You know, someone's body language can tell so much ... yours and that big smile just tells your having the best possible time travelling NZ. I've been sea kayaking in the Marlborough Sounds two times. Both times I started in Waikawa and passed Karaka Point. It was fun to see it from the land side. Sweet momories. Thank you. The South Island is a fantastic place to visit. I look forward to seeing your next episodes.

Have you seen the thousands of thumbs down on itchy boots channel lately? I went to look last week and it was really bad. If you don't agree with her or question what she says........POOF.... she blocks your comments. You do not question her authority or her knowledge.She blocked me back in season 5 about getting wine out of cabbage palm trees. There is a reason they are called cabbage. can you guess? 😁
Just an idea Runa - if you put a loop of red electrical tape around the left hand mirror stalk, it will be a subconscious reminder to keep left on the road. Safe travels 😎

Runa, on the south island towards the south west you must drop down to the fiordd area via the Homer Tunnel. Hope you get time to do it but watch out for speed traps exiting the tunnel.

Runa, I still use my wool blanket i got when i was in the army, many,many years ago lol...its a little itchy but damn its warm......i also like the little flag of Norway you have on the bike....sláinte!

I always go for the most isolated winter sleeping pad possible because that's where most of the cold comes from and the sleeping bag is compressed when laying on it so it hardly performs at all on that side.
You got the best camping spot Runa, well done you!! 👌 (Just watch out for those pesky possums, they will steal your stuff lol)
I sure did! 😎 Only possums I had seen so far were overrun by cars 🫠

With risk of hurting my country neighbors feelings - it’s a bit like riding in Sweden and then arriving in Norway! Super nice to begin with, but dang when those mountains pops up it’s just something else 😍

Christchurch to Akaroa & Queen Charlott drive from Havelock to Picton is really twisty sealed coast rd.. & on your return North .. North islands forgotten highway Whangamomona.. Stratford to Taumaranui.. there are amazing coastal rides north of Auckland too .. Take care KEEP LEFT 🙏 .. a ⬅️arrow on your fairing helps 🇳🇿 🇳🇿 🇳🇿

Buy yourself a silk liner for you bag and you will stay warm. Keep enjoying our Country. The South Island roads are stunning for riding.
I've tried a thermo (fleece) liner, but never silk! Perhaps that would do the trick 😊
The ferry is a 3,1/2 hr trip. through the Marlborough Sounds and very beautiful scenery 'DoC' is the Department of Conservation, a government department. Karaka Point is on Queen Charlotte Sound, 5 miles (8km) east of Picton. I assume you will head east towards Rai Valler and Havelock, probably along Queen Charlotte Drive which I knew as The Grove Track when I lived there in the 1960s - we'll see!

4:58 I’m learning so much from you so it only seems fair to share too! Quick tip for staying warm when it’s really cold at night if you have a good, thick sleeping bag (doesn’t work for thin bags): wear fewer layers. I know, this sounds completely counterintuitive but after hundreds of nights in grim conditions, it really works. Your body heat needs to get into the bag and if you have a good, waterproof bivvy bag on the outside to seal your sleeping system, you’ll sleep much better. Wearing too many layers means your sleeping bag isn’t doing its job. You need a good sleeping bag though; one that’s rated to the conditions. Keep your hat on and you should be fine. This won’t work below -20 but having spent a lot of time around -10 to -15, I’m always conscious of wearing too many layers. Love the videos - keep up the great work!

115km/h? You Naughty Girl! keep it under 108 on the speedo, that way you'll only get clocked at 103 and the cops won't care.
What kind of round about is that? (one that goes over the top of a Motorway/highway.)
Now that's a handy piece of knowledge to share. I've never been across the ferry, They keep having issues and the thought of it kind of scares me. But knowing you need your own straps is very important. and not something I had thought about having in my luggage until right now.
You can normally see albatrosses off the ferry if there's some wind and you know what to look for ☺
I did see one when I crossed back to the north island a few weeks later, but only knew cause the biker I was chatting with pointed it out! They are HUGE!

Oh, I love the koots at your campsite in the water. I have pet koots that I feed all the time in our backyard lake.They used to eat out of my hand feeding them dry cat food. But I have not done it that way in a long time. I hope we get to see you with some cows on this trip. I pass 2 pastures every time I leave my house 5 minutes from home, but they are too far in and the landowner is never around for the very very large property. where did the time go?? duh. what happened?? Sad to wait for that short of an episode. 😢 later.
The birds were such such finny and and cute looking creatures! It's great seeing so many new creatures I've never seen or heard before!

I stopped watching since you some how left New Zeeland and ended up in Norway or some place and I never seen anything about what happened or when you left or your last episode from there. You never answer my emails or facebook post, so, I am guessing, ASS U MING.. that you don't want to be bothered anymore with all of your so many new subscribers. I'm happy for you. Let me know when you finally get to pet some cows. That is what I live for in your videos. I found some old pictures yesterday on about 8 CD's and DVD's that I burned about 15 years ago or so from all of my forestry fires and equipment . I copied them all 1 at a time sorting through them all, all day yesterday to a 6GB flash drive and it didn't even make a dent in the size used. Amazing technology from 900 mb cd to 2 terabytes. That is just mind boggling how technology has progressed. I would mail you a 4gb thumb drive if you were interested at looking at my over 1,000 pictures of forest fires mostly in Florida. Your choice. Send me an email when ever you finally stop in another month or 2 from your cold climate. Sorry for the book. 🙄🙄

It’s rare to have those perfect temperatures for sleeping isn’t it 😂 but with good gear everything is a little easier!
@@OffSheGoesADV That’s true, good gear compensating for lack of body heating. I know that many people use water bottle with hot water as heating element in the sleeping bag. 🤔 I have never tested it myself though.

Great spot to camp Runa and unlike Australia you didn't have to worry about venomous snakes in the long grass next to a river. Then you find cute rabbits, what a bonus. cicadas is what that racket is, they come out of the ground every 14-17yrs... and this year was it... so bloody loud to camp with... enjoy

They only spend around 3 years or less underground in NZ before they come out, sing for a few weeks and then die. 14-17 years underground refers to cicadas in North America 😊

As long as you do not do what Kinga did by mistake, thinking she had lost her tent pegs to tie her tent down, resulted in using rocks and come morning when readying to go, found them under the tent. Trust the new sleeping mat and bag were better suited to your cold inner body temp?

Pickton is nice but beware of parking in isolated spots while you go for a hike as the lowlifes break into vehicles which pisses you off making it a pisstonne experience.

Hi there! I actually had this checked a while back, because of this! But they said everything is normal so... Bad genetics, I guess 🤷♀️ Or, just not the best for colder climates!

Freezing on the cold ground is unacceptable. You need portable bed for travel.
