We know that Simon Peter had a wife, but nothing is said about her in Scripture. In The Chosen, we explore what their marriage may have been like, using cultural, historical, and biblical context. And, of course, drawing from our own human experiences.

I will say that her character has shown me a lot about how to be a godly wife. The scene where she is confronting him gave me tips on how to handle being disappointed in a spouse while also encouraging them to be the person God purposed them to be. She corrected him and respected him at the same time. It was a very good example. Love her character

Lui MAMEA It’s inspired by the Bible not the Bible itself. The thing is every art form including the scriptures which are literatures have a context and an aim. So there are particular parts that were left out because of the storyline and purpose of the section of the account. But it doesn’t mean it’s not true or reasonable.
I love how beautifully and tenderly this character is written. No one else could have played this part. We feel like we know her and want to learn from her... Then Jesus says, “I see you, Eden.” And I am a puddle in the floor because I feel like he would say that to each of us who feel like life is happening and we are getting swept up and forgotten in the tide of chaos... just like Eden in that moment.

@@bluegrassgal7856 She is never mentioned in the Bible, but we know Peter was married and we know Jesus healed his mother-in-law before the journey. These writers did a wonderful job of filling in the story that might have happened around this event.

Jesus said; go out and preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons and make disciples. “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Preaching the gospel is what glorifies God according to Jesus. Now dont take me wrong, this is a wonderful show and i enjoy watching the Chosen. In THIS case, She’s using her gift that God blessed her with to play a role that GLORIFIES Jesus, Not Herself. THATS what glorifying God means. People have other talents tho as well as scripture mentions it, it could be sports, acting, and etc. Who says as actor all your roles gotta be Faith Based?? I bet you forgot that these actors can preach the gospel, build relationships behind the scenes?? You don’t know that cuz you don’t see it. GOD sees everything so she doesn’t need YOUR approval.

I have a gift, i play my guitar for Jesus and its awsome, but in the bible i see that Jesus wants us to bear lots of fruit which is to make disciples going out praying for the sick cast out demons and bring the good news of salvation, thats what brings glory to the father because thats what Jesus told us to do, people praise and glorify Jesus when theyre set free of anything, and I’ve seen it with my own eyes, we’re all called to do it. So according to Jesus God needs obedience more than my talents to glorify God.
Like i said before dont take me wrong i love the chosen its a wonderful show but lets do what Jesus said.

@@graciasdewelcome9242 Yes, I agree, Obedience is important. But using are talents he’s blessed us with to bring that awareness of who Jesus helps. There’s non believers that need to relate in order for them to even listen a lot of times, some need to build relationships with those non believers in order to finally get the opportunity to spread the gospel. You can’t just go up to everybody and say “you’re going to hell” , they’ll easily walk away. It takes time sometimes , some receive it in that moment. a lot of times with your ACTIONS they can see Gods love, example “why are you so happy?” Because no matter what I go through the lord is with me. ACTIONS can also allow people to witness. So yes God doesn’t need us, he didn’t even need to create this world if he wanted to. But the fact that he did, is amazing. God can use us to reach out to the loss, faith without works means nothing. You rather us just act like we don’t have talents ? God gave it to us, why not use it? You never know how far a talent can take you to share the gospel to someone at that high position. I can go in debt of why Gods blessing in talents means a lot. Also allows people to experience Gods miracles showing that he is real. Read 1 Corinthians 12: 10-11

Yes some of my most favorite characters are strong women. I believe women betrayed as weak in every way to their husbands in not right. However, the last thing you said raises an eyebrow. I have a few questions in regards to what you said about purely submissive.
What do you mean by purely submissive? Is there something wrong with a woman being purely submissive to her husband? Should not the Body of Christ be purely submissive to Christ, the Lord? If the woman in marriage strays far from the Lord, is the man not required to still love his wife as Christ loves His church?
And what is wrong with being purely submissive?
We can all live by Ephesians 5: 21-33, and I am certainly proud of the writing of the characters to show how the ladies are resilient and strong
@@MarkSutphin Yes we sure can. That scripture also applies even when one or the other has strayed in faith in their marriage. If the woman strays in faith, the man is still required to love her as Christ loves His church; he is not to compete with her because she lacks in her role in marriage. The same goes for the woman.
To me, the best writing and acting I've seen for a wife is Adrian from the Rocky series. She was much sharper in thinking problems out than Rocky, yet she did not feel the need to be stronger than him and be authoritative over him because he was lacking in one area or another. She was purely submissive to him and he truly loved her the way Christ loves the church.
Strength is defined differently when you consider man and woman. Both are equally important but both are very different in strengths. The same goes for authority.
The enemy is very cunning in regards to destroying families. He knows he must be subtle but still effective. The primary goal is to remove the male from his appointed authority in marriage as well as the Body of Christ. He knows if he can achieve this, he has created a vulnerable family and church with easy access to the youth.
With easier access to the youth, he can easily control the future.
Even in the Bible they’re not portrayed that way, after his resurrection Christ revealed himself to Mary Magdalene. The first figure Christ revealed himself to in the public eye was the Samaritan woman at the well. This show is able to add much depth to that subject. All that matters to our Lord is the heart. This series not only is bringing new souls to Christ but rejuvenating lukewarm and backslidden souls.
What I enjoy most of all as in this video, they don’t take credit themselves, it all goes to the Lord as it should 🙏🏻✝️
She is the perfect person to play this role. She is so expressive when she delivers her lines. You see every emotion in her eyes and face. Also, I love her character...tender, fiesty, strong, compassionate, supportive, loving...and above all else, her love for the Lord comes first.

She is spectacular, said as a father with an amazing daughter her age. When she spoke the line to Simon about being the man she met instead of attacking him as the world would expect, it showed not only astonishing strength and conviction, but also a relentless grace and love. It was a true God-scene where He comes through exactly the opposite of what the world expects. My wife has done this for me. It is humbling and inspiring at the same time. It also makes me love my wife even more.
I had a shocking realization. I've watched a lot of these clips (love em), and realize the atmosphere that is embodied in the comment section. I like to read these comments almost as much as watching the acting. Every one of your comments are from the heart and I believe are promptings from the Holy Ghost. It is so out of this world. Thanks for lifting me. No where is there any mention of the divisive political deeds that make the click-bait news. Everyone here seems genuinely interested in the success of everyone else. Whether in the production booth, the acting cast, bearing testimony of love for our Savior, or sharing bright uplifting insights. It feels good and it gives me hope that some of the darkness and despair and depression in this world is being overcome. Cheers to you my Chosen family
Eden really puts in perspective what a Godly Man should be looking for in a Godly Woman.
And, in addition to what you said here, once he has her, how to receive from her. That is probably one of THE most difficult, and annoying, parts of being a wife. A wife often knows what her man needs and will tell him. But if he doesn’t receive it from her, then he is rejecting what God has placed in his life for his own good. Then she has to pray for God to show him what it is he needs to see or receive. The most hilarious part is when He uses another woman to be an ezer kenegdo (helper beside [him]) and they’ll say the same thing his wife said, and suddenly it’s a great idea! 😆🤦🏼♀️ (I’ve had to learn to not take it personally. 😁) The same goes the other way around too.
The character of Eden should make a Godly husband appreciate his Godly wife. Hallelujah!

As well as a model for what women of God should strive to be. I’m so grateful that God gifted us with a character like her because now I have a clear tangible vision of who I desire to be.

Eden is small in stature, but mighty in spirit. She is the perfect example for Simon-you can oft times see the concern and worry in her eyes b/c her husband is changing without explanation before her very eyes, and while she is disappointed, you just always seem to realize her love for him. Eden and Simon are an excellent example of how couples should relate in marriage. As always in this series, excellent casting!
Personally, I am so glad that they included Eden!! I love her, she's one of my favorite characters and I especially love seeing her interactions with Simon!

I love Eden (Lara Silva)!.. She is so believable and endearing.. She added a different level and depth to the story.. I can identify with her so much.. Her part adds so much richness and wonder of who I imagine Simon-Peters wife to be.. And it goes without saying, Eden and Simon-Peter have such great chemistry.. It's believable as a woman of faith, who loves her husband and believes, hopes and sees what she knows to be true, that God's purpose is great within her husband.. I LOVE it! ❤

Totally agree! It moves me to tears just thinking about it. I've seen a video of a pastor who went to heaven and came back and just the little he saw and shared just moves me so much! The day I see Jesus face to face, I can't put into words the longing I have for that day.

That moment in the show reminds me of when we try to handle things on our own. We need to take our cares and worries to God in prayer and conversation. And seek his word in the Bible for wisdom in how to handle situations.

This is the best interpretation of the life of Jesus while on this earth and also the lives of those who came to know him very well and those who came to believe in him that I’ve ever seen . I love love this show and I will be eternally grateful for all these people and their sacrifices they made to make this happen . 💕
My marriage has really been struggling. My husband has gotten back into some things he shouldn't be. He's also more like Simon than you could ever imagine. We watched season finale together. I sobbed. The end where she said please don't let him go has been exactly my prayer for my husband. I love this character. Watching her love this difficult man has been really helpful to me.
One of the MANY reasons this project works SO well is the spot on casting. Eden character reminds me so much of a sweet friend of mine, not only in character, but a little in looks as well. She sadly has went to be with Lord leaving four young children, but was the most Godly wife and Mother I had ever known. God bless has blessed The Chosen and he will continue to as you share the message of his son.

One of the most interesting and moving extra-biblical historical sources I have found regarding Peter's wife is in the book “The Search for the Twelve Apostles” by William Steuart McBirnie, PhD.
"Peter’s parting words to his wife as she was being led out to martyrdom are recorded by Clement of Alexandria (early church father) in his Miscellanies and repeated by Eusebius (early church father) in his Church History: “They say that when the blessed Peter saw his own wife led out to die, he rejoiced because of her summons and her return home, and called to her very encouragingly and comfortingly, addressing her by name and saying 'Oh thou, remember the Lord!' "(The Twelve, Edgar J. Goodspeed, p. 157)

The Chosen being a series helps bring the humaness to the characters. These where real people, dealing with real issues like today. And God (Jesus) came into their lives and manifest His presence in a very tangible ways like He does today (Hebrews 13:8).

This show is full of fantastic actors and actresses that I had never heard of. Everyone was so well cast, and did such a fantastic job portraying each character! This show quickly catapulted into my favorite series of all-time!
I really appreciate that the characters look like they are in their 30s, unlike many other versions make these guys look so aged. It makes a lot more sense considering Jesus' own ~ age and how long these disciples' ministries lasted AD.
Love our daring Eden!!! She's precious! Love that she's a Christian and is very open in sharing her faith. Is there any wonder that GOD has anointed her to play this role so powerfully! Lara is a darling! I hope we see more and more of her as the seasons go on! For me..... knowing Simon's destiny...... Lara's contribution is immense and pivotal to the development of the Simon's character. We don't 'know' anything about Simon's wife, but it historically true that Jesus knew her, related to her and certainly valued her. It's also historically true that Jesus picked out 4 women, of record, to whom he would reveal his divinity before he revealed himself to the world, his mother, Mary, Fotina (the Samaritan Woman at the Well), Mary and Martha, Lazarus' sisters. That's why it's such a positive story line to examine who Simon's wife might have been to him, and to Jesus.

I admire your character as well as all the women. One of my many favorite scenes is when Mother Marys best friend comes out skipping on her Sons wedding day. Even tho she goes to hug her daughter in laws Mother,who snubs her she keeps her beautiful spirit. The women in this beautiful documentary inspire me and warm my heart.
I don’t remember if I commented when this first came out, but since it popped up again, I absolutely love how this actress portrays Eden. The mix of sweetness and strength. I also greatly appreciate her humility, knowing that the only way she can adequately portray this important character is by surrendering herself completely and seeking the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

I thought this was beautiful that they included her. There is an old tradition in the Church that Peter's wife was martyred in Rome just before he was as a way to try and shut Peter up. It obviously failed ;)

I love her as a character, and she seems like the real deal.
I was surprised to see Simon's wife being shown so prominently here considering that she's so neglected in most adaptations. I also liked how they had arguments, never full blown yelling and saying hurtful things, unlike how it goes in my own life.
