I've worked in the service industry for a while, and I can tell you that it is really horrible. Overworked, underpaid, rude customers, these are all true. Whenever a polite customer greets me with friendliness, it really lights up my day. Nowadays I treat waiters and those alike with my best attitude, because most of them deserved it.

Okay from my own experience working as a waiter. The only place that appreciates me are the foreign restaurants thaf opened in Malaysia. I used to work as a waiter in many Malaysian restaurants and they always treat me like shit. I work overtime during the holidays and only get paid half of what I deserve because "Kami tidak mau kamu spend duit kamu habis terus" like I don't have collage to pay. On top of that I always getting bullied by the chef. Whenever I asked for my staff meal they always purposely put stuff I allergic to on to my food then throw it at my face as a joke since that "what they do to new worker". There's other horrible stuff but I won't talk a lot about those. But then I transferred working at a foreign Japanese restaurant that have recently opened in my area and I tell you not the Japanese people treat me better than my own people. I don't know if other Malaysian restaurants does this but I can't keep my tips and they always take every penny possible because "kita bukan Amerika" but in this Japanese restaurant. I'm allowed to keep my tips but not only that, even though the restaurant serve non halal food and even though I'm a muslim. The boss make sure I'm fed so he get out on his own way to order me a food from a halal restaurant everytime. This actually make me think does Malaysia have the worst work environment as a waiter or do is it because I'm different? But non the less I'm actually quite happy working there. Now I'm no longer working there because I'm studying law at a university near my hometown but my boss actually offered me to comeback whenever I need a job to get some extra cash for school. In the end all I want to say is being a waiter suck unless you actually work at a place that actually appreciates your work

yea I feel u, I was cutting hair in a pod shop that also got a barbershop like shared type store if u get me and my indonesian/chinese coworker was so good he always get me lunch or buy me a drink when I don't even ask me, would cut my hair for free do everything like a brother but my malay boss was such a pain bro, sometimes customers don't pay for a haircut or forget money and usually im kind to them and let them go off or just cut their hair anyways unless its second time already but my boss will get so angry and make me pay the difference from my own pocket for a customer who said they dont have money after I already cut them. and Its not like a resturaunt or other business where if they dont pay then u lose money like because you give a product. The only one who lost is me, because haircut only cost my time and skills. Good luck with study also bro
I remember when my McD wage was RM3.85/hr and that was in 2016 which was peak inflation, and yet still “enough” for certain families. Min wage today was so much better than used to be, but frankly it’s still hell here. I’m also large so naturally I’m the jack of all trades strongman. If it weren’t for the shit pay I’d be willing to work in fast food joints. They have my lifelong respect for the shit they had to deal with daily.
As someone who worked both in customer service desk support and as a waiter, it is not worth your sanity to talk to these customers. Best to work a job you won't have to deal with people. Singapore has the absolute worst co-workers, super competitive culture, and elitist too. Never working in customer service again. The amount of food wasted is enough to make you cry, at the end of the day is the worst, perfectly eatable food being tossed, sometimes no free food at all. That's the choice of working in Malaysia comfortably or working hard in Singapore Source: I live in Malaysia frugally with my dad and survive tooth and nail as a dropout working in Singapore while inflation makes even eating at mamaks expensive
I've worked at an internet cafe before, it's similar to your experience + cleaning up customers' happy juice on the pc, chair and table. Would not recommend.
No wonder the internet cafe that I frequent closed down a couple of months after one customer shit on the chair while playing pubg. Mau berak still playing till the whole internet cafe smell shit.
Working in food or service industry will sucks the soul out of you. I was there multiple times in my life. Don't do it, kids. It's not worth the stress.
McDonald's experience as a cashier/ice cream operator in bukit bintang golden triangle: A white girl demanded for a refund of vanilla cone after her kid came in crying because its melted 💀 Bro, how about try EATING your ice cream before it melts?
As a fellow Malaysian in his 20's & near 30's, I can't agree more on the absolute chaos & abuse us part timers (was a full timer but I gave up on being one after some betrayals) have to go through just to live for another day. As a fellow food industry worker tho, I 1000% agree that customers have not gotten a big 'A' in their Pendidikan Moral coz most of em have the audacity to speak about suffering while they r the one inflicting it on us food industrial workers. I pray that Malaysia will have a new change of pace on our food industry policy & worker rights to prevent anymore undeserving treatments.
I would rather work as a volunteer than work as a waiter. I had a terrible first job experience with my manager who thinks I slack off from my job (when the rest of the crew are also slacking off probably more than me). I have to stand up to 2 hours straight waiting outside of the darn restaurant attracting customers while the rest of the crew was on their phones. When I tried to do the same, too (had to check my messages cuz I was doing a group assignment at that time, and my manager scolded me. I only worked there for a month until my manager literally called me out for missing just one darn shift (I was fatigued af), calling me useless p.o.s in the group whilst being the "holy than thee" (f*ck hypocrite a**holes like this tbh). I only missed one fcking shift, ONE. While the rest are excused, even coming hours late into their shift. And I decided to quit all cuz of this clearly biased manager. Anf also , they won't give you the proper training and expect you to come and ask them to teach you. What are you guys? A bunch of NPCs standing idly just to give out tutorials? To this day, I am not returning to that fcking restaurant if I'm craving for some roasted chicken. I won't gonna dox the place, but if you're job hunting and expect to get equal treatment, just don't work in that particular roaster place in Paradigm Mall PJ.
bro this made my night LMAO i didnt work as waiter but my second job as barista feels like one, stupid "assistant manager" replaced the actual manager on day where i got sick asf and didnt let me leave until i was on the brink of passing out, i truly dont understand how they can be so inhuman
I work as a part time barista at Chagee and wow very stress wei customer all so impatient and rude and staff team very lazy and force you to do everything on your own while there is many orders to do and customer also very blind cannot see there are 100+ cups and they still order then cannot wait for more than 10 minutes
damm you ok mou? i work at black whale before and i was doing everything like cooking the boba/tea (basically all the ingredients/toppings, and i still need to serve, open store, wipe tables, take orders) i do all those by myself with 4 others employees in the store. maybe similar to you idk.

I would recommend working in Malay restaurants as a waiter. You will not regret the choice. Don't listen to the lazy Malays who never even done the work themselves. Trust me instead. I've worked in F&B industry with both Malay and non-Malay boss (stabak). The difference is astronomical.
@@Bajinowhere imo it's not that the Malays are lazy, it's just that a large amount of them are uneducated mess who waste their money everytime they got their paycheck. There are many good Malays but sadly most of the time the bad ones show up since they are the ones who don't know how to save money. Good customers never stay in your sight for long, only bad ones do.
Congrats bro on your 10k subs. Your video highlights what is wrong with Malaysian working environment especially in service sector. Imagine if no Malaysian ever went into the service sector, you can see all the job being filled with foreigners that most probably bring more problems than solutions. Keep up the good work.
This is the most relatable video omg Working as a underpaid waiter is one of the most annoying shit ever! ESPECIALLY in Malaysia, 99% of the restaurant owner is Chinese and they are cheap as fuck. I mean fucking cheap, I worked at a 酒楼for 6 hour and never ever get RM50, it's diabolical. anyway Congrats on hitting 10k bro 🎉
Bro once i accidentally show my rm1 tip to big bos he say "every tips should go to tip jar because at the end of the month they split it to salary" im like bro that shit never happen even my coworker and MANAGER say keep it if to yourself if u get tip. Learn from me if someone tip u its ur to take or just don't work as waiter. they say work as trashman is worst try work with talking trash let see who got it worst. Not all customers bad same goes to not all customers good.
I've learned and told others that if you get a tip, keep quiet about it. Thank the customer, put it in your pocket and say nothing to no one. Never brag about your tips to others unless the customer who gave you that tip specifically asked you to share it with other staff (and gave sufficient tip to actually be shared).
This. It makes you appreciate the workers and hopefully, if you have even the slightest bit of empathy, you will be a good customer after you've worked just one shift in the FnB industry.
Former waiter here. Years ago I was just starting out as a waiter as my first part-time job in a shopping mall (worst decision of my life), every day was literal hell on Earth cuz the amount of customer going in and go out. It made my leg get PTSD till this day. I worked only a week until I quit as the job's work environment was not suitable for me. Weekday (Mon to Fri) per hour was around RM7. Weekend (Sat & Sun) per hour was around RM8.50 as far as I can remember. The only good memory I remember from that job was that a nice Mak Cik gave me RM50 as a tip. I was sweeping the floor at that time and the nice Mak Cik walked up to me and pulled my hand just to give me the RM50. After that she smiled to me and rushed out of the restaurant. I haven't got the time to say thank you to her... I wish I did
I work at McD . Always there are customers who order ayam goreng order semua tight, like God brings Chicken to this world only with tight parts. When any other parts were given or served to customers, they show tantrum. Working at fastfood also changed my view on human and their behaviour. Human being if turned into a customer, they show their babi-ness.
As a Foodpanda rider, I respect barista more than myself. My job is literally just a riding passion or a hobby, companied with music, and maybe occasional near death experiences. But I rather that than doing customer services.
i understand your feeling i used to for catering at wedding. this makcik take a plate of nasi like she going to feed a whole family but she only ate 1 of 10 the plate, damn i feel vey guilty throw the nasi. As always at wedding we always serve kuih for the guest but it the most annoying thing they always drop it on the floor. i many time almots fall carry all the plate because i step on the kuih (sorry my english kinda sucks)
From my experience , yes being a waiter is like being a servant to a 5 year old child. There are moments when customers seem sure about their order, but once the food comes, they deny it. They’re also picky about their food, and I’m the one who gets blamed for it. I quit the job after two days of working and that was a happiest day of my life.
my friend once worked at a food stand in a shopping mall. the reason he quit was because one of the people he worked with grabbed a woman by the *you know what* and went "fuck that i'm looking for another job." he's still looking for a job to this day.
I work at a small restaurant with at most 5 person on the clock (1 cook, 1 drink station, 1 western station, 2 waiters). Because of how small our restaurant is, the worst thing that can happen to us is a large group giving different orders each person. The worst of this was just at the end of puasa, where 3 such groups came in all at once, each giving different orders per person. Even tho we had canceled take-aways, the service was still taking an hour because of how clogged up the kitchen. I had to politely kick out new customers because of that. And as for those who got caught up in the waiting hell, they had to wait until the ice in their drinks completely melt just to eat nasi goreng kampung. Most failed to wait for their meal.
And then there's smol percentage that they knew full well they couldn't even afford to eat at the places, decided to get sharing plate in the name of "diet" just simply to experience the have have feeling, lagi got audacity to look at us atas bawah, top notch kiasu
Bro I work as kitchen helper always thought "damn those waiter life is better than me" then I realize I'm still true but acknowledge their suffering now.
Bro, I haven't work at all. That's because I don't want to go through that grind that y'all mentioned but what I am supposed to do as I am just a business student entering degree life dammit. The fear of being eternal poverty is crazy and I am not smart as well.
I kerja dekat rosyam mart. And it's soo stupid the supervisor and manager. Manager skandal dgn pekerja bawah. What's worst that manager backs up that women yg dia skandal. He eventually naikkn gaji that women and naikkn pangkat. Maybe perempuan tu bgi dia @ss and free tidur that's why. Manager lama promise me i will become supervisor because i work situ for 4 years. Because the old supervisor is moving at new branch. Shortly after the old manager moved dekat new branch. This new manager (indian) skandal dgn staff bawah baru kerja 6 bulan. And what's fxcked up this indian manager skandal with this women naikkn dia pangkat instead of me. I kerja 4 tahun gaji basic 1500. Itu perempuan 6 bulan sebb berskandal 6 bulan work sudah gaji basic 2000.
For real ah, as a Chinese, mostly are the middle aged Chinese have the troubles. Once a family tried to confront me because they said they didnt get their change of 50 Sen (I did). 50 FREAKING SEN FOR 800 A MONTH
I worked at a small café where I'm the cashier, the washer, the cleaner, the waiter, all of it besides managing the money. My coworker were my supervisor and another coworker which most of the time my school friend and sometimes another quiet and nice girl just finished her diploma. I'm blessed with the environment really, very chill though the pay is really low 😅
Customers order fried chicken and ask for all tights . When any other parts were served, they show their tantrum, like fuck you ayam seekor tu daripada head to ass bukan semua tight lancow.
I literally just started my first day as a waiter at one of my church's member opened vegetarian restaurant. It is tiring, mostly physically. Gladly, I went there to work is to experience what it is like as a waiter only, not for long-term.
Wait until you become a primary school teacher. The stress is 10x worse than being a waitress(have experience in it). Your "customers" are your students and their parents. Entering a class with huge amount of students with attitude problems is seriously draining. Just trying to make them sit still and listen already takes up a huge chunk of you teaching time. Not watching your class closely during group work for just 1 or 2 minutes and one group already starting a fight. Each class you teach has a whatsapp group for teachers and parents to communicate and your whatsapp will always ring throughout the day(this is normalised after covid hit). On top of that, some parents even message you personally at 9 pm about something. There are even threaten calls from parents occasionally. Imagine trying your best to teach your students, only to receive threats. It's seriously disheartening. Not to mention the pile of clerical work and school programmes preperation. Whenever there are understanding students and parents who shows appreciation to our work, it really encourages us to keep going, even though every day is challenging.
This is my sister, I literally don't know how she survived - she have children and poor my anak buah, they always kena marah because she's just stressed from school
someone i know that's retired from their primary school as a teacher, new generation parent and children are privileged, cannot say their children is lazy and did not do home work (their parent is working on high paying job, so the children live like Queen or Kings), they want to sue the school, they have the smart to earn money and pay people to sue the school, but they are not smart enough to wrongly accuse and defame the school with feeling and no proof, they made multiple facebook post and local news paper, they quickly hide their tail when the police threaten them with saman on things that they did to defame the school as there's no proof and their story change every time, the village is also heard about this and everyone know about their doing, so those entitled family had to move out from the village because of how much of a clown they made themselves.
i work as a tuition teacher before when im 19(now im 20), i agreed to you 100%. can't believe how disrespectful these kids are. literally make wanna me die inside.
My brother worked at a boba shop and had a middle aged male customer who asked for a hot boba drink. My bro explaine that hot boba doesnt taste good and he told my bro to make it anyway. Then he proceeded to complain about how it tastes horrible
As a chinese and has did waiter jobs for few months, I agree wholeheartedly that chinese customers are the worst and thankfully I worked at a bar so there were more foreigners than local customers.
At least people are talking about doing part time jobs in MY. In the majority of SEA countries, I don't think that doing part time job can give you (as a student etc.) any meaningful amount of money.
I got my first part time job and unfortunately as a waiter but at that time it was the only job available and I had the worst experience cuz this place is pretty popular and have a high reputation but the workers are hella toxic and entitled, saying that everything I did was wrong even tho they never taught anything as they told me to “do it myself” They never teach me and asked me to watch them do it. I ended up quitting 2 months later after the manager said the most rudest stuff to me and when I said I quit she simply reply “ok” yes true story Tldr don’t be a waiter in Malaysia. Everyone here complaint just a lil thing they see.
True be in sg better pay 12sgd work 10 hour 120sgd one month 2k. I stay sg its the best job. No wonder i see those fast food worker 8rm in jb so sad face i ask for more drink as they fill half they give ice more i cant wait for it to melt so i just drink it ice was half the cup burger king at bigbox cb sohai type m
Worked for the service industry for more than 10 years. Yes it's bad, but I much prefer being physically exhausted as a waiter with RM1800 basic + OT than a mentally exhausted teacher/lecturer (private) with RM2200 basic without OT and having to bring my work home everyday, every weekend. If you are a waiter, either jump ship early, or stick with it, be lucky enough to have an aware enough manager that can give you a promotion or two.
I'm Malaysian and have worked in the F&B industry as well. Gotta say, being a waiter in Malaysia is tough. Dealt with some terrible customers. Once, I had this guy who lost it and started throwing chairs at me just because his food was served later than the table next to him. It was a busy day, and he took it out on me. Not a great experience.
I feel you bro, work at pasaraya for 5 years, everyday i would be drench in sweat, 1st year only rm30 raise salary..this was during covid, work from morning till night, worst when kesihatan did not allow bangla to work because no medical check, i was the only male local taking the load of canfood and barang basah department at the same time, im the only one cutting chiken and fish, then help canfood storing 100 carton of maggie stock..i resign after my knee has problem, im still in my 30, already have knee problem..worst when region manager on power trip, complain on me the only male why confood are empty..muthafaka didn't even know im covering two department..

i worked at McD, KFC, Kenny Roger... and all of them gave me negative IQ when serving the customer.... aint gonna work as a FnB member ever again.. shit salary aswell Oh yeah, Pizza Hut aswell... forgot about that damn unpayed OT place, yeah im calling you out Pizza Hut The Mines
Damn the mother who always complain about the food is literrally my grandmother. "WHY IS MY GRANDSON KUEY TEOW TAKING SO LONG TO COME OUT", like damn bro I wanna dissapear everytime she complains about my food. Plus I feel bad for the waiter who is just doing his job and the chef working in an oven with an oven inside.
I worked as a kindergarten teacher before. 10 hours per day, one month only 1.3k, with some extra unpaid 1 hour of work while making you work as a tuition assistance at the same time. During the time when the kindergarten teachers was resting, we part timers have to walk to the tuition to work. We arent allowed to sit, nor allowed to be close with children because "they will get attached to you", you cannot scold children if they misbehave because "its not your job" while leaving you to take care of the whole class of children alone. At the tuituon you have to check their bags one by one while feed them, have to help with their homework and teach them at the same time, if you made a mistake that one of them didnt did their homework, you will be scolded by the boss. My part time waitress friend work 10 hours per day, 1.8k per month. Speaking about dealing with people, i rather deal with adults who can at least listen than taking care of children and the boss that demand good quality work while make you do extra without pay.
Yup, my mom just told me about this. Thursday, we went to Mcd. The worker was playing on her phone or something and we got our order late. She then gave me a sturdy lecture.

The amount of food wasted is enough to make you cry, at the end of the day is the worst, perfectly eatable food being tossed, sometimes no free food at all. That's the choice of working in Malaysia comfortably or working hard in Singapore
Source: I live in Malaysia frugally with my dad and survive tooth and nail as a dropout working in Singapore while inflation makes even eating at mamaks expensive
Also no tipping in Malaysia...which is great 👍
Tipping ontop of being paid livable wage? Sure. Relying on tips to be able to live? No. Please do not bring tipping culture to Malaysia.
Tipping sucks
Even most European country does not practice tipping. Don’t follow American
Tbf tipping in Malaysia is actually optional, plus they also give you an alright wage
Yup, let's not follow USA's mandatory tipping culture. That's not tipping, that's restaurant enforced tax.
McDonald's experience as a cashier/ice cream operator in bukit bintang golden triangle:
A white girl demanded for a refund of vanilla cone after her kid came in crying because its melted 💀
Bro, how about try EATING your ice cream before it melts?

As a cina, I couldn’t agree more with that. Cina customer is always the worst to serve.
I work at mcd as a waiter but the worse customer i have served so far are indian, they always demanding and complain for a small things
really love your content man, keep it up. you deserve that 10k subs 🎉
Bro just wanted to vent and we're here for it 😭
bro this made my night LMAO i didnt work as waiter but my second job as barista feels like one, stupid "assistant manager" replaced the actual manager on day where i got sick asf and didnt let me leave until i was on the brink of passing out, i truly dont understand how they can be so inhuman
Fnb is useless they should make robot do these i deliver crapfood in sg part time i can say they r overwork indeed when i collec

Non-Muslim workers who worked at Muslim restaurants, you know what I'm talking about.
@@Bajinowhere I'm non muslim, care to explain abit? Thanks in advance
Muslims are kinder? 🥺
Stop beating around the bush and answer the question
But doing a part time job really teaches you to be a good customer instead of being a karen
As always at wedding we always serve kuih for the guest but it the most annoying thing they always drop it on the floor. i many time almots fall carry all the plate because i step on the kuih (sorry my english kinda sucks)
this video inspires me to be kinder to all the waiters/service workers around me (not that ive ever treated any of them horribly 😭)
2:46 bro you fumbled this man, nasi ayam (the rice) is cooked with chicken stock so the rice itself is distinct from regular white rice

Never be a waiter
My family really doesn't like to disturb other people so we never do this type of shit but my aunties are different
Ur funny cina, ima follow u home
Haahhh?
From my experience , yes being a waiter is like being a servant to a 5 year old child. There are moments when customers seem sure about their order, but once the food comes, they deny it. They’re also picky about their food, and I’m the one who gets blamed for it. I quit the job after two days of working and that was a happiest day of my life.
my friend once worked at a food stand in a shopping mall. the reason he quit was because one of the people he worked with grabbed a woman by the *you know what* and went "fuck that i'm looking for another job."
he's still looking for a job to this day.
Why did the "people" he worked with grabbed the woman by the " you know what"
Is there any intention or reason behind this action
thank you for giving me another reason to be a polite customer
And then there's smol percentage that they knew full well they couldn't even afford to eat at the places, decided to get sharing plate in the name of "diet" just simply to experience the have have feeling, lagi got audacity to look at us atas bawah, top notch kiasu
i am watching all the video stats increase one by one

Nah that's a hoe right there
For real ah, as a Chinese, mostly are the middle aged Chinese have the troubles. Once a family tried to confront me because they said they didnt get their change of 50 Sen (I did). 50 FREAKING SEN FOR 800 A MONTH
Very nice truly one of the most real things I seen, this is from a follow Malaysian. Nice made my day
I worked at a small café where I'm the cashier, the washer, the cleaner, the waiter, all of it besides managing the money.

Oh man, here I thought fast food cashiers already had it bad
You didn't mention that one type of customer who always request breakfast menu way past 11AM, especially at *NIGHT* !
When I was applying for KFC,the war broke out in Palestine and KFC was kicking out Workers. Ended up as a Herbalist assistant, guess i got lucky
Yes, but this is about part time job. There are definitely tons of jobs out there that are worse than being a waiter.
someone i know that's retired from their primary school as a teacher, new generation parent and children are privileged, cannot say their children is lazy and did not do home work (their parent is working on high paying job, so the children live like Queen or Kings), they want to sue the school, they have the smart to earn money and pay people to sue the school, but they are not smart enough to wrongly accuse and defame the school with feeling and no proof, they made multiple facebook post and local news paper, they quickly hide their tail when the police threaten them with saman on things that they did to defame the school as there's no proof and their story change every time, the village is also heard about this and everyone know about their doing, so those entitled family had to move out from the village because of how much of a clown they made themselves.
i work as a tuition teacher before when im 19(now im 20), i agreed to you 100%. can't believe how disrespectful these kids are. literally make wanna me die inside.
Students are one thing, but their parents, now that's hell.

I worked as waiter once. I quit less than a month. SO TIRING bro. Mentally mostly.
At least people are talking about doing part time jobs in MY. In the majority of SEA countries, I don't think that doing part time job can give you (as a student etc.) any meaningful amount of money.
When you work at food industry. YOU WOULD HATE IT when customers coming in 10 minutes before the store closed

I ended up quitting 2 months later after the manager said the most rudest stuff to me and when I said I quit she simply reply “ok” yes true story
Tldr don’t be a waiter in Malaysia. Everyone here complaint just a lil thing they see.

Getting close to the blanket review finally

2. Type C Bananas : for some reason type C bananas extra rude. Really acting like the fact the speak english as main and not chinese make them more superior than everyone.

I always start with english if i dont know what language is preferred by them, but if I see them speak malay or Chinese, then I will use those.
Honestly agree. Out of all types, type I is generally the most polite and non-drama customers. Especially the Indian makciks. Most are so friendly and considerate. Worst is type C especially when they are amongst their coworkers. So rude and entitled.
