The salesman won many times before Gi hun, but in the end Gi hun won. Like in the games how he constantly almost got eliminated but in the end he won. The salesman may have smiled and acted natural but really he's a psychopath, with barely a backstory. Then you had Mr.Kim who was just a shark who wanted his money back in season one, seemed like a dangerous person yet in season 2 he made a big decision (won't say to avoid spoilers but if you've seen it you'd know what I'm talking about). Deok su season 1 and Sangwoo, seemed like tough guys but deep down they we're cowards. While Gi-hun may have been a coward at the beginning, he became a strong man in the end and ended up being a good person than almost everyone in the squid game (aside from Sae Byok and Ali). Goes to show people who seem mean may end up being nice and soft, while people who seem nice and happy may be careless and psycho. And people who seem tough may be cowards, and people who seem like cowards may be strong people.
Depends on S3 but S2 showed that he is willing to go against the rules by killing the armies in the game. Hence, I think it makes more sense that the bullet was supposed to kill Gi-hun and he just proceeded to kill the recruiter with it. It sets up his character that he's now way more determined to end the game and that he's not like his character in the first season, that he's now fine killing people to achieve his goal.

We had to see this one coming since there was no other season being made after this one. There would be no need to recruit for another game, just shocked it came so early I was thinking he may have been related to the old man or revealed at the end he was the one in charge of the games now.
Gi Hun already won the second he handed the revolver to the Recruiter after the 5th pull of the trigger. There’s a hidden thing in this scene: after pulling the trigger for a 5th time, if Gi Hun attempted to shoot the Recruiter himself(the Recruiter was dead, anyway, by the rules of the game), the latter would’ve died knowing Gi Hun still cheated a little by not letting him pull the trigger, even if in this case, pulling the trigger was certain death. Gi Hun was honorable to the end and the Recruiter, after also hearing Gi Hun’s last words, *KNEW* that the only way to preserve his way of thinking(and possibly to be freed of the Squid Game twisted world) was to claim his own life.

But the gun fires dry for 3 times instead of 2 So what im thinking is that gi Hun actually died in this scene and the rest is imagination. That's why the salesman also says that alot is going trough his heAd at the moment.
