    Your comment that the pack doesn't need to be personal item size the whole trip is spot on. Wearing bulky items works to get on the plane but it is important to be able to fit those things in the pack later. You dont want to wear your bulkiest clothes the entire trip because you have no place to put them.

    Love these packing demonstrations! It's much more helpful to get an idea of what can reasonably fit in these bags. I would just like to see if you could squeeze the fully packed expanded bag in the wooden box you built. Just to see if it could compress in there.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That's a good idea, I should have used the box! When I had it fully packed in expanded mode it was almost 10" and the box is 8" depth. Mine wasn't jam packed full and there were a lot of clothes, so I imagine I could have stuffed it in the box if I tried.

    I have traveled alot. Two of my favorite items are the ScottVest for winter and the Ex-officio Vest for all other times. Each has 11 pockets and it makes it so convenient to carry all my small items, phone, wallet, passport,, documents, pen, glasses, earphones, phone charger, hand sanitizer, etc. Going thru TSA is a breeze. Just put the vest in the bin and put it back on on the other side. I went thru TSA in NYC and Israel.....no problems. When site seeing. I just wear the vest and carry a water bottle sling, cross body. No more opportunities for pick-pockets. Just a note for the ScottVest you might have to go up a size.

    • @OneBagTravels

      Good advice, I haven't tried out the ScottVest yet, seems like maybe I should.

    I used this for an overnight business trip via plane this week. It was excellent. Laptop setup was perfect for my Macbook and a notebook. Packed a pair of sandals in the mesh pocket and folded dress pants and a blazer in the lid (unexpanded mode). I am a petite woman though, not sure a man's blazer would survive being squished into that lid compartment.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nice thanks for sharing and yeah, size of blazer probably makes a difference how squished it would be.

    I have more bags for more different types of travel than any person should... in the past I even kept them in the attic, sometimes half packed for different types of travel, from backpacking to jetting around.. weekends and extended trips...
    I've always been on the fence with the Osprey daylite series since I never committed to the pack that fits on the back of my Porter 46... frankly I think that's enough pack!. But after seeing your review I'm going to look at this is an option for short trips in the future. When I lived in Europe I often flew on the budget airlines that limited you to one personal item and in the future I might lift use this for that. But meanwhile I think it could also be a great bag for quick trips on Amtrak, car, Etc. Time to use my REI coupon (!?)
    Thanks again for another great video .. and as someone who's followed you for some time I want to thank you for finally putting your flip-flops in a plastic bag. Pet peeve of mine! Argh!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Haha, I put the sandals in a bag when I travel, but I don't think about it when I'm doing the videos 😆
      I do like this little pack, it's a great personal item weekender, and completely different than the other packs in the Daylite series. Osprey sorts their bags by the fabric (Daylite, Arcane, Transporter) not the bag type. I don't understant it, but in the "Daylite" series they have bags ranging from a 2L waist pack, to an 85L rolling luggage.
      Thanks for watching, hopefully you love this pack if you end up getting one =)

    Thanks for the excellent video! I've been on the fence about this bag for a few months now but this might just have convinced me even though there are some improvements that could be made. Seems like it could be my one bag for everything, instead of having a 28L and a 35L like I have now depending on the trip.

  • @yeeisme
    @yeeisme 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have the Daylite Expandable 26+6 but I think they are also counting the pockets into that 26L.
    I have a smaller 22L bag that can actually pack way more than the Daylite even with the expansion.
    So I think for my one bag travel I am looking at the new ULA Dragonfly because I also like the more hiker aesthetic.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Dragonfly is good and holds way more than it looks like it would. 26+6 is a great pack, but I agree it seems a little light on the volume sometimes.

    Between the ULA Dragonfly and this pack, which carries better on a full day of exploring between hotels? My #1 criteria is carry comfort. I do a lot of one bag travel where I’m out exploring between hotels so I need a pack that carries comfortably for several hours at a time.

    • @Helloelloelloello

      I returned my Osprey Daylite Expandable Pack. It fit well (I am short) but the straps were irritating, the expansion portion would have been more helpful to me if it expanded the main compartment, and I didn't like the stiffness and lack of breathability in the front pocket. I also didn't like that the laptop zipper just goes to the main compartment. Plus it just had quite a bit of padding that I didn't need and I preferred to have more packing space. But the overall size was nice. I am very interested in the Dragonfly and am hoping to nail down my list of customizations to order this week.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If #1 criteria is carry comfort I'd go with the ULA Dragonfly. Daylite expandable is a good all around personal item pack, but comfort seems to be an issue for some people.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That front pocket is frustrating. It would be so much more useful if it was mesh, or expandable. I've heard mixed reviews on the carry comfort of the Daylite 🤷‍♂️

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a great pack, it's more minimalist than the Aion, but I like the design of the Aion much better, it's just such a nice looking pack and I think it would work better as an EDC. For a beach bag I like the Osprey Daylite duffel which I use mostly as a gym bag.

  • @mdubb4855

    i’ve had good luck with hip packs - which seem to get overlooked on the hip in original design mode, but get busted in sling mode.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm old enough now that I've seen hip packs come and go out of fashion twice now! 😆 I'm testing this Thule Aion pack right now, you can buy the hip pack separately and it slides into the back padding so you can use it as a hip belt with the backpack, but take it out and carry it separately. Genius! Unfortunately they were sold out of the hip pack so I just have the backpack, but I'll try it out when they get it back in stock.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a great bag so I'm not surprised. I haven't been following it but it is often out of stock. I'd sign up for alerts so Osprey can let you know when a shipment comes in so you have an opportunity to buy it right when it is available.. ULA, Hemiplanet etc. do this, where they notify people of a new stock of bags and they sometimes sell out in a matter of days.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are both great bags, but for different reasons. Arcane is good if you want a simple duffle style design, holds lots of stuff, lightweight. But if you like the clamshell style and more organization, then the 26+6 is better.

    I am curious with the expandable portion of the 26 plus 6, can you pack it with something squishable and then zip it down, essentially turning the expansion into a compression cube?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Heck yeah you could do that. It's basically just a big compression/expansion packing cube. However because it is large, your compression is going to be more limited than a smaller packing cube, because it can puff up more in the middle.

    Are there any other options like this which are expandable, open up fully either clamshell or wide open like the farpoint and can be used as a everyday bad for work. This bag seems really ideal with the capacity and the way it opens but I need a admin area to store notepad, pens, etc.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There aren't a lot of options for expandable packs that meet those criteria, Knackpack V2 is expandable with a large compartment, also Nomatic Navigator. Not expandable, but check out the Aer Travel Pack 2 Small, Pacsafe Venturesafe X40 or EXP, Deuter Aviant Carry On Pro, Granite Gear Crosstrek. Or maybe something with a panel style opening would work, like the Able Carry Max or Evergoods CPL.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Porter feels bigger and I think is easier to pack. 26+6 is a great little bag that works as a personal item. I think it works better at the smaller 26 volume, it works fine expanded but the bag is small so it feels very fat in that mode, fine for an occasional expansion, but I wouldn't want that to be my default. If you think you can pack that small the 26+6 is great, if not then Porter may be better.
