The crave has taken my 7 speed spot even though it's a 6.5. I just got a glow drift in a gyro box today super stoked to try it lol but def try a crave. Thanks for the video
I was in this predicament before with pretty much similar choices (Teebird, Evader, Explorer). I found the Teebirds to be very consistent in flight, but I release it inconsistently since the rim is deeper compared to the other two. I ended up sticking with the Explorer for now.
to further complicate things, a max weight 6 speed proton crave flies like a champion teebird or a beat in 8 speed star TL3. The crave skips less and the TL3 goes a little further. But ultimately for your teebird slot, you should have... a teebird!
I have an Evader just about identical to your Ace Run Pro one. I definitely like that disc a lot. I also have a couple Teebirds, but what I've been bagging for this slot recently is a "liar" Leopard3. It's Champion plastic and I picked it up from a used bin, and it flies almost the same as the Evader. My champ Teebird will fly straight and then have a strong fade, but this "Leopard3" will start fading (gradually) almost as soon as it leaves my hand. Very reliable and useful flight.
i have been meaning to play around with the Leopard 3 and just ordered one in a batch for a friend to play with. It wasn't in Champ plastic, but I am excited to mess with it! Thanks
7 speeds there are so many of those. Discmanias FD is for me totally straight with a fade at the end. FD1 and FD3 har more and more stable. I love the River it's dead straight, you can send it at any line and it just holds it. Brave is awesome as well slight turn and a reliable fade at the end. Oh boy I love 7 speeds and can't decide wish ones to put in the bag
I feel the same way! We are so spoiled with great discs these days! Back in the 90's the disc selections were so much easier... and fewer. Thanks for watching!
Explorer…..my favorite mid-range flex forehand disc. Teebird is my mid-range flat to fade forehand disc. Backhand mid-range Mako3 is the king. Thank you for the video Pete.
I have spent the last year rebuilding my bag. I spent a lot of time building the perfect bag for me, only to realize after building it, that there were 0 Made in the USA discs in it. It was 90% Trilogy. All made in Sweden. As of yesterday, only one Trilogy disc will stay in my bag... I'm convinced that nothing flies like a Latitude 64 River. Lone Star Discs has taken over my bag. Yesterday I finally found a viable replacement for my Evaders slot. The Lone Star Trinity...7/5/0/2...in Bravo plastic. Very smooth release on Forehand and backhand throws. I highly recommend trying out the brand. Also... what part of Alabama are you in? My home base is in/near Repton.
Latitude is so good in the 7 speeds though. Besides the River, I'd really struggle with cutting more than maybe one of Maul, Brave or Glory. I've got mostly MVP at lower speeds, Latitude in the middle, and mostly Innova at the fastest with just a few exceptions.
Good morning, Mr Pibb. Merry Christmas. I love my 7 speeds, although I prefer straighter flying discs. I have been waffling between a Brave and Titanium (Løft discs) Well, I lost my Brave in the snow yesterday (yes, the snow) so I imagine the Titanium will see more throws until I get it back. (I thought the Eagle was a 10 speed? 8 speed?) Enjoy your day. FYI, coming to this channel, I look for and expect practice tips. How to improve throwing in certain situations and looking at my full bag. If I wanted form upgrades I would watch Over Throw videos. Don’t let the Scrooges get to you. They are missing out on the joy of this channel.
that's funny you may be right that the eagle is probably nine speed now that you mention it :-) and don't worry I don't get too uptight about the form folks :-) yeah I might have to put on a light sweater today since it's so cold outside... brrrr 60 degrees Fahrenheit!
Thought space votum is my goat in ethos plastic. It's basically the tee bird slot in mvp's proton plastic so it's got some beef to it in the beginning. Got my first ace at USF riverfront park on a hole that I knew was eventually gonna drain because I had hit chains so many times with this particular disc. Ahh your troll is basically a votum upon my detective work being remix is MVP plastic with votum numbers according to the peanut gallery Redditors. Always good advice Pete thanks for doing what you do.
I was trying to remember what the Troll was in its original branding... I am loving the Trolls and so it would make sense that the Votum is a great disc. :D Thanks for the good word and encouragement!
Hi Pete, I see from looking at your PDGA stats you had a 19 year gap in tournament play. Is that work taking you away from the sport? injury? The reason I ask is I am looking to get back into a few tournaments after a couple of sizeable gaps and one shoulder replacement. I am working to rehab the shoulder and correct decades long bad form habits while rebuilding my bag with plastic from this century. Most of my old bag was PFN (pre flight numbers) and mainly Discraft and Innova with a couple of wham-o discs. I am looking forward to studying your other videos, and the plastic you recommend. Thanks.
Hey, thanks for the question. I placed 5th in the Am Worlds and then moved overseas to work with a Christian ministry in Bangkok, Thailand. Had 4 kids along the way and when we returned to the States I had made an agreement with my wife to only play one tournament just to get it out of my system... ended up qualifying for the US Open, but I knew I needed to focus on family and I was going through a battle with cancer and depression... so I loved disc golf, but stopped competing. I too had a bag of old preflight stuff up until just before Covid when I coworker came along really into the sport and dragged me to a Trilogy 3 disc challenge that I ended up tying for first. The bug to get back to playing at a more serious level came back and in the years since I have had to learn about all these new discs, flight numbers, PDGA ratings etc... I was solely Innova since the 90's since that is what Ken Climo threw and I was able to compete against him... stole the teepad from him one time... still pretty proud of that. So I am still figuring out plastics and disc companies because my mind is stuck back in DX plastic for everything and the Viper was the best disc on the market. Right after I got serious about the sport again... I had to have shoulder surgery due to forehands in disc golf and serving too hard in tennis... so I basically lost another year of throwing right handed. I am now at an age where my kids are just about out of the nest and I can play some more tournaments, but I work at a church and so I can't get free on Sundays, but I will try to play more tournaments in the next few years hopefully. The biggest advice I would give to someone like myself and you sound similar is to regulate and moderate your pitch count (Throw count) I tend to be too gung ho some days and throw way too many shots and then don't take a break... resulting in getting banged up and having to sit out for a while. As we age, some of the best tournament players are the ones with good health and stamina, so I would encourage working on cardio and endurance along with good core flexibility and strength. More guys my age have to drop out of tournaments due to back, arm and foot problems during the rounds, so anything you can do to help mitigate falling apart will put you in good stead. As for plastics/brands, they are all so good so find the ones that talk to you the best and have fun. I hope that long winded answer helped. Let me know if I missed your question completely. Thanks!
These were all the 7 speeds that I had on hand that I have picked up over the years, I have too many to choose from as it is before I start buying more. There are so many great discs out there and I would love to try them all, but I am just a guy throwing what I can afford at the moment. Thanks for the question, and you are another player suggesting lonestar which means they are doing something right over there.
Pete shouldn't you also throw without a handful of disc in your other hand....I know i do the same thing but I do think it takes you out of your natural throw process
I throw so many discs both with my free hand empty and also while holding other discs that I haven't noticed a drastic difference, if I was being real scientific-like then I would throw one at a time. But, I can still tell the flight of the disc with or without other discs in my hand. Not the smartest.. but I never claimed to be a smart man. :D
@@ogdiscgolfer I've tried the Evader and Athena in this slot before. I was given an FD1 and I fell in love with the consistency and control I have with it. OI now bag 3. 1 C line (beefiest) a Casey S Line which is what you described you were looking for and a beat in s line that has no became my straight flier.
I know a lot of folks that really like the River, and I just threw the Rhythm for the first time when I "borrowed" my buddies Gyro box. I think the River is a 7 glide? Thanks!
The crave has taken my 7 speed spot even though it's a 6.5. I just got a glow drift in a gyro box today super stoked to try it lol but def try a crave. Thanks for the video
I love the Crave and have it as a separate category outside this group, it is a staple in the bag. :) Thanks
Great Ideas Pete
Thanks 👍

That makes perfect sense... I have thrown Teebirds for so long I don't notice the rim that much, but it would definitely have an impact. Thanks!
The Innova Hawkeye won the 7speed slot in my bag. Would definitely recommend it over the TeeBird. The Halo Hawkeye is nice and stable
Thanks I haven't thrown it, so I will add it to the list!

I know, the struggle is real! I could have a whole bag of 7 speeds!

Another red-green colorblind here. Those new Gregg Barsby eagles are bright neon yellow and fly very predictably
Yes, that Eagle was in the used bin and so I grabbed it... but I am definitely keeping an eye out for some brighter ones.
Explorer…..my favorite mid-range flex forehand disc. Teebird is my mid-range flat to fade forehand disc.
Backhand mid-range Mako3 is the king.
Thank you for the video Pete.
I can definitely see those being clutch discs! thanks so much!
It’s been 50 all month here in Colorado
that is like summertime right?

Thanks for that I'll keep an eye out for those! I am in Birmingham... grew up in Augusta, GA

I really like MVP mids, but will have to look at more Latitude... thanks
That troll flys amazing
I know I was impressed with how straight it flew! :D
Troll is a winner!
I agree!

Hey, so I checked and the Eagle is a 7 4 -1 3... so I was both right and wrong at the same time. :D Cheers!
Thank you for the tips. Any idea what the distance is from the island to number five basket?
around 225 ft

My problem is I can’t make more than 40 throws at a time before my arm gives out
Definitely have to keep an eye out on your pitch count and don't overdo it!
Curious why you didn’t try 7 speed discs from different manufacturers? Pick up a Lonestar Frio
These were all the 7 speeds that I had on hand that I have picked up over the years, I have too many to choose from as it is before I start buying more. There’s a funny American Dad episode about Mr Pibb (season 2 episode 12).
Thanks I will have to check it out! :D

fd1 is money
What do you like about the F1, I have never thrown it. Thanks!

River & Rhythm are the best 7 speeds
I know a lot of folks that really like the River, and I just threw the Rhythm for the first time when I "borrowed" my buddies Gyro box. I think the River is a 7 glide? Thanks!
I also use and like the River
