Natsuki's dad said he wanted her to have a better life than he did, implying that they're living beyond their means (i.e. in debt). This would explain the fancy furniture in Natsuki's room as well as both of their scrawny, malnourished appearances; her dad from constantly drinking and being generally broken up over his wife's death and Natsuki due to her father's negligence and her own ignorance about cooking and proper nutrition. It's a complex, multifaceted situation and that reflects positively on the you.
This is phenomenal, thank you.
If this was a proper dating sim game, one of the options as the MC should be to learn how to cook and prepare meals for Natsuki and her father over at their house when you have the time. Perhaps create a recipe book together and teach both Natsuki and Dadsuki how to cook? It's just a small step toward repairing their relationship, but it's a start.

It's nice seeing families portrayed like this, since it both humanizes the family itself (making it seem more real) and presents ways the family can be fixed and improved on beyond "We've come to take your daughter away". There are so, so many things you did right in this mod (coming from a similar household myself). The fear, the struggle to express love properly, the over-protectiveness, the "respect" and the control. But at the same time, it shows how much the father really does love Natsuki, without completely redempting him and still showing taht it is absoulutely not ok to raise a child like this. Wonderful work!

I've played the game its scary
natsuki herself never actually says he dad hits her, that was only monika. In a poem Natuski wrote, i think its implied more that her dad just doesn't have the time or energy to care for her properly, and just makes really strict rules that she might make a bigger deal out of than it is sometimes.
I considered that when writing this
Crystal Clod arc 2 seems like Monika enhance it for her dad to start hitting her
Natsuki at one point says 'My Dad would Beat the shit out of me if he knew' in weird text. Not sure whether that too is done by Monika but yeah..
How I understood the game was that each character had a complex sheet of different mood related stats such as depression, happiness, abuse, affection, love etc. And for Sayori Monika just cranked the depression/suicidal thoughts to 100, same kind of thing for Yuri except she cranked her craziness/obsessiveness to 100. However for Natsuki, Monika seemed to make a lot more subtle changes such as influencing her story to be that her dad was abusing her. This would also explain why she didn't technically kill Natsuki in the end and instead just deleted her.
I think in the good ending none of the negativity from the game is present, Sayori doesn't suffer from depression, Yuri is not obsessive or psychotic and Natsuki is not being abused or malnourished and instead is just short and probably argues with her dad.
But her poem did say, "I like it when papa is too tired to do anything," or something along those lines.

It's nice to see that you made Natsuki's dad a human being with human flaws...and if I can get personal, my heart got wrenched listening to him about working and independence.
My dad and mom both worked their asses off to get me and the rest of my family where we are today. He worked odd jobs left and right, even after college, until he got into administration. She took three buses starting at four in the morning just to go to medical school, and still had a ton of housework and family ordeals back home. He's 60 now and she's 50 now.
Now my older brother is in the army, and my younger is the brightest I've seen him ever since he started high school.
And as for me, I'm nobody. I've had chances and wasted them. And it's demotivating to know that I have. Even in passing and even in joking, it hurts to be reminded.
And hearing Natsuki's dad talk about making mistakes reminds me a lot of my mom. Even now she never stops telling me to try harder, to go do more with myself. And she's not wrong. But it's really hard for me. And even if she goes overboard with reminding me in whatever way she reminds me, she has every reason to do so.
Natsuki's dad was right--spending too much time in the shade is gonna leave you with regrets. And I'm living proof.
As I write this, it's been a long day for me. Things have boiled over and now I'm venting here, and I never vent this hard, if at all.
But it's fine. Believe me when I tell you that things aren't the greatest, but that it's fine. Nothing as far as I know is happening that's worth reporting to the police--no one is getting hit, no blood is being spilled, and no one is dying.

My family never changes because my dad always smokes and gets angry & depressed for no reason and my mom always gets angry over everything. I always tell my dad to get a fucking job but he never listens to me because he always sits on his ass and does nothing. NOTHING. And besides the point my mom is always angry at me over nothing just because i complain too much. Plus my sisters don't care about me and my dad always hits me every FUCKING time because i make mistakes. Horrible mistakes. I wish i could kill him but i can't because my mom will scream and my grandpa will call the police and arrest me for murder. I wish someone would talk to me so i can feel better. If not then i will be okay because will always be best buds for life.

It’s clear that they are both doing something wrong, but they keep blaming it on each other so they can hide from their own responsibilities. Natsuki’s father is shying away from his responsibility to take care of Natsuki, whereas Natsuki isn’t taking the opportunity to take care of herself. Both of them obviously need to see that there are things that they could do to stop all of this nonsense and start repairing the relationship they have with each other. If they would listen to each other and find out themselves what they were doing wrong, it could lead to a better relationship between them, and ultimately allow them to have better relationships with others outside of their home.
