Nicu nurse here....William is your pump, you should only pump if you are engorged and only for comfort. However, if you want milk for the future pumping will increase your supply. First 10-14 days your milk is on auto pilot then it becomes more supply & demand. Let him nurse when he wants.

Tiff, a tip for soreness, take some pads, unfold them and put witch hazel on them then fold them back shut and store in the freezer. Very soothing and helps with inflammation.
Pure lanolin which you can get from your pharmacy is good for cracked nipples or as a preventative for cracked nipples. You don’t even have to wash it off before nursing.
Thoughts on pumping... Remember you're feeding the baby and not the freezer. Having extra milk is helpful but if you stay around your baby all the time then don't need much extra milk. Don't stress out with pumping.

Some of us didn't have a husband like Lawson, some of us actually had a man who WORKED and wasn't home, not to mention some of our husbands didn't help so we had to do everything outselves so therefore some of us...well, me, didn't have time to lay around all day and stare and my kids, I had work to do, I had laundry to do and bottles to wash and supper to fix and things to do to make a house run efficiently...get it? Not to mention, I'm not a 'lay around and stare at the baby' kind of person. I didn't then nor do I now lay around all day and do nothing. Do you understand, can you comprehend? It does fade, just like the so called honeymoon phase of a marriage, the baby phase will fade and reality will set in...and that is fact.

I was definitely a Daddy's girl! 🩷 His 86th birthday was yesterday. His 19th birthday in heaven, my Mom and my only child (a daughter) that would've been 35. She was stillborn at 37 weeks. Tiff, you're a wonderful Mom. You were a champion during labor! Cherish all these moments that you get to lay there watching him sleep! He is a cutie pie! Lawson is a wonderful Dad! I can wholeheartedly agree. I nursed my 9 babies without pumping, but maybe a few times, and that was only when I had to be out. Even then, my babies were older. Because I was home all day, I chose not to pump, and that worked for me. I can't speak for others.

I wouldn’t pump at all. I nursed my 2 daughters for at least 3 yrs and never pumped. Also, certain foods can affect your milk supply or upset his tummy…you’re doing great!
I pumped exclusively for 4 of my children for a year each. It was more comfortable, and I got help at night and during the day when i needed sleep. It’s a blessing to have pumps. Whatever YOU decide, is the right decision. ❤️

Sweet kids, pumping at this early early stage isn’t required or of benefit to baby. William is THE best most efficient pump you could ever have. His sucking does more than feed him, it stimulates your supply, helps involute your uterus, keeps your nipples healthy, provides him with the best bonding experience and you too. There is no pump that can do all that. Also please dont wake him to feed him once he’s back to birthweight and charging forward. He knows when he’s hungry he won’t let you ignore him when he is and he feeds much more efficiently when he’s hungry. Demand breastfeeding can understandable induce anxiety in first time mothers, you worry when they sleep a lot then worry when they want 3 feeds in 3 hours. You may swing between all that daily, you have milk, it’s there, it’s beautiful and William will adjust supply and demand all by himself. Trust the process, God created it ❤👶🏻
Breastfeeding advice I have is feed him as needed; every baby eats differently (I breastfeed 3 babies until they were a 1 yr old) Just get to know his feeding habits and adjust as you see necessary for your sanity. I suggest to feed him as necessary I don’t recommend pumping right away unless you feel your supply running low. Eat well (the more you eat healthy foods the more you produce milk) and Drink plenty of water and then drink some more. 😊 my little ones ate well but they all adjusted to my schedule as they had to (I worked full time at the time) then my last one was with me as I was a stay at home mom and that breast feeding journey was much more pleasant and enjoyable since there was less stress and more skin to skin time. One thing I found comfortable to sit on after my first baby was the nursing pillow. The one shaped like a ‘c’ and wraps around your waist. I couldn’t stand the pressure of sitting and that helped tremendously!! Make sure to nap and rest when he is!! Housework will always be there but it’s so important for you to heal and be healthy!! He is adorable!!

I recommend pumping after you breastfeed because at first you have so much they don’t consume all of it that way you can start a freezer stash. But breastfeeding frequently is the best option.
When my babies were newborn I noticed if they were around a lot of people and noise during the day they would cry and have a melt down at night. I realized they seemed asleep that day but they were aware of the activity. They must have been stressed. You can try having them nap in a quiet place during the day to see if they sleep better in the quiet of night. You all need to get your sleep, especially to keep up your milk supply.😊

There is no pump that can do all that. Also please dont wake him to feed him once he’s back to birthweight and charging forward. He knows when he’s hungry
he won’t let you ignore him when he is and he feeds much more efficiently when he’s hungry. Demand breastfeeding can understandable induce anxiety in first time mothers, you worry when they sleep a lot then worry when they want 3 feeds in 3 hours. You may swing between all that daily, you have milk, it’s there, it’s beautiful and William will adjust supply and demand all by himself. Trust the process, God created it ❤👶🏻
Breastfeeding advice I have is feed him as needed; every baby eats differently (I breastfeed 3 babies until they were a 1 yr old) Just get to know his feeding habits and adjust as you see necessary for your sanity. I suggest to feed him as necessary I don’t recommend pumping right away unless you feel your supply running low. Eat well (the more you eat healthy foods the more you produce milk) and Drink plenty of water and then drink some more. 😊 my little ones ate well but they all adjusted to my schedule as they had to (I worked full time at the time) then my last one was with me as I was a stay at home mom and that breast feeding journey was much more pleasant and enjoyable since there was less stress and more skin to skin time. One thing I found comfortable to sit on after my first baby was the nursing pillow. The one shaped like a ‘c’ and wraps around your waist. I couldn’t stand the pressure of sitting and that helped tremendously!! Make sure to nap and rest when he is!! Housework will always be there but it’s so important for you to heal and be healthy!! He is adorable!!

I recommend pumping after you breastfeed because at first you have so much they don’t consume all of it that way you can start a freezer stash. But breastfeeding frequently is the best option.
Tiffany did pump and freeze it. So she would have Colostrum for the baby.

When my babies were newborn I noticed if they were around a lot of people and noise during the day they would cry and have a melt down at night. I realized they seemed asleep that day but they were aware of the activity. They must have been stressed. You can try having them nap in a quiet place during the day to see if they sleep better in the quiet of night. You all need to get your sleep, especially to keep up your milk supply.😊
