Thanks for giving a shoutout to Midnight! I love how that episode is structured like a one scene, one act play, with all the tension that comes from an unseen enemy. Great list overall!

Bit of a correction: the reason the TARDIS interior was so dark in Battlefield was actually because the walls of the set had warped in between Seasons.

Back when Doctor Who was on Netflix, I sorta/kinda started with The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. However, The Eleventh Hour really won me over and the 11th Doctor really feels like my first and my favorite Doctor. The episode takes you on a wild ride. It's so cool!

My beginning as a Doctor Who fan was kind of like that, only with the 12th Doctor. BBC America was marathoning Doctor Who in the lead-up to season 9, and they showed some of the greatest hits of David Tennant and Matt Smith's eras. Those episodes had me pretty much hooked already and gave me some helpful context, but when the marathon got to Deep Breath and the rest of the Peter Capaldi episodes that existed at the time, it became an even more special experience for me. Getting to know the 12th Doctor from the beginning of his era, as well as how the stories had both him and Clara struggling to get used to how different he was from the previous few, particularly endeared me to this Doctor and his journey. For all the ups and downs of his three seasons, 12 is still my personal favorite.

Tardis personification is an idea that I’m amazed wasn’t done sooner. I’ll have to see that one for myself. Also; I still have “Unlimited rice pudding” playing on loop in my head.

I think my favorite has to be Rose, it's not bombastic and the effects are kinda terrible but it's the episode that made me get into Doctor Who, 9 was charming and charismatic and manic in his time, creating some of the funniest lines and interactions with my favorite Companion, Rose Tyler (hell I named myself after her when I transitioned) who bounces off the Doctor beautifully, and watching these two meet was a joy. Not to mention how good it was while effectively being a pilot, a test to see if Doctor Who could survive the modern age , and considering the fact that episode was 18 years ago I'd say it was a success. Plus it gave me a mild phobia of mannequins which not a lot of series can do so for all those reasons Rose has got to be my favorite episode

Hey less than stellar special effects are never gonna lessen a Doctor Who story in my eyes. This is a great choice! After all without this episode, Doctor Who wouldn't have had the comeback it did. And just like with me and The Eleventh Hour, you never forget your first episode.
Thanks for reminiscing and commenting! It was wonderful.
