      it would be nice to see the following movie showing how much the green energy mania actually costs, including all government subsidies. This video should show you the facts of that:
      - building a wind power plant offshore costs about 3-3.5 times more than a clean coal power plant of the same capacity able produce electricity 24 hours a day, not only when it blows.
      - each megawatt of a wind turbine built on the land uses 870 cubic meters of concrete and 460 tons of steel. - for this purpose, the gas power plant uses 27 cubic meters of concrete and 3.3 tones of steel.
      - China in 2020 launched new coal-fired power plants with a capacity equal to all currently existing coal-fired power plants around the world. So, if green energy is so cheap and good and China is a major mass producer of wind generators and solar panels - why are they still building coal plants?

Thirdly, Hillary was 6% ahead until those emails were released, even 'if' Putin did not release these, then it still cost her the election, emails, which she had already been investigated and there was nothing incriminating within.

Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed; everything else is public relations - George Orwell. If you think the emails were not incriminating, why are you blaming a journalist for Trump winning and Clinton losing? The people voted Trump in as Clinton would be more of the same neo-liberal governance which has decimated the middle, working and lower classes. Biden is in, now. How is that working out? “One of the most dangerous things right now is the illusion that alternative technologies like solar and wind are somehow different from fossil fuels."

    Context: I liked the movie, think it raises important questions and am dead set against it being censored. But this podcast seems pretty weak to me. Sure, discuss the case against censorship in all forms. That's an important topic. But then move on to some of the critiques of the movie and let us hear Moore's rebuttal. Moore says: "If we got a fact wrong, tell us. We'll fix it." Scientists have been telling you, Michael, that the movie has many facts wrong (not opinions; numbers). Have you fixed or promised to fix any of them? Maybe Moore has responded in detail elsewhere to such critiques, but I haven't found where. I hoped he might do so here, but instead Matt and Katie treated him like some sort of royalty. This was pretty disappointing.

Meanwhile, I've seen a lot of criticisms of the movie's points that go way beyond single line's defenses of it, the movie just gets basic things very very wrong, and I knew a lot of them from the get go while I was watching it, where I was like "Ok, I know this is just not true, why are they saying this?", and all of this is extremely disappointing.
      Censoring the movie is a really bad move from whomever it was, it paints the moviemakers as rebellious firecrackers who got into something that the powers that be don't want you to know, etc., and that may even be true, at least partially, but that does not prove the movie is correct at all, it only proves it really pissed a lot of people who have some power. Now, I am all about pissing powerful people off, but I have way more allegiance to something called TRUTH. And this movie just fails at that criteria. Solar panels are more efficient now. It's still not nearly enough to save us. Indeed, it's all but certain that we can't come up with technological solutions that will allow us to sustain a human population of tens of billions (or even the multiple billions we have now). Limiting the human population to under 1 billion is ***inevitable*** (whether desirable or not from any given viewpoint), because it's the only sustainable course - the only question is whether we get there by way of global resource wars (pandemics, etc.), which will most certainly kill the marginalized at much higher rates than the privileged (so the burying one's head in the sand and wishing for a technological miracle is actually incredible racist and classist), or through something like voluntary reproduction limiting, which isn't a genocidal approach.
      Until we can and DO (that's important, because many of the better technologies aren't in widespread use or even brought to market at all - they're still speculative) make our renewable energy generators from ONLY renewable energy, none of it is actually renewable, which is the central point being made. Vast numbers of people are in complete denial because they can't face the collapse of advanced capitalist society, but that doesn't make it any less real.

    Anybody over the age of 45 is guilty of letting this happen? Excuse me, but I am 69 years old and I was in college when all of this began. Does any one remember "Silent Spring"? Did that alarmist environmental message come to pass? What about "The Population Explosion"? Both of those books were required reading in my freshman year. And what about "Growing Up Absurd" and "The Greening of America"? All of those books were radical and revolutionary, but they did have a kernel of truth that did have some positive effects on our laws and our society. We were young radicals and revolutionaries, but we were not the ones who banned DDT. It was banned because its harmful effects on the environment were scientifically recognized. Our movement in the 60's was eventually discredited because of the autocratic and violent tactics of leftists like the Weather Underground, the Students for a Democratic Society, the Black Panthers, the Symbionese Liberation Movement, the Unabomber, and others.
    All of these groups were rightfully discredited as terrorist organizations, and some of their leaders and members were convicted of crimes and went to jail, but they have not gone away. In fact they have increased their power and influence, especially in the news media and our school systems and our institutions of higher education. Scientific theories (unproven theories, not scientific laws of nature) have been politicized and weaponized to create an agenda of fear, repression, assault on free speech, and an attempt to destroy our constitution and the founding principles of our nation, namely that we were endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
    Wake up America. Remember that we were founded by patriots who sacrificed all for the sake of liberty, the first nation to have taken that stand, against all odds.
    Remember that our Creator is the author of our faith and liberty, the way and the truth as He promised, and He will not use fear and deception to lead us. He will ultimately destroy the lie and the liar. Stand strong.

These two guys are giants of the left but neither seems able to put aside their own personal petty squabbling to join together in the creation of a viable alternative party. Both Nader and Moore are not coming together for the people. Why isn't obvious to everyone seeing this documentary that every single thing mentioned makes absolute sense, no matter how little physics you know?
    Why isn't it obvious that an indy car's engine is as efficient as they get, and if you were to burn coal 500mi away to charge an electric motor to power an equal performance vehicle as an Indy car, you would waste multiples of "fossil fuel" to do so? Why is it a green solution to pollute the area of the power plant but keep a tiny little area (a city) clear of "carbon" oxides?
    Wind generators have been around for decades. Just find ONE old one still functional. Find one solar panel that is 10yo and is still charging. None of this crap was ever a true solution, unless you are a camper 400mi away from a fuel station or on a cruising sailboat.
    Powering this lifestyle is what is absolutely unsustainable, and it has nothing to do with "technology" and innovation, it has to do with theoretical physics and environmental sciences. It is not possible. It is a short lived party at the cost of the entire ecosystem.
    He is right, the advocates of electric powered crap by alternative energy sources are believers of a religion, based on myths and industrial hype.
    I was disappointed he didn't say anything about the worst of all, bio-fuels. Massive deforestation (tropical rain forests) is currently going on to substitute huge industrial monoculture of non-eatable crops used to produce bio-fuels. It is crazy!

      If you give people a choice between a comfortable lie and an uncomfortable truth, most will choose to believe the comfortable lie. This is human nature. It's always been the left's enormous Achilles's heel: denying human nature exists. Then the left scratches its head and wonders, "why don't people do what's in their best interest??... well, we just need to shout louder!" Most people are not lefty or liberal, they're fairly conservative: they value stability and consistency in their lives, their lifestyles and community. Human nature is essentially that of hunter-gatherers. 95% of human history was PRE-civilization. 99.9% of human history was PRE-industrial revolution. And the left fantasizes that somehow we have suddenly evolved into an enlightened, rational species. We are not. Human nature is incapable of dealing with this crisis. Most people do not care. Most people avoid reality because it's too disturbing. Most so-called environmentalists are using environmentalism as a coping and avoidance mechanism. How many "environmentalists" do you see with iPhones and MacBooks? They want to continue their lifestyles, changing nothing, and they need to rationalize it. Environmentalism lets them do that.

This film raises legitimate questions, points worth further investigation...When "experts" ,"professionals", and/or "technocrats" decide who can participate in what should be an open and free market of ideas. Red flags go up. I am constantly mislead and lied to from to many sources to mention here, but it is ACCESS to information that gives me the chance to navigate through the morass and come to my own conclusions. If there is misinformation or outright lies then we should expose that with better facts and arguments and let that stand. blocking or censoring discourse is a method used by tyrants who more often than not have something to hide. I think the reason why we are seeing more people want to cancel people and censor content is because no one is being taught how to have a logical debate anymore. People are acting and arguing based on emotion and doing anything they can to make sure their team wins, even if they have to cheat to do so. People are more interesting in winning than in discovering the truth, which is why their main arguments are usually person attacks (ad hominem arguments) and strongly insisting that something must be true because look at all these other people who also believe it (appeal to authority and bandwagon arguments). This is the thing, other than money in politics and everywhere else, that is ruining our entire political system and ultimately our ability to avoid going extinct.

    Michael Moore's claim that "Ralph Nader attacked the film" is a distortion. If you go to the NYT article about this, it explains Nader's position.
    'But since the film came out last month, Mr. Nader has written Mr. Moore to demand a $30,000 payment for financial and material support contributed to projects of Mr. Moore; Mr. Nader said the money would go to a nonprofit group that supports journalistic projects. ''I haven't seen the film, and my letter had nothing to do with its content,'' Mr. Nader said. ''I hear it's a pretty good satire of G.M., and I've got no problem with that.'''
    'Mr. Nader said he asked for the $30,000 on behalf of Essential Information, a nonprofit group based in Washington that he helped found for journalistic projects. He said the group had given Mr. Moore money for a newsletter that was abandoned so he could work on the film.'

    This is a confusing film. For example, released in 2020, they used the state of solar from a decade ago as reference to the state of renewable energy today. And in the end said basically "use plentiful coal." Just bizarre. Fossil fuel companies couldn't have said it better.

  • @TobyKinkaid11
    @TobyKinkaid11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Michael Moore cannot claim "speaking the truth." The film is full of half-truths, and outright misinformation. This film doesn't understand the topic it seeks to address. Humans use energy 24/7. Renewables, (solar/wind) are intermittent. There has to be an "energy storage" component to a clean energy system. The film bemoans the use of "fossil fuels" (which are acting as the battery in the system), but it doesn't have to be - there are better batteries than fossil fuels: it's called Renewable Hydrogen. Totally unknown to these three from Michigan. Moore's film concludes since they never interviewed anyone with a real solution, one must not exist? What kind of logic is that? If you're not willing to ask basic questions... such as "What's the best battery?"... or "What's the best fuel"... or, "Is there a way to live energy rich without harming the environment?"... if you're not willing to ask real questions, you'll never find real answers. Research Renewable Hydrogen.
    This film should have been taken down because it's the lowest level of propaganda. Chalk full of misunderstanding. Moore seems unwilling to acknowledge that Capitalism is only as ethical as its practice. Just because you see corruption everywhere, doesn't mean capitalism is itself evil. If Moore doesn't like the companies he sees... then form one which acts ethically. Michael Moore claims to be an Environmentalist, but in my view, a true Environmentalist seeks solutions. Michael Moore seeks no solution. Not even mentioned in over 1 hour and 40 minutes of showing how Not to do something, the film doesn't even ask "is there a better way?" Worst so called "documentary" I've ever seen. Next time, try a little harder. By the way, the film isn't dangerous as you claim, it's amateurish.

      @TobyKinkaid11 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaeledwards7967 No, you're missing the point of my comment. Michael Moore comes to the conclusion everyone should use Less toxic fuels. That's no solution. The only real solution is to Not use toxic fuels at all. That's the crime of this film. I'm tired of large old white men telling the world they should use less energy. How about getting the energy right, so that all people can live energy rich? This can only happen when we go from "Carbon" based energy to "Water based" energy. Do your homework.

Unless you were a child everyone already understands that old technology will have to be used to create new tech during the transition phase. He did not get into specific nitty gritty of this. He said it's not all new tech so I guess population control it is. Which is also a racist western fairytale. 3billion poor people barely use any energy. One of the best interviews I’ve heard on free speech and censorship. I am on the other side of Michael Moore politically, and actually disagree with his conclusions in the movie, which I watched and loved. But I am 100% behind him speaking his mind. Love that he wants to engage in debate because that is what moves us forward as a society. Our culture (on both sides) has changed from debating ideas to suppressing those that don’t agree with our opinion. Michael Moore seems like a guy I could sit down and have a great, long conversation with, exchange good ideas, walk away disagreeing on most ideas, but building small bridges and being better for the discussion.
