforce specifically.

That way we’d get an explanation as to how this Ganondorf who predates all the others can exist while other versions of Ganondorf/Ganon start appearing in the years to come.
