Thanks for reaching out! A month out from your release is a great best practice for pitching. Much further out, and there’s a chance the curators may not even listen to the track without a recent opportunity to place it. If you need to pitch your song and it’s not yet available on your DSP for listening, I’ve found that using SoundCloud links works really well for unreleased tracks. You can set up a hidden page on your personal website that links to the SoundCloud track or place the link directly in your press release to playlist curators. SoundCloud links are especially helpful because curators are familiar with reviewing them, and you can still maintain good sound quality. Also, make sure you provide them with a compelling story or hook about your release, which can help set it apart from the hundreds of submissions they receive.
